Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game / Stuck - yet again!

This seems to be old news but I am having problems after character generation logging in, it sticks at \"inititalizing character\" no matter how long I leave it alone, even several hours....  I would love some insight as I have read all replies to similar posts....
