My first post was deleted. I won't repeat what it said but if i recall correctly it consisted of three words, one of which was automatically replaced by "peanut". As far as I know I never had a post deleted after that first one. Back than they also showed a deleted post count, so it was visible for all the world that I had been a sinner.

General Discussion / Re: Wipe y/n?
« on: November 15, 2009, 01:57:29 pm »
If there has to be a wipe, I just hope the devs carefully prepare for it so they take maximum advantage of it. I especially hope that, before they wipe, they have clear plans on how to balance the game and accordingly redesign or tweak the main systems: leveling, questing, crafting, and money influx through looting and mining  This may sound obvious, but so far 'balancing' has been rather ad hoc.

Thanks Ligh! To be honest, I don't really play PS any more. Lack of time and a decent computer. Maybe things will change in time... but not any time soon. In the mean while, I'm still "around".

I guess what UTM tried to say is that you have to multiply the percentages by 10 since we all had 10 votes.

[this is a sad news... you don't feel like trying to revitalize it with your character, Zanzibar?]

The Hydlaa Plaza / Re: Defining Professionalism
« on: May 15, 2009, 12:53:12 am »
 :D Okay back on topic:

I don't really believe in a "mask" and a "real you". In different settings you just show different aspects of your character. Sometimes you feel the need to impress, sometimes you are at ease, sometimes there is a difference in status. In that sense, there is no fundamental difference between professional and private settings.

Maybe the word you (Zanzibar) are looking for is "distance"? I mean the degree in which you have an understanding with somebody or feel a connection or a similarity. I think you can have an understanding with somebody regardless of the setting. Not sure if that's what you mean at all.  Maybe you can give an example to clarify your question?

Number 2: The code supports it. It's "simply" a matter of adding necessary art. (If there's an artist out there who feels compelled, do help!)

If you think you can help, you can apply here.
Good luck!

Nice poll, it's interesting to compare the results with those on nickyee.com.

Is this for Fragnetics or EZ-PC?

Even if there are two servers with different rules concerning RP, it's still one game in terms of game-mechanics quest options etc. So you can just check the boxes for things you personally find the most important for your total experience as a player.

I don't see why people are jumping on you so much though.

Newbie Help (Start Here) / Re: Planeshifted

Not all MB players got it though, only those that collected a certain amount of crystals. Also, you had to actively sign up your character for migration, so if you didn't do that you can't migrate your old character and have to start a new account.

The Hydlaa Plaza / Re: Swine Influenza Outbreak

Be sure to stock up early on necessary daily supplies as you never know when your city could be locked down and everything like stores shut down. Get food, water, and toiletries.

Even if the outbreak reaches pandemic proportions, they won't lock down entire cities, because it won't help. They might close schools, airports and stadiums, but vital parts of the economy like power plants, water utilities and supermarkets will keep running, no matter what. I don't think stocking up is necessary. If you want to do something, you can wash your hands more often; flu is most often transmitted via the hands (hand shakes, arm rails, door knobs, etc.). If you live outside Mexico, I wouldn't worry too much about it at this moment though.

Complaint Department / Re: Tick Tock

I don't have the impression that new features get three years of internal testing. Usually new features (including bugs) are released much earlier. Also it doesn't really make sense to count from 1992, since they started basically from scratch in 2001 with Planeshift 3D. I like it that you delved into the history of Planeshift though. I think it's quite interesting to see how Planeshift developed over time.

Edit: what do you mean with "Tick Tock"?

Another problem is that only about 1% (my guess) of the players has the skills to contribute to the game as a dev. Theoretically you could reward people for posting (non-duplicate) bugs to the bugtracker, but handing out and managing these rewards also costs time, so I doubt if it will speed up the development of the game.

Motivation is a strong point... if you reward the efforts of someone he will be happier and will work better. This is the first and main point of an enterprise director/boss who wants to be successful.

Very true, but the devs are already in a position that if they wished so they could spawn as much tria and items as they would like, set all their stats to the maximum level and walk around like a super hero. But they never do because it is rather pointless. The only way we now can reward them is by giving them smileys at the forums:   \\o// . Well, maybe they accept other forms of rewards too...

By the way, long long ago and for a short period of time PS advertised special in game positions for devs:
Quote from: Planeshift website in 2001
As a contributor you will benefit of many advantages in the game: you can have special character with a defined social position in Yliakum society, free magical items or weapons, a permanent house and more...
