Another problem is that only about 1% (my guess) of the players has the skills to contribute to the game as a dev. Theoretically you could reward people for posting (non-duplicate) bugs to the bugtracker, but handing out and managing these rewards also costs time, so I doubt if it will speed up the development of the game.
Motivation is a strong point... if you reward the efforts of someone he will be happier and will work better. This is the first and main point of an enterprise director/boss who wants to be successful.
Very true, but the devs are already in a position that if they wished so they could spawn as much tria and items as they would like, set all their stats to the maximum level and walk around like a super hero. But they never do because it is rather pointless. The only way we now can reward them is by giving them smileys at the forums:
