(22:12:31) [chat] Uadjet:  Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A!
(22:12:49) [chat] Uadjet:  It's an OOC meeting where you get to here about the development of the game and ask any questions you might have.
(22:13:03) [chat] Uadjet:  It's a good place to get player feedback, so feel free to speak up.
(22:13:23) [chat] Uadjet:  If you have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
(22:13:31) [chat] >Zrak greets everyone.
(22:15:22) [chat] Uadjet:  As you all have no doubt noticed, we've had a new update to the game!
(22:15:37) [chat] Uadjet:  If you haven't noticed... How the heck did you get the game running on an old version?
(22:16:47) [chat] Uadjet:  Those who were at the event yesterday already know one part of the last update: Procedural dungeons!
(22:17:13) [chat] Uadjet:  Now, with a simple (well, 13 parameter if I don't use the window) command, I can spawn a random dungeon.
(22:17:14) [chat] Gonger:  Yeah, it was fun.
(22:17:38) [chat] Gonger:  I did not check, is the portal to the dungeon still active?
(22:18:17) [chat] Uadjet:  The dungeon will have been deleted on server crash, I think.
(22:18:27) [chat] Enarel:  i think talad put it back after the last update
(22:18:52) [chat] Uadjet:  Ah, no, it's active.
(22:18:56) [chat] Uadjet:  Good to know.
(22:19:06) [chat] >Anysu cheers happily!
(22:19:40) [chat] Uadjet:  I'll be able to build those for events, though I'll have to place actual treasure in them to make it worthwhile.
(22:20:02) [chat] Uadjet:  I can also set them up randomly, and maybe give hints to the portal location via NPC impersonation.
(22:21:00) [chat] Uadjet:  Talad has made improvements to crafting as well.
(22:21:28) [chat] Uadjet:  The crafting window now supports a search function, and it'll be easier to expand nodes than it was before.
(22:23:06) [chat] Uadjet:  He's also fixed the lava cave puzzle and quest, apparently. I haven't tested that myself, but it should be doable now.
(22:23:08) [chat] Gonger:  Are you sitting on a torch, Uadjet? That's how those weird shadows are created.
(22:23:46) [chat] Uadjet:  Heh, yeah. Items in my hands don't have slots to go into, so they go onto the ground between my feet.
(22:26:53) [chat] Uadjet:  Oh, and apparently you can now feed pets with stacks of items, not just one at a time.
(22:27:43) [chat] Anysu:  nice
(22:28:34) [chat] Gonger:  I will check out the crafting...
(22:28:42) [chat] Enarel:  the crafting changes are nice
(22:29:50) [chat] Enarel:  is the location of the first dungeon portal a secret?
(22:31:29) [chat] Gonger:  No.
(22:31:44) [chat] Gonger:  You know the small outpost behind the old tutorial area?
(22:32:02) [chat] Enarel:  yes
(22:32:06) [chat] Uadjet:  Just down the road a bit.
(22:32:09) [chat] Enarel:  okay
(22:32:19) [chat] Gonger:  Go through the small gate of the outpost, then look to your right, up the hill.
(22:32:28) [chat] Enarel:  okay, thank you
(22:33:06) [chat] Gonger:  Screenshot here: https://www.reddit.com/r/planeshiftrpg/comments/1bmrm9p/the_yliakum_times_event_recap_too_close_to_home/
(22:33:17) [chat] Enarel:  okay
(22:33:35) [chat] Enarel:  oh, monsters should be fighting better now with the last server update
(22:34:39) [chat] Uadjet:  There are quite a few other bug fixes, but those are the biggest bits of news.
(22:35:01) [chat] Uadjet:  Although just today Talad fixed the crash bugs that were causing issues at the event yesterday.
(22:35:13) [chat] Uadjet:  And he found the reason NPCs don't attack players.
(22:35:29) [chat] Uadjet:  So if you were relying on NPCs not fighting back, be careful out there. ;)
(22:37:55) [chat] Uadjet:  Any questions on any of that?
(22:38:08) [chat] Anysu:  Dungeon question
(22:38:25) [chat] >Lurielle greets everyone.
(22:38:58) [chat] >Zrak greets Lurielle.
(22:39:17) [chat] >Enarel waves at Lurielle
(22:39:30) [chat] Uadjet:  Anysu?
(22:39:46) [chat] Anysu:  Are they random when entered by a player. In that if I went into one and someone else went in behind me. We would both have different dungeons we apperar in or would we be in same one?
(22:40:59) [chat] Uadjet:  The dungeons are set when they're generated.
(22:41:17) [chat] Uadjet:  Different players can enter at different times, and they'll be in the same dungeon.
(22:41:43) [chat] Uadjet:  The dungeon won't change unless it's removed via server restart, or someone uses the /dungeon delete command.
(22:42:04) [chat] Uadjet:  So one player can be in there for hours, and be there to greet someone who just came in.
(22:42:46) [chat] Anysu:  Okay. And will there be a way to know if the npc monsters inside before a player enters would be too high for them to fight. ie low level player wonder into dungeon with higher level monsters then themselves.
(22:43:34) [chat] Uadjet:  There's no warning outside, no.
(22:43:57) [chat] Uadjet:  And the NPCs inside currently act as turrets, just staying in place and attacking with ranged magic attacks until killed.
(22:44:28) [chat] Anysu:  That is too bad for low levels who may wonder in and die...
(22:44:33) [chat] Enarel:  wonder if Talad could use portal colors to signify difficulty
(22:45:09) [chat] Anysu:  That is a good idea Enarel
(22:45:14) [chat] Uadjet:  Yeah, I like that.
(22:46:09) [chat] Anysu:  Because every level should be able to have access to a dungeon and have a chance to finish it.imo
(22:46:31) [chat] Anysu:  That is all
(22:46:34) [chat] Uadjet:  Currently there can only be one procedural dungeon at a time.
(22:47:01) [chat] Gonger:  I think those dungeons have a lot of potential.
(22:47:09) [chat] >Anysu nods at Gonger.
(22:47:48) [chat] Uadjet:  There's a "rare rooms" parameter that doesn't work yet, but once it is it should be great. Treasure rooms, temples, boss fights, etc.
(22:49:22) [chat] Uadjet:  Oh, here's a fix I missed: Targeting of spells on friendly creatures.
(22:49:47) [chat] Gova:  I noticed that. I was able to use healing flash normally, without workaround.
(22:50:03) [chat] Gonger:  That is a great fix!
(22:50:13) [chat] >Anysu nods at Gonger.
(22:50:27) [chat] Enarel:  yeah, and well timed for doing dungeons
(22:50:35) [chat] Anysu nods
(22:50:41) [chat] Uadjet nods.
(22:50:51) [chat] Uadjet:  That is an important one.
(22:54:17) [chat] Uadjet:  Hopefully we'll get the Observatory quests in soon. It's just a matter of getting the NPCs loaded (4 new ones), new quest items made (no new art, just new names and descriptions), and a few items placed. in the world. Once that's done, I'll go back to working on Essential Trail quests.
(22:57:24) [chat] Uadjet:  There's a lumbermill model that's free online, and I hope Talad will approve it. I tink it can be animated pretty easily, too.
(22:57:54) [chat] Anysu:  Neat
(22:58:39) [chat] Uadjet:  We've got a few mining quests, but we have few quests for the other parts of that faction.
(23:00:43) [chat] Uadjet:  That'll include fishing, farming, hunting, and lumberjacks.
(23:00:55) [chat] Uadjet:  I've got some quest ideas mapped out, and a few written.
(23:01:10) [chat] Uadjet:  That's what I was doing before I started work on the Observatory quests.
(23:02:04) [chat] Anysu:  Haven't tried fishing since made it to psu
(23:04:41) [chat] Uadjet:  It's different now.
(23:04:45) [chat] Uadjet:  You can't just fish anywhere.
(23:04:56) [chat] Uadjet:  You find a dock, and you fish from there.
(23:06:16) [chat] Uadjet:  Oh, that reminds me. I have to check the dock in Delver to see if there are fish  in that aquifer.
(23:06:21) [chat] Enarel:  it would be cool if fishing had a decent mini game but i realize that's a bit of a lift with the small team
(23:07:59) [chat] Uadjet:  I've got a lockpicking minigame on my to-do list, but I've just got a model of a lock (well, half a lock) and some basic textures for it.
(23:08:06) [chat] Uadjet:  I've never tried making it a mini-game.
(23:09:46) [chat] Enarel:  lockpicking mini game would be good too
(23:10:20) [chat] Uadjet:  Any other questions?
(23:10:45) [chat] Anysu:  Lockpickig practice now is on chest and crates and doors in dungeon as well.
(23:11:02) [chat] Uadjet:  But not on guildhouse doors anymore.
(23:11:20) [chat] Uadjet:  Talad gave me security level 30, so I can fix that on my own. :)
(23:11:34) [chat] Uadjet:  If you see any guildhouse doors that are pickable, let me know.
(23:12:24) [chat] Anysu:  Chets around world..not just dungeon I mean.
(23:13:45) [chat] Arireare:  before i go jumping into the nothingness for the third time, is the dungeon up by chance
(23:14:14) [chat] Uadjet:  One exists
(23:14:24) [chat] Arireare:  thanks Uadjet
(23:14:41) [chat] Uadjet:  I'm going to have fun now that I have access tot he /key command. :D
(23:15:01) [chat] Uadjet:  If there's nothing else...
(23:17:23) [chat] Anysu:  oh yes I will tell you of those pickable guild doors Uadjet.
(23:17:29) [chat] >Anysu grins impishly.
(23:17:35) [chat] Uadjet:  Heh, thanks!
(23:18:05) [chat] Uadjet:  In that case, I think we can bring the meeting to a close. Thank you all for coming, and I'll see you all again at the next meeting in two weeks.
