Wish list / Re: hang gliders?

Why not use them as a cheaper form of air travel, maybe spells could be used to extend their range and cross distances quickly. Maybe even an easy way to descend from level to level. Just don't fall off!

If several stores are running low on a particular item to sell and then the owners put the price up, there is then a demand for that product. Merchants from other areas seeking to exploit this will send caravans with these goods on them to the city, generating quests to defend the caravans, some might pass through PvP areas allowing both NPC and PC bandits to attack while others will not, to ensure that some of the caravans get to the town.
Whenever a caravan gets to the town, prices will go down due to increased supply, shopkeepers might try to exploit this by funding bandits to attack the caravans, and hiring PCs to attack them, while not preventing a player from making a caravan and making some cash.
Shops such as Harquenist?s smithy will produce goods on their own if some PC or NPC sells them the raw materials.

I do agree on this though -- at night, Harniquist should close up shop and disapear.  During the day, any rogue or underworld trainers should like-wise disapear.  That is, certain shops will be open during the day, certain shops will be open at night.

This would be unfair to the players who consistantly log on during the nightime, for example if I have a quest to see Hariquinist and am constantly  on at night when he is shut how do I do my quest?

Other than that I like the idea

General Discussion / Why seperate magic and technology
« on: October 18, 2005, 04:25:19 pm »
I do not see reason for technology and magic to be seperate subjects, as they are both large fields with many posiblities combinations. Why should Magic and technology not work together? I would expect current technology to be more magic/machine com, binations than relying on onw or the other. After all why can magic not be termed another field of science?

There will always be a need to find secluded places to hunt because of large numbers of people mining/hunting

With open PK I can take down a player after he has killed a monster and then loot its corpse, the player being weakened by the fight with the monster

surely if there is open pk then it is possible to have a far greater money crisis ten at the moment as the Pkers kill people and loot their corpses taking money from them, meaning they have to spend longer getting money only to have it taken off them.

I do not understand how someone can roleplay an ordinary charecter, in a suposedly peaceful land with mass murder of complete strangers being the norm.

Maybe only if your harvesting is good enough then you could harvest certain rare herbs. If a plant is poisonous unprepared, then you should only be able to only take the non poisonous part of the plant for use. The same thing could apply to animals, you could ?harvest? the non poisonous parts of an animal for a potion or spell, otherwise you risk poisoning yourself with it.

The bank and fine ideas would not work because the Pker could give all his money/loot to an alt/friend to store/sell it. Also if these guards are unbeatable it will detract some realism from the game, if they are not invinsible then someone of high enough level could kill them. It\'s a dilema.

As Seperot arrived on the battle field he saw his army getting massacred by volley after volley of arrow fire, the few zombies who survived the arrows were killed as they tried to put their ladders up. On the walls catapults and ballistae fired into the zombies massed ranks. While the zombie army brought its siege weapons to bear on the walls zombies scaled the ladders on the walls and engaged in fierce hand to hand fighting on the walls. Seperot riding darkstorm approaches the walls and fires spell after spell into the massed ranks of the soldiers. They begin firing at Seperot, although he either dodged or blocked the missiles and spells. At the small fort things were going much better, although more and more zombies were leaving the main army at Forentium to attack the fort, and it was unlikely that they could hold them off for ever. Back at Forentium, Seperot was being held at bay by many arches and mages, although his army was gaining more ground. The soldiers had all been given a special preparation of herbs to prevent them being turned into zombies, preventing Seperot from increasing his forces and severely hindering his assault.

These powers could only be used if you were a member of the guild.

What if you belong to a guild that is not focused all on one type of skill, i.e. a guild held together by an idealology rather that one soely focused on magic. The mercanary guild for instance.
Also, if each guild gets its own power then the devs will need to make a power for each and every of planesift\'s guilds. Instead of releasing these powers to everyone.
A final point, why would you join a guild? Because you are suited to thats guilds aims or because that guild has a 1337 power?

Despite all that, I think it would be a good thing to have, if you could get over all the hurdles

Five minutes later Seperot got bored so he flew back, re-took his crystals and led the attack on Forentium. At Forentium, the walls were lined with soldiers who were unleashing volly after volly of arrows into the advancing zombies. The small fort that housed some of the fredom fighters, and the catapult was coming under attack from a small portion of the zombie army.  Krayn and Jessyn were loading and firing the catapult as fast as the could, while Eitri was on the front line, having made a huge amount of catapult ammo.

(You are back in the story now, you are too important a character to be able to just leave like that)

Edit: spelling

After all, that\'s where the evil characters will reside, and it would be nice to be able to be truly bad by killing whoever you want. Anyone killed there should immediately respawn at the entrance site of the realm.

If I understand you correctly you mean that each time you get PKed in the death realm you go back to the begining?
Imagine if a band of evil players tried to stop people from leaving the realm by repeated Pking?

Carefully walk around and note how often you go up and down and you soon get an idea that there are low spots that would flood out, perhaps back up water back into the city streets.

Now imagine if anyone was down there - The horrors.

If the sewers flooded what would all the new people do? There would be a rat\\gobble extinction

From http://www.planeshift.it/setting_races.html

The city of Yliakum is a melting pot of races with different culture and origin, mixed and integrated by living together over the centuries. Racial suspicion and hostility are completely unknown, given that the greater part of people belonging to one race is normally married to someone of another race.

Just my two tria

Imagine the cumlative effect of all the Guildwars  that will take place over the course of time. With all the good aligned and evil aligned Guilds in a state of permanant warfare the effect on the economy will be big. Not to mention the battles involving neutral guilds.
