Technical Help: Problems BEFORE entering the game /

You\'re not the only one that\'s not able to update. :(
It just sits there for me, doing nothing. Oddly enough, I can download the repository.zip file using this url and it only takes a few seconds:

Updating isn\'t going well. In 24 hours the updater downloaded 2.5 PNG files. At this rate I may actually be able to play by 2006.

Is there any other way to get the files?

But in case you\'re too lazy, here\'s a link of a topic about the same problem:

If his question bothered you then why did you respond? To be an ass? You could have just as easily ignored his post or posted the link without the rude comments.

Wait until fix (and look at the hundred threads with this problem around you ;) )

I looked through a bunch of other threads for information on this problem and I didn\'t see a single one (other than this thread). The problem that xXShadowMageXx is talking about is the updater program just sits there on \"Downloading registry...\" with no progress.

I just built PS (and related files) from CVS and i\'m having the same problem.

Q. Will I be able to build CB for an AMD64/Linux system?

I recommend GCC. If you use Windows then there\'s a really nice IDE that uses MinGW (a Windows version of GCC; MinGW stands for Minimalist GNU for Windows) called Bloodshed Dev-C++.  As for tutorials, I would suggest using Google.

The best testers are non-programmers.

Is PS a monolithic nightmare? Or is it well organized and componentized? If it\'s the latter then wouldn\'t it be reasonable to release each piece when it\'s finished so we can test it, even if there\'s a separate release and server for testing?

Sitting on software for years with only a few people testing it seems like a pretty bad development strategy to me.

Nvidia has drivers for x86_64.

As soon as they release CB I\'ll try building it. No sense even attempting it right now since there\'s no server I can try it on.

This was not the correct answer.

aye, I hope they spend another year before release
This was also not the correct answer.

Ye get yourself a banner...\"CB will be released real soon!\" and look at it everyday...eh eh...get the point...
Again, not the correct answer.

After CB release we plan to add content continuously to the public server.
This was the correct answer!

Simple question: will I be able to build CB targeting x86_64?

Well, my interest in PlaneShift is beginning to wan. It was well over a year ago when I first discovered it and there hasn\'t been one single update.

I guess I\'ll check back again in a few weeks... maybe.

No Linux client, so it automatically gets the thumbs down from me.
