General Discussion / Re: Ready for a new OSP Contest?
« on: October 05, 2009, 11:13:25 am »
Having been almost completely ignorant of the original OSP, my fault I might add, can I just add a few things...

1) Yes it was well IG/forums publicised this Competition but alienated us Powerlevellers...so we kinda felt left out..Sheesh! A very muted why? **

2) Bloodedirishman had it bang on..lack of players IG at any one time to give justice to the winners ideas, was this not forseen ? The time of year etc..

As for the devs & GM's, Sterling job chaps keep it up.

I voted yes

** Can I add we knew this was an Rp Compo & it had our blessing. We just knew we could not fulfill any of the concepts that were picked.

General Discussion / Re: A Commander, or a Leader?

Creating a Guild is simple. Leading one isnt. In fact I think alot of Guild Masters dont realise the commitment thats involved.
There are no "Rules", to being a Guildmaster. Leader/Commander/Advisor, are all interdependant on the relationship with guildies. Some can need any or all of the componants required to progress. For that is the sole purpose of a Guildmaster, to impart his knowledge to them.
Loyalty is not given its earned. Enforcing credo will initially work but as Guildies grow older they will find their own way. If their credo is different to the Guildmaster, And he isnt willing to bend a little then he will lose them. Some guilds are Martial, others more relaxed, Others choose Rp over PL or vica versa. ALL Guilds function with independance & rules. Guildmasters throughout Yliakum must respect other Guilds.
If we want peace.
My respects to those Guildmasters that know me as a Dermorian of my word. That is one thing a Guildmaster has to have.

To Wealth, power, & knowledge. For that we ALL share as a goal, is it not ?

Are you kidding this original poster has a point. He wants shinys but cant get any !!

I live for shinys ! Getting that thing 1st...
Now im known to have a few bits n bobs lying about. They didnt "Walk", to the GuildHouse. I explored & looted 99% of them. So get out there with a wep or 2 & see wot you can find. Its the only way.
As for Event rewards, well trias buys anything. I suggest hanging about the plaza on weekends, Vendors like myself normally setup stalls.

Wish list / Long term Consequences - lack of
« on: October 01, 2009, 12:39:00 am »
Currently apart from a ban or a week in jail, or a few minutes in the DR, there are no consequences to actions of players. And without getting embroiled in a Rp OOC'ly IC'ly debate : Can I just ask for everyone to post IDEAS about how the Devs can redress this problem ?
For problem it is. If players were suddenly flagged for attacking another player so that everyone could see, then perhaps they would think twice. The sanitisation of Yliakum by means of the Challenge, in my view is a hammer to crack a walnut.
ok Challenges still required in towns. but outside law n order should be almost natural. This would allow those of the dark persuasion to be gainfully employed, and face retribution for their crimes. More gameplay. The "Do gooders" patrolling the roads ensuring players travelling unmolested, the dark folk grouped in ambush... etc
WE NEED MORE GAMEPLAY.
Rpers and PL'ers alike would have to work together to travel. Powerlevelling would be stifled as trips back n forth to BDF 20 times to lvl up would be out of the question. More gameplay. Lifting the Challenge law (Except towns) would be the biggest release of gameplay PS could ever do.

As PL Advocate I agree with last post. Lets get anything going that'll blend us both. We do actually need one another. I stopped flaming rp'ers ages ago. Time now for us all to work for a game we can all enjoy. Oh...And its the Pit now we PWN hehe. You wanna see my collection of unique magic helms....  :)

PvP,PK and Thieving / PvP the reality in PS
« on: August 09, 2009, 03:47:54 am »
PvP isnt what PS is about thats for sure. However the contingent within PS whom adore such gaming practices are increasing in influence & numbers. So much so their voices can no longer be ignored. This post isnt about Rp vs PL. Its about Player versus Player combat.
There are two main PvP catagorys : Magic & weapons. Or indeed both!

The Weapons catagory of combat is governed entirely by latency. The player with the lowest ping has a massive advantage. This issue MUST be made a level playing field. Group Combat is almost impossible. Confusing & full of bugs. Till these issues are fixed I see no sense in partaking.

The Magic catagory does not suffer from lag. Initially yes, but after a few seconds its a level playing field. And the demise of one opponant depends on what spell is used & the amount of "Pottys" each has. There lies the problem. But I digress. We all know the magic system will be radically altered at some point. Quite how & what the devs plan is open to debate. All I ask is an update. Let us know what is being planned ?
So lets have some ideas of how to fix these issues... And perhaps a post from "High up", giving some clues as to fixing what to me, are the most serious bugs in the game.

General Discussion / Re: What PlaneShift is not
« on: August 09, 2009, 03:29:23 am »
Planeshift is many things. But as already mentioned this is a dream in the making. We either stick with it (& the bugs, lag, LPB advantage, etc), or like most people, give up & leave.

General Discussion / Re: How to cheat other players with an alt
« on: August 05, 2009, 08:35:11 pm »
Well said Orgunwukh : I suspect alot of Guildmasters have experienced this problem. Guild spys are the usual excuse. I for one propose a ban on ALT's.

Re last 3 posts. Some great ideas & indeed we debated some of our own not unlike those posted. But the problem is this : Getting it organised. So with this in mind, Setiting the event  up MUST be as simple as possible. Getting 2 teams together is one thing, and then  depending on neutral marshalls to hold flags and monitor tactical points...What if they dont turn up? And no doubt one of the teams will be a man or 2 short as well. And a "Flag" is missing etc etc. So we kept it simple.
One point made was about group duelling which is available on other server but not Laanx. Would be handy??