(23:18:20) [chat] >Anysu grins at Uadjet impishly.
(23:18:21) [chat] Uadjet:  Until then, have fun playing and maybe try an event or two@
(23:18:32) [chat] >Zrak thanks everyone!
(23:18:53) [chat] Anysu:  Thanks for updates!!
(23:18:56) [chat] >Enarel waves at Uadjet
(23:19:00) [chat] >Anysu waves.
(23:19:23) [chat] >Anysu smiles at Anysu's Small Table
(23:19:23) [chat] Gonger:  Thank you. Good night. Do not forget to leave this room before logging off.

(22:04:02) [chat] Uadjet:  Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A!
(22:04:30) [chat] Uadjet:  This is an OOC meeting where you can hear what's going on behind the scenes, and ask any questions you have.
(22:05:04) [chat] Uadjet:  We also do a lot of chatter about game features and bugs, so it's a good source of feedback for the Devs.
(22:07:06) [chat] Gonger:  It's also a good occasion to discuss ideas you have.
(22:08:57) [chat] Uadjet:  I apologize for teh starting time confusion. Daylight savings time is just fun for everyone, isn't it?
(22:09:06) [chat] Uadjet:  Gah! Can't get an irony mark in here.
(22:10:50) [chat] Uadjet:  You have a question, Korzala?
(22:11:11) [chat] Koraza:  Yes I do. My question is regarding how to load more arrows when your first stack is gone. I seem to be able to only add another stack of arrows if I log out and back in again.  I looked at the bug tracker but didn't see anyone else having this problem.  Maybe it's a simple keyboard comand I need to learn?
(22:12:14) [chat] Uadjet:  Yeah, there's no equip command right now.
(22:12:14) [chat] Gonger:  Did you try different arrows / bows?
(22:12:22) [chat] Koraza:  Oh, I did turn off combat mode.
(22:12:39) [chat] Koraza:  Only different arrows.
(22:13:47) [chat] Koraza:  We used to simply be able to drag and drop another stack.
(22:14:10) [chat] Uadjet:  Yeah, I can swap stacks now, but of course that does not replicate your issue. One moment.
(22:16:07) [chat] Uadjet:  Well, can't teleport in a training dummy as there appears to be a dev-locked item by that name.
(22:16:23) [chat] Koraza:  Alright. :)
(22:16:31) [chat] Uadjet:  Give me one moment...
(22:17:13) [chat] Anysu:  Uadjet poofed?
(22:17:27) [chat] Koraza:  He may be going to shoot an arrow or two
(22:18:43) [chat] Anysu:  Ouch it looks like you are sitting on that bow.
(22:19:17) [chat] Uadjet:  Okay, I was able to manually place a new stack of arrows into my rand hand.
(22:19:24) [chat] Uadjet:  Am I misunderstanding?
(22:19:46) [chat] Koraza:  Nope.. my alt couldn't place them into her hand.
(22:20:25) [chat] Uadjet:  That's odd. It seems to be working normally for me.
(22:20:31) [chat] Uadjet:  Anyone else want to try it?
(22:20:53) [chat] Koraza:  I have no arrows on this character or I would be happy to. ^ ^
(22:22:23) [chat] Larasay:  Me neither :/ I'm often unarmed xD
(22:22:39) [chat] Anysu:  I might have arrows
(22:23:48) [chat] Anysu:  I can't now.. not in group with Larasay
(22:24:12) [chat] Larasay:  Invite
(22:25:35) [chat] Uadjet:  Is this a problem that repeated, or was it a one-off thing?
(22:26:41) [chat] Koraza:  I used up a stack of 6 arrows and can add more now that I am grouped.
(22:27:32) [chat] Uadjet:  It could have been a rare glitch, I suppose.
(22:27:43) [chat] Larasay:  It works normally, I can use another stack after the first
(22:28:14) [chat] Koraza:  Maybe something to do with my other character. It has been happening for a couple of weeks now.
(22:28:16) [chat] Uadjet:  Even if the game thought there was something in the slot, it should simply have swapped them.
(22:28:24) [chat] Anysu:  I was able to move a stack to hand. But I had to go out of combat mode to do it. Is that right?
(22:28:44) [chat] Koraza:  Seemed like my mouse wouldn't recognize my inventory window.
(22:29:13) [chat] Larasay:  I think it doesn't changes it automatically
(22:29:15) [chat] Koraza:  My alt did go out of combat mode.
(22:30:39) [chat] Anysu:  Nope
(22:30:40) [chat] Koraza:  I can add more arrows without getting out of attack mode.
(22:31:03) [chat] Larasay:  How?
(22:31:28) [chat] Anysu:  Got to remove crosshairs, to drag from inventory.
(22:31:37) [chat] Larasay:  Me too
(22:31:39) [chat] Koraza:  Use the CTRL key + my mouse to select the stack. Same way as in Legacy I think?
(22:32:19) [chat] Larasay:  Yes I do that, but not when in combat mode
(22:32:43) [chat] Uadjet:  The mouse pointer is disabled in combat mode, so I can't click on anything.
(22:32:53) [chat] Larasay:  Yeah indeed
(22:32:57) [chat] Anysu:  What Uadjet said
(22:33:15) [chat] Koraza:  Just hit the Enter key first
(22:33:26) [chat] Larasay:  Cool
(22:33:49) [chat] Larasay:  Figured out :D
(22:33:52) [chat] Koraza:  Shouldn't have to mess with keyboard commands when in a real battle. :D
(22:33:53) [chat] Uadjet:  Ahh, I didn't know that. Thanks!
(22:35:16) [chat] Larasay:  Just a tip for you guys...you can power spells in the hotkeys by pressing the corresponding key
(22:36:14) [chat] Koraza:  How do you get to your hotkey menu? It was included earlier with EU but not now.
(22:36:18) [chat] Larasay:  Though I have a question... are stances still existing? Aggressive, defensive etc...?
(22:37:07) [chat] Larasay:  There's the option for the hotkeys
(22:37:38) [chat] Uadjet:  We do have different combat moves now, which have large taken the place of the old stances.
(22:38:13) [chat] Uadjet:  Combat maneuvers are weapon-specific, and you can scroll through them with q and e (one for each hand).
(22:38:38) [chat] Anysu:  I still have issues with those.
(22:39:15) [chat] Koraza:  So both of you have used a stack of arrows when not grouped and been able to add another stack with no problems?
(22:39:42) [chat] Uadjet:  I wasn't grouped.;
(22:40:00) [chat] Larasay:  Oh ok got it. So with Q and E you can activate moves like Side Slash(for sword)?
(22:40:03) [chat] Koraza:  Must have something to do with my alt then.
(22:40:40) [chat] Uadjet:  What message were you getting? And were you getting the "out of ammo" message when trying to attack with an empty hand slot?
(22:41:19) [chat] Koraza:  Got the out of ammo message but couldn't add more arrows from my inventory to my hand.
(22:41:33) [chat] Koraza:  ....until I relogged.
(22:41:34) [chat] Anysu:  I didn't get the enter key. I did click and got cursor back and crosshair remained in place, but I could not reactivate the crosshairs to actually hit without hitting tab again.
(22:42:48) [chat] Koraza:  Talad mentioned he was working on Ranged in Discord a short while ago. I thougnt maybe this was the problem he was working on.
(22:43:42) [chat] Koraza:  Trying to return your bow and arrows
(22:46:48) [chat] Uadjet:  Okay, since we can't repeat the bug, are there any other questions?
(22:47:46) [chat] Tix:  just a quick one from me, how active is the weekly market?
(22:48:13) [chat] Larasay:  Yes, regarding the combat moves with Q and E... are they the same like Side Slash, Furtive strike etc?
(22:48:37) [chat] Uadjet:  @Larasay:Yes, that's what those are.
(22:48:53) [chat] Uadjet:  @Tix: It's very slow lately. Were you there today?
(22:49:12) [chat] Larasay:  Ok thank you
(22:50:30) [chat] >Larasay greets Tix.
(22:50:39) [chat] Tix:  I wasn't today but last few Sundays there was no one there
(22:51:00) [chat] Tix:  just checking its not the "winter season" and it is closed
(22:51:37) [chat] Uadjet:  I'll show up next weekend with an engraver, and I'll try to think up some other NPC merchants just to get people to show up.
(22:52:07) [chat] Anysu:  engraver is neat.
(22:52:11) [chat] Tix:  ok that sounds good, i guess most people are very expereinced so prob dont need to buy anything
(22:52:28) [chat] Anysu:  I am often busy during that time though.
(22:54:08) [chat] Anysu:  time difference will also probably affect when market is as well.
(22:54:09) [chat] Uadjet:  In recent years it's been more about RP than commerce.
(22:56:34) [chat] Uadjet:  Okay, now for the update.
(22:57:03) [chat] Uadjet:  Talad's been polishing the new dungeons, including working on the actual portals.
(22:57:06) [chat] >Anysu claps for Uadjet.
(22:57:16) [chat] Uadjet:  People in Discord may have seen previews of what they may look like.
(22:59:54) [chat] Uadjet:  The last two weeks have been mostly about dungeons and ranged combat, but in the last few days he's been working on bug fixes, which often means he's working up to a new release.
(23:03:11) [chat] Larasay:  If I may suggest something... the presence of a record of npcs the PC has interacted, with the details about the place where they can be found
(23:03:51) [chat] Larasay:  Something that could be saved in the Compendium
(23:03:57) [chat] Uadjet:  Like in a section of the compendium?
(23:04:02) [chat] Larasay:  Yep
(23:04:05) [chat] Uadjet:  Ah, you just said that. :)
(23:04:33) [chat] Uadjet:  There is an unused section of the People and Locations compendium. Namelyh the "People" part.
(23:05:26) [chat] Uadjet:  I'm not sure the best way to work that. Maybe every NPC that gives a quest has their name and the name of the quest listed there.
(23:05:32) [chat] Uadjet:  Maybe their description?
(23:05:38) [chat] Uadjet:  That could be done automatically.
(23:06:02) [chat] Uadjet:  More detail would involve writing up summaries of quest interactions.
(23:06:33) [chat] Uadjet:  There is also a Notable People section under Factions, but not everyone is necessarily a noteworthy member of a faction.
(23:07:39) [chat] Koraza:  Wish we could still add a very short note after players names in our friends list too. Made it so easy to know if we met OOC or IC inLegacy.
(23:08:08) [chat] Koraza:  Simply needed to add an underscore after the players name.
(23:09:00) [chat] Larasay:  Well, it would help a lot, also because of the npcs in the wilderness, Yliakum is greater than before and slightly confusing :')
(23:09:17) [chat] Koraza:  yes it is :)
(23:09:50) [chat] Anysu nods at Larasay
(23:10:50) [chat] Koraza:  Heard some guilds had that info but now it may be outdated.
(23:11:46) [chat] Uadjet:  Locations of NPCs in the wilderness - like Grok, Kora, th e Dark Wanderer - is an issue.
(23:11:47) [chat] Larasay:  There was an interactive map once before, but I think the site went down
(23:12:12) [chat] Uadjet:  We chatted about making the compedium map a little more interactive, but that would be a ton of work.
(23:12:12) [chat] Gonger:  Yes, a fully editable Buddy list would be most appreciated...
(23:12:31) [chat] Koraza:  Had a quest for Kora and the NPC told me how to find her. It still worked.
(23:13:19) [chat] Koraza:  Only because I've been lost for hours since I returned and started to learn the new routes ;)
(23:13:55) [chat] Uadjet:  Ah, yes. I have many more signposts to add.
(23:14:02) [chat] Uadjet:  And some to clarify.
(23:14:10) [chat] Anysu:  Yes please signposts
(23:14:14) [chat] Uadjet:  I can only do that for roads, though.
(23:14:16) [chat] Koraza:  So many have helped too.
(23:14:52) [chat] Koraza:  Some signs are hard to read unless you get out a torch.
(23:14:52) [chat] Anysu:  Is there a sign to find ruins near Gug?
(23:14:58) [chat] Larasay:  Maps addition helps fortunately
(23:15:26) [chat] Uadjet:  Oh, which type of signposts do you prefer: One signpost where the description gives directions, or multiple signposts that overlap and are named for what the road leads to?
(23:15:32) [chat] Uadjet:  One moment. I'll do an example.
(23:15:58) [chat] Koraza:  Faster to see a name on the signpost without having to click on it. :)
(23:16:01) [chat] >Uadjet dropped a Multiple Signpost.
(23:16:06) [chat] >Uadjet dropped a Signpost.
(23:16:09) [chat] >Uadjet dropped a Signpost.
(23:16:29) [chat] >Uadjet picked up an Ojaveda
(23:16:31) [chat] >Uadjet picked up a Hydlaa
(23:16:33) [chat] Gonger:  What about portals...?
(23:16:34) [chat] >Uadjet dropped a Hydlaa.
(23:16:37) [chat] >Uadjet dropped an Ojaveda.
(23:18:03) [chat] Larasay:  The ones with the name on them would be less confusing, but need to zoom alot, still a good option though
(23:25:05) [chat] Uadjet:  So, any preference for sign type?
(23:25:38) [chat] Uadjet:  The only issue with the type nearest gonger, is that people might not knowto click on the 'leaves' of the sign.
(23:25:49) [chat] Uadjet:  If they click on the post itself... pure confusion.
(23:26:31) [chat] Anysu:  More than two must be placed well so the pointing is easy to know what direction.
(23:26:42) [chat] Anysu:  Each points.
(23:27:46) [chat] Anysu:  I like to click and see name come up on screen. Instead have to read it.
(23:28:05) [chat] Anysu:  ie see name on sign.
(23:30:52) [chat] Uadjet:  Well, I'll see what I can do. If you find an intersection that could use a sign, feel free to file a petition with the coordinates.
(23:31:51) [chat] Uadjet:  So I think we can bring the meeting to a close, now. Thank you all for coming, and I'll see you all again in two weeks!
(23:32:03) [chat] Uadjet:  Until then, have fun playing and maybe try and event or two!
(23:32:46) [chat] Anysu:  Thanks for the update!

(21:59:54) [chat] Uadjet:  Developer Q&A starting in a couple minutes at the Courthouse in East Hydlaa! It's an OOC meeting where players can hear what's going on behind the scenes and ask any questions they might have. If you want a teleport, just send a /tell to Uadjet or ask in the Global channel.

[A few minutes are missing because of connection problems...]

(22:07:35) [chat] Uadjet:  The falling is nothing new, but I got guildhouse bug ptsd flashbacks from the teleport error.
(22:07:55) [chat] Anysu:  Question: Can Odren the Kran in plaza be moved? Kra is standing inside a flower pot
(22:09:13) [chat] Uadjet:  I reloaded him, but that may have placed him back into the flowerpot.
(22:09:20) [chat] Uadjet:  If so, I'll file a bug report.
(22:09:41) [chat] Uadjet:  Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A!
(22:09:42) [chat] Gonger:  So that is how kran grow...?
(22:10:06) [chat] Uadjet:  The gemming process does sound like something plants might do, were they made of stone.
(22:11:17) [chat] Uadjet:  Okay, I was going to save this bit for later, but I'll probably forget again.
(22:11:24) [chat] Uadjet:  There's a new command that poeple can use.
(22:11:43) [chat] Uadjet:  I've mentioned it before, but it's still relatively unknown.
(22:11:52) [chat] Uadjet:  It's the /pose command.
(22:12:06) [chat] Uadjet:  You can use it to change how your character stands and walks.
(22:12:21) [chat] Uadjet:  Well, I can't. I'm a derghir and we have a different skeleton.
(22:12:44) [chat] Gonger:  Just /pose? It does not seem to do anything.
(22:12:56) [chat] Uadjet:  No, you have to add the specific pose you want.
(22:13:01) [chat] Anysu:  I tried it as well
(22:13:09) [chat] Uadjet:  Everybody is normally in /pose default.
(22:13:14) [chat] Anysu:  Oh a specific
(22:13:15) [chat] Uadjet:  Try /pose injured
(22:14:00) [chat] Uadjet:  And it should stay like that if you walk or run.
(22:14:09) [chat] Damola:  Only makes a difference when not sitting.
(22:14:46) [chat] Damola:  It does not say which poses it accepts when just saying /pose
(22:15:27) [chat] Uadjet:  There are some that won't see much use, I think. Rifle, Pistol1H, and Pistol2H
(22:15:40) [chat] Uadjet:  There are also Masculine and Feminine
(22:16:21) [chat] Gonger:  What are the possible values, except injured?
(22:16:26) [chat] Damola:  Masculine looks silly
(22:16:51) [chat] Damola:  Masculine looks like "ugh, ugh?"
(22:16:55) [chat] Gonger:  Hmm... /pose does not reset from /pose injured
(22:17:06) [chat] Damola:  Gonger, Uadjet is telling them currently
(22:17:10) [chat] Damola:  /pose default does
(22:17:15) [chat] Uadjet:  Okay, the useful ones (IMO) are: HandsTied, Injured, Bow, Torch, Box, Barrel, and maybe Binoculars.
(22:17:25) [chat] Damola:  /pose feminine
(22:17:25) [chat] Gonger:  Ahh... thanks
(22:18:06) [chat] Gonger:  torch is cool
(22:18:15) [chat] Damola:  Hmmm /pose feminine does not seem to be too bad
(22:19:09) [chat] Gonger:  It's handstied (one word), and the nasty part of me wishes for some more command parameters...
(22:19:12) [chat] Damola:  Does it survive log in and log out?
(22:19:32) [chat] Damola:  I think just /pose should give an explanation like with other commands.
(22:19:40) [chat] Damola:  Currently it does not.
(22:20:01) [chat] Uadjet:  That would be helpful, yeah. Just a list of poses.
(22:20:28) [chat] Uadjet:  Torch can be used to hold up any item you can put in your hand. I've done that in events a few times.
(22:20:48) [chat] Uadjet:  Barrel is... pretty specific. Maybe carrying anything large over your shoulder.
(22:21:23) [chat] Uadjet:  And Box is also very useful for "I swear it was this big" stories, especially for those with the fishing skill. ;)
(22:22:21) [chat] Gonger:  Some of these can definitely be fun.
(22:22:33) [chat] Uadjet:  Just another little thing to play with. :)
(22:22:58) [chat] Anysu:  Handy for rp
(22:22:59) [chat] Gonger:  I will lock myself in tomorrow for a quiet hour or so and publish the notes of this and the latest Q&A...
(22:23:08) [chat] Gonger:  Also 2 Event resumees to do...
(22:25:14) [chat] Uadjet:  Okay, I just discussed the /pose command with everyone.
(22:31:33) [chat] Uadjet:  Talad also did some work on ranged combat, but that was in the last few days and I didn't really catch the streams.
(22:32:43) [chat] Anysu:  Ranged needs work
(22:33:07) [chat] Anysu:  Good to know
(22:33:36) [chat] Damola:  Was much easier to position a char exactly in Crystalspace based PS?
(22:33:42) [chat] Uadjet:  And with the dungeons, he's got a lot more work done.
(22:34:12) [chat] Thosor:  I still shoot myself in the foot all the time trying to hunt.
(22:34:13) [chat] Uadjet:  He's worked on textures, so that not every dungoen will look the same.
(22:34:36) [chat] Thosor:  The bubble around me is very large.
(22:35:17) [chat] Thosor:  Especially when in an enclosed space or near a wall.
(22:35:39) [chat] Uadjet:  And I think next up is treasure. not loot dropped by NPCs, but rooms that can be generated with end-of-dungeon treasure.
(22:36:45) [chat] Anysu:  Yeah treasure!
(22:37:10) [chat] Thosor:  A rare weapon or the like?
(22:38:00) [chat] Uadjet:  Yeah, that's the kind of thing. Weapons, glyphs, staves, etc.
(22:39:39) [chat] Gonger:  Mithril!
(22:41:08) [chat] Uadjet:  We don't have mithril, but we do have blue-steel and tigrain-steel.
(22:41:34) [chat] Gonger:  We need Mithril...
(22:41:39) [chat] Anysu:  Maybe rare metal armor in chest
(22:42:53) [chat] Uadjet:  There are armor types that aren't normally available. 50q versions of those could work as mid-tier treasure.
(22:43:09) [chat] Anysu:  nods
(22:46:59) [chat] Uadjet:  So the  procedural dungeons are getting ever closer to being released.
(22:47:03) [chat] Anysu:  Although I wonder with numerous chests and loot in dugeon's that are random, how is one able to carry all the loot.?
(22:47:18) [chat] Uadjet:  Though sadly I don't think Talad will let me make a kikiri dungeon.
(22:47:47) [chat] Gonger:  For April 1st, maybe.
(22:48:23) [chat] Uadjet:  Well, will you be looting every random longsword? It may end up being like an Elder Scrolls dungeon, where you ahve to pick what you take.
(22:48:25) [chat] Thosor:  ooh! fun time of year fore PS
(22:48:34) [chat] Uadjet:  But you can leave the dungeon and come back, if need be.
(22:49:01) [chat] Gonger:  That is consistent with many rogue-likes - you have to choose what to keep and what to drop.
(22:49:33) [chat] Anysu:  Thought dungeon and loot were random? So you could not go back and get missed items from before.
(22:50:19) [chat] Uadjet:  They can be generated to have a specific lifespan, I think. I could be wrong.
(22:52:30) [chat] Gonger:  Why speculate too much? We shall see...
(22:53:30) [chat] Uadjet:  Yeah.
(22:54:06) [chat] Uadjet:  So I've also proposed a spyglass to Talad. It's simpler than I thought, as long as you aren't trying to view distant map sections.
(22:54:23) [chat] Uadjet:  It's just a matter of changing the field of view, and Unreal takes it from there.
(22:54:41) [chat] Thosor:  An optical sight for crossbow?
(22:54:55) [chat] Uadjet:  It would also need either a first person camera set up at the player's location, or a little trick to make the player invisible to themselves. Otherwise you're just zooming in on your own back.
(22:55:32) [chat] Uadjet:  That's very similar, Thosor, though you'd need the art for that as well. Bows could have something similar to aid with aim, though it's really not needed.
(22:57:09) [chat] Thosor:  Yeah, always shooting back of my head.
(22:58:25) [chat] Uadjet:  And I've got the new NPCs done, and the items are pretty basic. Two clusters of critter spawns and a few items placed is all that's need for those quests to be added. Well, that and me checking the quest steps to make sure I didnt' make any errors that would prevent the quest from being completed.
(22:59:21) [chat] Uadjet:  With regard to zooming, Unreal does have "owner not see", which allows the game to make you invisible to yourself, as well as "only owner see", which I'm sure will be sueful as well.
(23:01:18) [chat] Uadjet:  Any questions?
(23:04:42) [chat] Uadjet:  I know there was a lot of discussion about streaming and privacy yesterday. Was that resolved to everyone's satisfaction?
(23:05:06) [chat] Thosor:  I missed it here,
(23:05:13) [chat] Anysu:  What was the resolution?
(23:05:54) [chat] Uadjet:  I think it was let people know in advance, and not show group chat.
(23:06:27) [chat] Thosor:  Some may not show up if it is going to be broadcast.
(23:06:52) [chat] Anysu:  What Thosor said. Or participate much in rp event because of it.
(23:08:07) [chat] Anysu:  Personally do not think is enough to say is 'being broadcast' but do you want to be broadcasted.' With option to vote yes or no for players.
(23:08:20) [chat] Anysu:  IMO
(23:08:46) [chat] >Thosor nods at Anysu.
(23:10:48) [chat] Uadjet:  Hmm. Maybe I should bring this up with Talad.
(23:12:01) [chat] Gonger:  Personally I do not much care about the privacy of my characters. I care about MY privacy. But if people do not want to be streamed, there should be no stream.
(23:13:24) [chat] Uadjet:  Hmm. I'm not sure how to find a compromise here. I'll bring it up with Talad.
(23:13:58) [chat] Uadjet:  Well, I think we can bring the meeting to a close.
(23:16:40) [chat] Uadjet:  So  thank you all for coming, and I'll see you again at teh next meeting int wo weeks. Until then, have fun playing and maybe try adn event or two!
(23:16:52) [chat] Uadjet:  We can continue the talk later.
(23:16:59) [chat] Thosor:  Yes, she was concerned.
(23:17:02) [chat] Uadjet:  We're not setting game policy here today. :)
(23:17:59) [chat] Gonger:  You can also post about it in the forums...
(23:20:20) [chat] Uadjet:  Oh, I took a vid of the pond that Gova posted about. It's during the day, but it still looks pretty ncie.
(23:20:27) [chat] Uadjet:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3HmfZfGw_E
(23:21:45) [chat] Uadjet:  I'm still getting used to the new GPU.
(23:22:18) [chat] Uadjet:  Talad has set up a new youtube channel for tutorials, so if you want to explain how something works   you can make your own vid about it.
(23:23:01) [chat] Thosor:  more introduction than spoilers, I hope.
(23:23:18) [chat] Uadjet:  It's about mechanics, really.
(23:23:31) [chat] Uadjet:  A vid on the new crafting system would be helpful for old players as well as new.

(22:03:15) [chat] Uadjet:  Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
(22:03:57) [chat] >Anysu salutes Gonger with respect.
(22:05:40) [chat] Uadjet:  If there are no immediate questions, I'll give you all a quick update on what's been going on behind the scenes.
(22:05:48) [chat] >Anysu waves at Gova
(22:06:54) [chat] >Gova greets Anysu.
(22:07:42) [chat] Uadjet:  Talad has continued on with the procedural dungeons.
(22:08:25) [chat] >Anysu listens intently to Uadjet.
(22:08:29) [chat] Uadjet:  He's been very focused on that for,... about a month now.
(22:08:58) [chat] Uadjet:  He's got traps in, and he's still working on those, and he's also got systems for generating loot and critters/npcs.
(22:09:26) [chat] Uadjet:  Not named NPCs, but it's entirely possible to fill a dungeon with cutthroats or onyx daggers
(22:09:55) [chat] Gonger:  Is this to be understood like a mini rogue-like?
(22:14:00) [chat] Uadjet:  I haven't really played those games so I cant' really say, but they look to be standard dungeon crawls. No RP to speak of, but monsters and treasure and locks and traps abound.
(22:15:10) [chat] Anysu:  What of the level of this dungeon and the monster npcs?
(22:16:14) [chat] Uadjet:  That can be set when the dungeon is created.
(22:16:48) [chat] Uadjet:  So there could be dungeons with npcs and critters appropriate for new players, or ones that would give experienced players a challenge.
(22:17:28) [chat] Anysu:  That is how it should be.
(22:19:37) [chat] Anysu:  Will a player be able to destiguish before entering if they are high enough to face monsters inside.
(22:19:48) [chat] Uadjet:  Simply having critters that are hostile will be nice.
(22:20:29) [chat] Gonger:  Will this be part of the next release?
(22:20:29) [chat] Uadjet:  That's a good question, but I'm afraid I don't know the answer. Realism would dictate 'no', but a small hint might be nice. A patrolling npc of the appropriate level just outside the door, maybe.
(22:20:35) [chat] Anysu:  Do not want someone with too low level to wander into a challenging dungeon
(22:22:44) [chat] Uadjet:  Oh, I remember playing Everquest. Running around, killing little armadillos, when suddenly a bloody sand giant comes running up and turns me into a monk-shaped smear on the ground with one blow.
(22:23:13) [chat] Uadjet:  Try the other newbie area? Angry griffons.
(22:23:29) [chat] Uadjet:  A little fear keeps people on their toes.
(22:28:00) [chat] Uadjet:  But as I said, it should be fairly easy to tell if a dungeon is too much for you.
(22:30:04) [chat] Gonger:  No risk no fun.
(22:30:12) [chat] Gonger:  Too much risk, also no fun.
(22:30:41) [chat] Uadjet:  True.
(22:31:00) [chat] Uadjet:  At the last meeting, I said I'd try to get a full 'set' of quests for the observatory done.
(22:31:10) [chat] Anysu:  Ending in the realm to learn said lesson, not pleasent or fun.
(22:32:07) [chat] Uadjet:  The current count is 19 quests, four NPCs, and... maybe a dozen items.
(22:32:21) [chat] Gonger:  Impressive!
(22:32:36) [chat] Anysu:  Nice
(22:32:47) [chat] Uadjet:  So that's one 'Welcome To...' quest, two quests for each NPC in the obserfvatory, and one quest that starts elsewhere for each NPC.
(22:32:49) [chat] Gonger:  I still would like meta-quests for players: Create a Quest and Create a NPC.
(22:34:12) [chat] Uadjet:  Talad mentioned there was no content for the NPCs in there, and I think I've fixed that. :)
(22:34:49) [chat] Uadjet:  The items still have to be made, the NPCs fleshed out, and some critters and items placed in a couple spots, but most of the writing work is done.
(22:35:10) [chat] Uadjet:  There are players working on quests right now, so there is cause for optimism.
(22:36:07) [chat] Uadjet:  And even with their NPC and mine, that's only three NPCs for Homestead. There are none in Raurim, or the newer areas in Amdeneir and Ojaveda. Well, one in Oja if Talad likes my glassblower.
(22:38:15) [chat] Anysu:  If there is a glassblower will there be glassblowing crafting?
(22:40:11) [chat] Uadjet:  In time, hopefully, though for right now she's just for quests.
(22:41:27) [chat] Uadjet:  Any questions?
(22:41:40) [chat] Anysu:  I have a Dungeon one
(22:41:45) [chat] Uadjet:  Sure.
(22:42:39) [chat] Anysu:  If Talad has trapped this dungeon. Will find and disarm trap be working in there?
(22:43:26) [chat] Uadjet:  Oh, sure.
(22:43:34) [chat] Uadjet:  They're working in the existing dungeon already,.
(22:43:42) [chat] Anysu:  One thing untrapping a container or door. But another to find other hidden traps.
(22:43:47) [chat] Uadjet:  That includes finding traps and finding secrets.
(22:44:34) [chat] Anysu:  Have done few dungeons currently. So do not know how those skills work.
(22:45:31) [chat] Uadjet:  Try on this crate here.
(22:46:20) [chat] Anysu:  I did it..
(22:46:31) [chat] Uadjet:  You found the trap?
(22:46:37) [chat] Anysu:  I did
(22:46:48) [chat] Anysu:  Took me two tries to disarm it
(22:46:53) [chat] Uadjet:  I'm not sure that trap works, as I was remembering the name instead of picking from a dropdown menu.
(22:47:50) [chat] Anysu:  What happens when you do not disarm? How do you activate trap?
(22:48:34) [chat] Uadjet:  In the case of a container, it would tripper on opening it.
(22:48:45) [chat] Uadjet:  Traps on floors trigger when you step on them.
(22:48:55) [chat] Anysu:  But when? When you pick container up?
(22:49:49) [chat] Anysu:  oh missed the opening thing you just said
(22:50:30) [chat] Anysu:  Then how do you find the floor traps? Begore you step on them?
(22:51:03) [chat] Uadjet:  There's a special ability under intelligence called detect secrets, which is what can find both traps and secret doors.
(22:51:19) [chat] Uadjet:  Oh, wait, I'm wrong.
(22:51:24) [chat] Uadjet:  That finds secret doors.
(22:51:47) [chat] Uadjet:  Detect/Remove traps is also under intelligence, but is a bit easier to obtain.
(22:52:04) [chat] Uadjet:  150 Int for that, and 180 for detect secrets.
(22:52:55) [chat] Anysu:  Have high enough of both of those.
(22:53:03) [chat] Uadjet:  I'll have to take people through that dungeon again. Which means I have to make sure there are no crash bugs, and I should probably figure out how to get to the end. ;)
(22:53:08) [chat] Thosor:  I have more than that for both
(22:53:11) [chat] Anysu:  How do you activate them.
(22:53:49) [chat] Anysu:  Do you open abilities and click on something? Or type something in chat wndow?
(22:54:05) [chat] Uadjet:  The actual command is "/ability detect secrets" or "/ability Detect/Remove traps "
(22:54:18) [chat] Uadjet:  It's easier to drag them onto your shortcuts bar.
(22:56:50) [chat] Anysu:  secrets is to find hidden doors? and the other is just for traps?
(22:57:15) [chat] Uadjet:  Yes.
(22:58:31) [chat] Uadjet:  Oh, I didnt' answer the question about procedural dungeons being in the next release, did I?
(22:58:49) [chat] Uadjet:  Well, I don't know, but Talad's been so focused on it that there's a good chance it will be.
(22:59:08) [chat] Anysu:  Well I do want to be in on any event you do to show those skills. If you have done it I missed it. Thanks for explaining.
(22:59:38) [chat] Uadjet:  That was back when Legacy was still running, and I wasn't quite as worried about crashing the server during events. :D
(23:02:05) [chat] Anysu:  So setting off traps can cause crashing of server?
(23:02:28) [chat] Uadjet:  It did during that event, but I think it's fixed now.
(23:02:40) [chat] Uadjet:  I'm more worried that we won't be able to find our way through.
(23:04:07) [chat] Uadjet:  Any other questions?
(23:04:34) [chat] Thosor:  not for now
(23:04:53) [chat] Gonger:  Thank you, Uadjet. Very enlightening.
(23:05:13) [chat] Gova:  I'm just eager to get my completed quests past 398, where's it's been for years now.
(23:05:33) [chat] Anysu:  Thank you for update Uadjet
(23:06:03) [chat] Anysu:  Did you retrap that crate Uadjet?
(23:06:06) [chat] Thosor:  I have many I don't know where to resume again.
(23:06:35) [chat] Uadjet:  Happy to! I think we can bring the meeting to a close. Thank you all for coming, and I'll see you at the next meeting in two weeks. Until then, have fun playing and maybe try an event or two!

(22:00:36) [chat] Uadjet:  Hello, and welcome to the Developers' Q&A!
(22:00:53) [chat] Uadjet:  And yes, I debated the placement of the apostrophe in that last sentence.
(22:01:25) [chat] Uadjet:  This is an OOC meeting where we discuss what's going on behind the scenes and give people the chance to ask whatever questions they might have.
(22:01:33) [chat] Ronasi:  *smiles* I promise not to lose any sleep over that.
(22:01:50) [chat] Tutharel:  Hello!
(22:02:28) [chat] Uadjet:  Well, it's like a sign saying Grocers', or Grocers, or Grocer's. Accuracy matters. It's the pluralizing of Developer that I was questioning. ;)
(22:02:32) [chat] Ronasi:  Finally you look "normal" here Uadjet.
(22:02:38) [chat] Uadjet:  Oh, I know!
(22:02:58) [chat] Uadjet:  It's so nice not to have to look like a carbon-based life form.
(22:03:09) [chat] Uadjet:  And none of you have spikes!
(22:06:22) [chat] Tutharel:  Well, whats the news Uadjet?
(22:06:57) [chat] Gonger:  It is a Plural Genitive, so it needs the apostrophe.
(22:07:29) [chat] Uadjet:  But it's mainly one developer.
(22:07:46) [chat] Uadjet:  That would make it "Developer's Q&A"
(22:07:50) [chat] Uadjet:  Were the developer here
(22:08:11) [chat] Uadjet:  The developer not being here adds another layer of complication.
(22:08:25) [chat] >Anysu greets everyone.
(22:08:40) [chat] Uadjet:  But there are other people contributing now, writing quests and making NPCs, so I suppose Developers' is correct.
(22:09:01) [chat] Gonger:  Aye. Development is more than programming.
(22:10:33) [chat] Uadjet:  Now, we could debate this all meeting, but I should probably get on with giving an update rather than discussing grammar and the lack of spikes on carbon-based life forms.
(22:11:08) [chat] Uadjet:  So for the last two weeks Talad's been working on (and having fun with) a procedural dungeon system.
(22:13:34) [chat] Uadjet:  If you like, you can go to twitch or youtube. The latest vid has a ch ecklist of what he's accomplished at about three hours and thirty-five minutes in, near the end.
(22:15:03) [chat] Uadjet:  But the system is getting to the point where you just set some parameters and you'll end up with a dungeon with occupants, treasure, locked doors requiring keys, traps, and everything you want in a dungeon.
(22:15:39) [chat] >Tutharel claps.
(22:15:45) [chat] Anysu:  Dryken that is how you spell it. I tend to spell it wrong.
(22:16:14) [chat] Anysu:  cool
(22:18:57) [chat] Gonger:  We should have such a dungeon as Starting Area, and not the Dryken Plane. I still believe the Plane should appear later in the game.
(22:18:59) [chat] Uadjet:  So, if I get access to that you can expecta  kikiri dungeon at some point.
(22:19:30) [chat] Gonger:  I sometimes spell Drykken Plane...
(22:19:32) [chat] Uadjet:  I'm still bitterly disappointed that there was never a kikiri invasion script in Legacy like there was for ulbernauts and Xalpa.
(22:19:50) [chat] Gonger:  What would we do with all those eggs?
(22:21:59) [chat] Anysu:  Nods about Dryken Plane
(22:22:33) [chat] Anysu:  kikiri invasion sounds fun
(22:24:08) [chat] Anysu:  Giant Kikiri low level boss fight.
(22:24:23) [chat] Uadjet:  The Developers who hadn't been GMs wouldn't add it because they thought GMs might abuse it. The developer who HAD been a GM knew for a FACT that we'd abuse it.
(22:26:10) [chat] Uadjet:  As for me, I've been working on quests. I'm about half way through writing the Observatory quests. That is one intro quest, and then three quests per inhabitant.
(22:28:49) [chat] >Anysu claps for Uadjet.
(22:30:21) [chat] Uadjet:  A few of those quests will require either new critters (well, newly placed spawn points) or new NPCs, I've got at least one new NPC for Amdeneir, Homestead, and the new Dsar in Ojaveda.
(22:32:33) [chat] Uadjet:  The NPC in AMdeneir is the magic shop owner, and I'm trying to come up with different things she could sell, to differentiate her from Levrus.
(22:33:06) [chat] Thosor:  Moar Diamonds!
(22:33:54) [chat] Arireare:  im still kinda hoping for some more clothes and items
(22:34:08) [chat] Arireare:  i know a lot of item based things require models
(22:35:14) [chat] Uadjet:  Different clothing can be tricky. Recolored is one thing, of course. I'm just not sure how it would be implemented. Maybe a consumable item, that changes your clothing appearance until you change it? Otherwise we'd need a whole new set of inventory slots, and I don't see that happening.
(22:35:30) [chat] Gonger:  Insanely expensive items with little purpose to remove some money from the game...
(22:35:57) [chat] >Anysu nods at Uadjet.
(22:35:58) [chat] Arireare:  like the crazy staffs ive found in the world
(22:36:04) [chat] Thosor:  ah, a casino.
(22:36:13) [chat] Tutharel:  mmm, gambling. lol
(22:36:19) [chat] Arireare:  yea
(22:37:10) [chat] Thosor:  More taxes...
(22:37:31) [chat] Arireare:  boooo
(22:39:25) [chat] Uadjet:  Oh, I am NOT doing taxes.
(22:39:30) [chat] Uadjet:  I simply refuse.
(22:39:35) [chat] Tutharel:  good
(22:39:50) [chat] Uadjet:  Now, getting players to waste money on silly things, that's totally fine with me.
(22:39:56) [chat] Thosor:  Luxury mounts that die early.
(22:40:07) [chat] Anysu:  Gambling casino be an idea
(22:40:31) [chat] Arireare:  -the dying
(22:40:39) [chat] Tutharel:  I still like the wandering merchant idea brought up the last dev Q&A I was at.
(22:41:05) [chat] Anysu:  Wandering merchant also good idea
(22:41:25) [chat] Uadjet:  The issue is what to sell.
(22:41:34) [chat] Thosor:  How does that work?
(22:41:35) [chat] Uadjet:  We have wandering merchants, and they sell map pieces.
(22:42:04) [chat] Thosor:  I meant for a money sink.
(22:42:06) [chat] Arireare:  i mean there are a few items that arent sold anywhere yet
(22:42:11) [chat] Tutharel:  Materials for crafting, insanely expensive magic staves or glyphs, enchanted/randomized weapons/armor?
(22:42:43) [chat] Arireare:  theres also things like the compas kifu was looking for earlier
(22:43:06) [chat] Gonger:  We had a gambling hall in Ojaveda, an illegal one. And some fine RP came from it.
(22:43:33) [chat] Thosor:  Just need more speakeasys.
(22:43:55) [chat] Anysu:  I recall that Gonger. That was  some good rp chances there
(22:44:19) [chat] Anysu:  And different games to play.
(22:46:51) [chat] Uadjet:  Maybe... games that pay out in tokens, and an NPC where you can cash in tokens for items or tria.
(22:47:06) [chat] Tutharel:  Yea. That'd work.
(22:47:22) [chat] >Anysu nods at Uadjet.
(22:47:44) [chat] Tutharel:  Or the ability to put wagers on games that already exist in game?
(22:49:36) [chat] Uadjet:  You can gamble with an NPC in Hydlaa, but I suppose the ability to wager could be added to the dice game, for example.
(22:49:51) [chat] Uadjet:  That would be player v player, but player v NPC could also be added.
(22:51:01) [chat] Anysu:  If there was a gambling/gaming place there could be npcs there that not only do the games, but maybe have quests. Quest with faction of the less than savory sort.
(22:51:37) [chat] Thosor:  rat faction.
(22:52:35) [chat] Anysu:  Like the Cabal of whispers or there is also the 13Wards,
(22:53:08) [chat] Uadjet:  13 Wards is the rogue/criminal faction. Cabal of Whispers is different.
(22:53:45) [chat] Anysu:  The 13 wards then.
(22:54:52) [chat] Anysu:  Yeah guess it doesn't say much about the cabal in faction screen.
(22:55:20) [chat] Thosor:  Does it mean we have the  other side  of the crime industry? Police, etc.
(22:55:50) [chat] Uadjet:  Yes, the Octarchy faction
(22:57:01) [chat] Gova:  I have max rank in Cabal of Whispers faction, and I'm 100% sure that's not right. I also have no Conclave of Glyphs faction. Linked?
(22:58:34) [chat] Uadjet:  Maybe. I don't see any conclave of the glyphs in my factionlist either.
(22:58:43) [chat] Anysu:  There is a Conclave of glyhps? That isn't in my faction list either
(22:58:52) [chat] Anysu:  lol
(22:59:01) [chat] Anysu:  Said same thing.
(22:59:43) [chat] Uadjet:  But KNM would be a good way to drain tria and get out some nice but not game breaking items. Like those armor sets that I give out that aren't available elsewhere. Like Brigandine, or spidersilk.
(23:02:22) [chat] Arireare:  i need more silverweave
(23:02:27) [chat] Arireare:  lol
(23:04:29) [chat] Uadjet:  Well, giving out items with loot enchantments would be something Talad would have to approve of. Of course he'd have to approve of anything, but that might be a big ask.
(23:06:25) [chat] Ronasi:  Kind of like the requests for more shortcuts? ;-)
(23:06:51) [chat] Uadjet:  Somewhat similar, yeah. :)
(23:07:12) [chat] Uadjet:  But I do like the KNM idea. I'll see if I can track down the setup.
(23:07:49) [chat] Arireare:  sorry what is KNM?
(23:07:56) [chat] Tutharel:  Yea, I was about to ask the same.
(23:08:22) [chat] Thosor:  ears perk
(23:08:35) [chat] Anysu grins
(23:08:41) [chat] Uadjet:  Oh, Kore Nekka Mansa. I may have spelled that incorrectly. They're a shady group out of Ojaveda that ran a gambling hall.
(23:08:51) [chat] Anysu nods
(23:08:56) [chat] Tutharel nods
(23:09:50) [chat] Anysu:  Nice.
(23:10:23) [chat] Uadjet:  Oh, and I found where Kormia is meant to be.
(23:10:40) [chat] Uadjet:  It's on the northern road between BDRoad2 and Amdeneir.
(23:10:50) [chat] Uadjet:  The floating orb marking its lcoation is underground.
(23:10:57) [chat] Uadjet:  That took a while to find.
(23:11:03) [chat] Tutharel:  Small announcement, the subreddit has reahed 11 members. A small step but a step none the less.
(23:11:41) [chat] Gonger:  And someone put a bounty on my head when the gambling hall was closed down.
(23:11:42) [chat] Ronasi:  Good job Tutharel
(23:12:14) [chat] Gonger:  Strangely enough, nobody ever tried to collect that bounty (1 million tria).
(23:12:25) [chat] Uadjet:  Who would they hire? You?
(23:12:30) [chat] Tutharel:  Also, I'm working with a "larger" content creator (about 1k subs) in recording gameplay and producing videos on the game. I will be streaming the whole process on my Twitch along with events (I will make sure to ask before streaming next time. Sorry about that Anysu.) and hopefully this will generate some more traction for our small community.
(23:12:45) [chat] Tutharel:  That's all I had.
(23:12:55) [chat] Thosor:  I swung but you ducked, a ducked dwarf is hard to hit.
(23:13:22) [chat] >Anysu nods at Tutharel.
(23:13:36) [chat] Uadjet:  Thanks, Tutharel!
(23:13:44) [chat] Tutharel nods
(23:14:06) [chat] Gonger:  Uadjet, will there be a final plague event in Ojaveda?
(23:14:29) [chat] Gonger:  Like, our noble band of characters discovers the truth behind the plague and helps wiping it out?
(23:14:34) [chat] Anysu:  That is a good question, Gonger.
(23:15:03) [chat] Uadjet:  I was planning that, but timing was the issue. Waht I had in mind would involve Devs, but maybe I can just run an event where the plague is resolved before adding any NPCs to the new dsar.
(23:15:33) [chat] Gonger:  You had some memorable characters in those plague events. I liked a lot that old fellow who went back  into the plague zone to be with his wife.
(23:16:33) [chat] Gonger:  Garratch was the name.
(23:16:43) [chat] Uadjet:  Yeah, I liked that guy too.
(23:17:03) [chat] Gonger:  He would make a fine leader... (hint, hint,...)
(23:17:56) [chat] Gonger:  And maybe the whole plague was created by villains through poisoned water (Paajah, for example) to destabilize the city.
(23:18:08) [chat] Uadjet:  There was also the woman with aspergers. I'm not sure if that came through vefry well, but it was the event with the magical rain.
(23:19:07) [chat] Anysu:  Isn't the means about how the plague came about part of lore?
(23:19:09) [chat] Gonger:  Well, I do not remember all events as well as others...  Difficult with 377 events (we need a 500 events Achievement...)
(23:20:24) [chat] Uadjet:  Yeah, the highest achievement currently is 100.
(23:20:40) [chat] Tutharel:  250, 500, 1000, etc. would be nice.
(23:20:51) [chat] Uadjet:  1000?!?!
(23:20:57) [chat] Tutharel:  yessir
(23:21:29) [chat] Tutharel:  gotta have that long think. Gonger needs something to work towards, right? :D
(23:21:33) [chat] Ronasi:  Cheers. Long live PlaneShift
(23:21:44) [chat] Uadjet:  Holy cow! There are... 856 events total, but like 100 of them are simply called "test".
(23:22:01) [chat] Gonger:  Anysu, not sure whether the plague is part of the lore, Uadjet would know about that... But who says all lore is true? Remember the old saying: "History is written by the winners."
(23:22:16) [chat] Arireare:  i may have found a way to update character models and creatures
(23:22:36) [chat] Tutharel:  If we had more GMs, more events could be run during the week or something eventually. *shrug* I just know PlaneShift will be around for a long time. 1000 doesn't seem too out landish.
(23:22:39) [chat] Arireare:  tyring to get it setup now
(23:22:49) [chat] Tutharel:  Sweet, Arireare!
(23:22:56) [chat] Gonger:  856 - 100 = 756. 756 / 2 = 378.
(23:23:16) [chat] Uadjet:  Ah. 828, Some must have been deleted.
(23:23:49) [chat] >Ronasi listens intently to Tutharel.
(23:24:19) [chat] Tutharel:  Maybe at different times as well for those with different timezones.
(23:24:37) [chat] Uadjet:  That's valid, and small events can be done as well.
(23:24:48) [chat] Ronasi:  Good luck with that Arireare!
(23:24:50) [chat] Uadjet:  Little encounters, like 30-45 minutes.
(23:24:50) [chat] Arireare:  id apply to do basic GM stuff but my online time varies wildly
(23:25:43) [chat] Tutharel:  Same here. I just have a kid on the way so idk how much longer I can play as much as I have been playing recently.
(23:26:30) [chat] Ronasi:  That's exciting news Tutharel :) Congrats
(23:26:41) [chat] Tutharel:  Thank you.
(23:26:47) [chat] Uadjet:  Huh. My first event was #465. Other than a few run by other people, the rest are all me.
(23:27:04) [chat] Gonger:  Call the kid Anysu, Gonger, or Uadjet :)
(23:27:21) [chat] Anysu:  eek no..
(23:27:25) [chat] Tutharel:  That's funny, Gonger. Her name will be Isla. Sorry.
(23:27:32) [chat] Ronasi:  What a record you've set, Uadjet.
(23:27:42) [chat] Gonger:  I hope you reserved that name already in PlaneShift.
(23:27:43) [chat] Anysu:  That is a very pretty name Isla
(23:27:56) [chat] Tutharel:  I might have to. :D
(23:28:00) [chat] Tutharel:  Good suggestion.
(23:28:01) [chat] Gonger:  Uadjet, this means I participated in almost all of your events.
(23:28:19) [chat] Gonger:  Anysu, you are way too modest!
(23:28:59) [chat] Anysu grins
(23:30:32) [chat] Uadjet:  Okay, but we're well past the hour and realizing that I've run about 375 events (not counting the double events when Legacy and PSU were both running) has me wanting a nap.
(23:30:35) [chat] Anysu:  Aye I have left a mark in this game. Amazing and I am Thankfully. Even have a table that hope will forever be a part of my continued legacy here.
(23:32:08) [chat] Anysu:  You all awesome;
(23:32:18) [chat] Anysu:  Thanks for the update Uadjet
(23:32:26) [chat] Uadjet:  So let's bring this meeting to a close. Thank you all for coming,a nd I'll see you all again at the next meeting in two weeks. Until then, have fun playing and maybe try adn event or two!
(23:32:43) [chat] Gonger:  Do not forget to leave this room before Quitting.
(23:32:54) [chat] Tutharel:  Thanks everyone for the ideas and Uadjet for the updates!

Hello,

We now have our own subred under

Moderator is Tutharel.

So far we mainly use this subred as a Chronicle of Events, but every reasonable content is welcome.

Uadjet: Hello and welcoem to the Developer's Q&A!
Uadjet: This is an OOC meeting where we give updates on what's happening behind the scenes and you all can ask whatever questions come to mind.
>Tutharel waves at Uadjet
>Thosor greets Tutharel.
>Tutharel waves at Gonger
Anysu: oh okay
Uadjet: Now, if you have any questions, please line up at the lectern in front of the stage.
>Anysu salutes Uadjet with respect.
Uadjet: If not, I can give you a brief (for me) update on what's been going on.
>Thosor greets Arireare.
>Anysu salutes Gonger with respect.
>Anysu greets everyone.
Tutharel: Am I fine to make an announcement rather than a question? :)
Gonger: Absolutely.
Uadjet: Sure.
Tutharel: Dunno if I should put this in brackets but here we go. Recently, we opened the r/planeshiftrpg subreddit. It was annouced in the #announcements channel on the Discord.
Tutharel: It has been going smoothly so far. I'm the moderater, hello everyone.
Uadjet: No need for brackets. Everything said in the meetings is OOC.
Tutharel: We are trying to find its place in the community and are looking for content to post there.
Gonger: Right now we posted event summaries of the last three events.
Gonger: A kind of chronicle, useful to catch up.
Tutharel: Currently we are announcing the events as they come up and posting an event recap after each session. If I'm able to make it, I post it, other wise Gonger has stepped up to do them.
Tutharel: Definetly.
>Thosor claps.
Gonger: You could also write a forum post, maybe?
Gonger: With the direct link.
Tutharel: Reddit is a place of humor, for sure, so I've been trying to post memes of Planeshift as well so if anyone has good ideas for that, that would be amazing.
Tutharel: I think I should be able to make a forum post. I will have to check if I have an account. Otherwise, I will need to speak with Talad on that one as i think account creation is still a little borked on that site.
Uadjet: Boeven's cartoons would be a good fit.
Tutharel: If you could DM me a link for those, I'd appreciate it and I can post one or two from time to time to kinda make them last. :)
Tutharel: Or maybe I can reach out to the creator if they want to post them themselves.
Tutharel: That's pretty much all I have for the announcment. Just keep it in mind. Reach out to me or Gonger about it if you have any ideas or simply just post on the subreddit!
Tutharel: Thanks everyone!
Tutharel: I reposted the subreddit link on discord again as well to make it easier to get to.
Uadjet: Good idea.
Uadjet: Arireare?
Gonger: Maybe we can do more on reddit in the future...
Arireare: are there plans for any sort of tria sink, we were trading items in the market earlier and were relising the uselessness of tria
Tutharel: Definetly, Gonger.
Arireare: after stat training i find myself swimming in tria without much to do with it
Arireare: scrouge mcduck swiming pool is at the top of my list :)
Thosor: xfer to rl would be nice.
>Thosor lets out a hearty laugh!
Tutharel laughs
Uadjet: Yeah, we need sinks for tria and pp.
Arireare: Tutharel had an intresting idea in discord, faction donations
Tutharel: I think the quest "The gift of knowledge" could use PP and tria, which would be nice.
Uadjet: Tutharel posted some ideas in the Discord server... Yeah, what Arireare said. :)
Anysu: We did a player auction with tria in game once.
Tutharel: But yea, I can move that to idea to the #ideas chat if y'all think its good.
Tutharel: Well, that's not quite a sink but just a shift in who has the money.
Arireare: that could be good ive amased quite a collection of intresting weapons im not using
Anysu: True
Tutharel: I think player housing or more features of the guildhouses could be great money sinks.
Tutharel: It's really difficult to come up with simple sinks we could utilize.
Anysu: donations to Faction yeah that sounds like an idea
Tutharel: MMO Economies are not easy to balance.
Arireare: id like more clothing options myself and access to the npc staffs i see around
Thosor: expensive upkeep for mounts?
Tutharel: I'm thinking its a community donation. Some of the donations are for you alone but there could be huge pools of tria that the whole community is amassing together to earn fun rewards.
Uadjet: Mounts are already expensive to maintain, and I'd hate to see someone lose their mount because they can't afford the upkeep.
Tutharel: Same....
Arireare: theres also the mystery item trader from Diablo 3 could be an idea, instread of murder you gamble your tria on items you may want
Uadjet: Buying factions points might work, but that only goes so far and players will likely learn that they don't need to do it fairly quickly.
Tutharel: Yea, that could just be a small reward you get for donating to a faction regardless. I mean, you just gave them tria, they probably will prefer you a bit more after that.
Arireare: i find some weapons are a huge pain to farm, poleaxes and Galkards are ones ive had a hard time locating
Anysu: nods about mounts
Gova: Poleaxes are only dropped by maulberlords.
Arireare: yea theres like 4 in the whole world
Tutharel: I like the mystery item idea with the mystery npc.
Thosor: New players could earn tria attending mounts.
Thosor: for others
Tutharel: Maybe he spawns in a different city each week and sells different mystery weapons and armors that you can open, like a chest, and find out what it is. A loot box of a sort.
Arireare: i think thats how the destiny 2 guy works
Tutharel: Definetly that last one. :D
Tutharel: Yup. Pretty much
Arireare: i know id spend a ton on daggers to find more silverweave
Arireare: silverweave used to be the best, i dont think that is the case any more but i digress
Gova: Heh, good point.
Tutharel: You can only buy so many a week as well. So there is a bit of scarcity, mystery, and a huge sink that would drain the economy of money for a time until everyone has what they want or rare items become so inflated its laughable... Its a quick fix rather than a long term solution I think...
Tutharel: *sigh*
Gonger: I think ideas for sinking money will not be the problem. Time on DEV side will be...
Arireare: thats a fair point
Tutharel: That's fair
Tutharel: Y'all are actively seeking devs, correct? Even ones who can only contribute a few times a month?
Anysu: Maybe merchants sell more base craft items. So need not mak some parts from scratch
Arireare: i also like the idea of Player homes, i think the way guild houses work is a door is only a door for one guild, maybe player homes are tied to a single door but a diffrent key leads you to a diffrent player home?
Arireare: i like that idea anysu
Tutharel: Variety shops would be wonderful.
Uadjet: As long as it doesn't make buying those things from players less appealing.
Thosor: ye olde shoppees
Tutharel: NPCs that sell things at random depending on the day and what they were "harvesting" that day.
Arireare: i think anything to support the team is a help Tutharel, like my rugs was a small thing but allowed Talad to focus on other things
Tutharel: Well, I understand the desire to make things RP driven but it'd be nice to drain money out of the economy I guess. I suppose it doesn't matter since RP is the main focus of this game really.
Gonger: Every DEV is welcome.
Anysu: Yeah it could be random Items change each day?
Arireare: to the earlier point simple mechanics some times require complex code
Tutharel: I might apply then. I have a bit of programming and UE4 experience. I could start simple at least, with making quests and such.
Arireare: a basic vendor list might be just a list where as a random list could be coded for each item with probability stats and so forth
Arireare: making it far more complex and time consuming to implemnt
Uadjet: Talad did the work to create special, random events already. Like the map merchants that spawn sometimes on the road.
Tutharel: Maybe there could be Mats merchants as well then.
Uadjet: Well, we could talk about this all day. I thinjk a thread on discord or th eforum will allow for people to add ideas.
Tutharel: Would someone like to summarize this and post it in a thread on Discord?
Uadjet: We do need to focus on the things we can actually do. Things like guildhall upgrades sound great, and I've had thoughts on that myself, but... What upgrades? Who will do the art? There are multipel t ypes of guildhall, so will the upgrades work with them all?
Arireare: we discovered hidden rooms is there a way to modify those so that they can be accessed?
Arireare: or was that a one off for my guild hall
Uadjet: Below the stairs?
Arireare: there was 3 i beleive, 2 in the sides as well
Uadjet: Like that?
Uadjet: Wiat, there's no light in there, is there.
Arireare: oh i was thinking the Oja ones, i have full bright on, the lighting in some places is real bad
Arireare: like the BD area
Arireare: but having proper access to these areas in some way could be awesome rp for clandestine groups
Uadjet: Hmm. It might be easy to add action location teleports.
Uadjet: A certain skill to find, or maybe a certain rank in the guild to automatically know about them.
Arireare: i was thinking about my guild hall, while in oja which makes sense, is there a way to add a door to a place like the sewers?
Uadjet: But yeah, there are a few hidden rooms in teh Oja buildhall. The hidden spaces in this guildhall are just wasted space.
Arireare: in theory a group could tunnel out any old area to make a space for their guild hall
Arireare: my character as you all know now, is a group of rogues, so my focus happens to be there, but the potential is there for any guild that wants to stay more or less hidden, like the Guardians Of Power
Uadjet: Okay, let me give you a quick update before we run out of time.
Uadjet: From teh update page, Talad's been upgrading a lot of textures to make things look a little nicer. Some of the textures were absolutely tiny.
Uadjet: The Hydlaa walls and gates are examples, and the Ojaveda carpets are being worked on now.
Uadjet: The simplified crafting you saw at the event yesterday.
Uadjet: I had nice bunk beds set up, but I trashed them so that players could try making boards. :D
Uadjet: The magic shop has been upgraded, so give that a look when you're in the area.
Uadjet: The /screenshot command now works.
Anysu cheers at simplified crafting
Uadjet: I know some people were waiting for that one.
Uadjet: You can use /screenshot alone, or as "/screenshot nogui" to get rid of the user interface windows.
Gonger: But /help screenshot does not explain the options.
Thosor: I used screenshot a few minutes ago... before taking down all the decorations at Harnquist's.
Arireare: aww :P
>Thosor lets out a hearty laugh!
Thosor: kidding.
Tutharel: They were super cool!
Arireare: ive been decorating all sorts of places
Thosor: They do look nice.
Gonger: I like those decorations. Will they be made permanent?
Uadjet: I've locked them down.
Uadjet: I'm happy to let them stay a while.
Anysu: increase decorations.. maybe increase lag..
Gonger: I did not try to take them down, but upon right-click there was the Take icon.
Thosor: how? when scanning/looking by them?
Uadjet: Was there? I'll have to check. Maybe not all were in the command radius.
Uadjet: So, more fixes to teh Dryken Plane. People still hate it.
Uadjet: That and hte labyrinth.
Anysu nods in understanding
Uadjet: Talad said he might add places where you dorp down and cannot go back to reduce accidental backgracking.
Gonger: I will check both in the latest release... very curious about those changes.
Uadjet: I might go in and add a few markers to point the way.
Arireare: i think thats a good idea, could be something subtle, like gems or torches
Arireare: my daughter got lost for over an hour and a half in the labrynth
Uadjet: Yeah... it's not great.
>Anysu nods at Uadjet.
Uadjet: I'll see what I can get away with.
Uadjet: Oh, the unattackable players thing was fixed.
Uadjet: That was a fairly significant bug.
Tutharel: Definetly. I introduced 4 players during that time and they were all immortal... They were fighting Dlayos glads and such...
Thosor: When is player attack used lately?
Thosor: oh, from the beasts, ok.
Anysu: I am for npc monsters attacking back but not player attacking a player.
>Thosor nods at Anysu.
Uadjet: PvP is only if you accept a duel.
Thosor: although would be good with a friend to maybe improve skills?
Anysu: But can that be turned off.. Too not even get duel offers???
Uadjet: I've also started writing quests again. I'm going to try and get the whole 'set' of Observatory quests done.
Uadjet: I think it could be in Legacy, but I don't see that option here.
Thosor: In time for the RL April Eclipse?
Uadjet: The full set means he intro, two (-sh) quests from each NPC, and one quest involving each NPC but starting elsewhere and not necessarily part of that faction's quests.
Anysu: Hmm well it should be option.
Gonger: There are no more PVP zones, like the Platinum Mine?
Uadjet: Well, I redid one quest with three tasks. Redid the third task, and put the old version into its own quest.
Thosor: Maybe in the taverns...
Uadjet: Not to my knowledge, Gonger.
Uadjet: Taverns cannot be PvP zones. Imagine hte carnage at the start of events!
>Thosor looks around smiling.
Anysu: imagine if ther are NO pvp zones.. and can be hit anywhere and not want to from a player..
Gova: Oh, I tracked down the new Cinnabar and Lumium mine locations.
Tutharel: 0.0 Really!
Gova: I cheated, and watched the streams.
Gova grins.
>Arireare lets out a hearty laugh!
Anysu: Nice Gova!!
Tutharel: I will close my ticket for that then. Where are they?
Thosor: tried finding couchgrass around the Camp Banish where it used to be, couldn't find any.
Tutharel: Any one find Snow Lilies yet?
Arireare: theres quite a few that ive not been able to locate, Uadjet, is that somehting that GMs can place?
Gova: Both Lumium mines are near Raurim. NE of it. And the Cinnabar mines are near Homestead, vaguely in the direction of Amdeneir.
Tutharel: Raurim?
Uadjet: Wonky Tree
Uadjet: The tree with h uts in and around it.
Uadjet: As for plants, I've had trouble finding them myself.
Uadjet: And I couldn't see the hops after teleporting to them.
Uadjet: I'll take a look at plant spawns this week.
Tutharel: oh, okay.
Thosor: especially after crafting a bow yesterday, no string material.
Anysu: Think I did see couchrass near camp banished but it was a ways awy from camp.. farther than before.
Thosor: How to make all names of plants and items show as in Legacy?
Thosor: anyway, enough questions for now, sorry.
Anysu: Maybe a show label/name option that pos that name on screen..
Uadjet: Well, the renames are here to stay, I think.
Anysu: *Pops not pos*
Uadjet: But being able to turn labels on would make some things easier.
>Anysu nods at Uadjet.
Uadjet: The new plants are not spawns, though, but action locations. They wouldn't generate a label.
Thosor: make it cost tria :)
Arireare: lol
Gova: It would be nice if once a mine, fishing spot, or harvesting site was found it would show up on the compendium map, but that would be a lot of work.
Anysu: Good idea Gova
Arireare: maybe the ability to make notes on your own map would be simpler?
>Thosor nods at Arireare.
Arireare: there are tabs for discovered plants and such already
Thosor: any way to print? maybe i'll try a screenshot
Arireare: maybe they just get listed there?
Thosor: tabs?
Uadjet: In the compendium. I'm not sure if locations for those items are planned to be there.
Thosor: i show no discoveries there.
Arireare: same
Gova: No, it's blank.
Anysu: Thought it was suppose to show discoveries?
Gova: I'd like to see the compendium map sections pop up to a larger size when selected, and htat larger map would show places where you successfully harvested/mined/fished something. I think wood can be harvested all over the place, so that owuld be an issue.
Anysu nods at Gova
Uadjet: That would be nice, but complex.
Uadjet: Right now I'm going to try and focus on making NPCs and new quests for all of the new areas.
Uadjet: Help would be welcome!
Uadjet: If were start in the small population centers and work outward - placing monsters, plants, etc - the world will feel a lot less empty.
Arireare: im done with carpet for now, a widly available template for quests could help that
Arireare: im not much of a writer, but i can decorate :)
>Anysu nods at Uadjet.
Arireare: is there updated maps like the ones that were on planeshift.org available?
Anysu: Arireare the carpets look great!
Arireare: thanks :D
Arireare: i dont know the logistics of becoming a low tier GM but allowing some the ability to place permanate items or mobs could facilitate some of the placing of things
Uadjet: I don't know of any map slike that, with NPC and item locations added.
Arireare: having low teir GMs and a map like that could take some load off the few active GMs you have, and the all important roadmap
Uadjet: Locking things down is a GM ability, yes, but not a low level command. I've actually forgotten what level it is.
Thosor: Not too much spoilage though, I hope.
Arireare: or like the flyspray work order system, WO#413 Place Clackers around [Place] WO taken by LVL1GM Thosor completed 1/1/24
Uadjet: I think GM3... You start as GM1 and work your way up. GM3 also has /morph, but sadly that doesn't work right in PSU.
Arireare: its how i manage work flow at my work, WOs placed by supervisors and finished by us
Uadjet: We could do that, but plaicing NPCs like clackers requires Dev access, which means Talad.
Thosor ponders handling angry clackers.
Uadjet: I can place items and lock them down, if the items are spawnable.
Uadjet: Not all are.
Uadjet: But we're over half an hour past the teim the meeting was supposed to end.
Thosor: holiday catch-up
Anysu: Sorry Uadjet! Did you have more!!??
Uadjet: No, I think I've covered everything.
Uadjet: We had some good discussions, which is very helpful!
Uadjet: Oh, righ tnow Talad is working on procedural dungeons.
Arireare: watching it :) i want to explore every single one of them
Uadjet: Those could be spawned for a single event, or somethign more long term.
Arireare: gotta fill that guild hall with spoils of random generated dungeons
Uadjet: We just need lots of trap doors.
Arireare: trap doors that dont crash :P
Anysu: What is a procedural dungeon?
Thosor: maybe we don't want to know :)
Thosor: eeek
Arireare: when you enter its randomised so each time you get something a little diffrent than the last time you were there
Anysu: Oh that sounds interesting
Uadjet: It's a way to generate dungeons that don't need to be crafted room by room. Much, much faster, but it takes a lot of work to set up.
Uadjet: But we're now 40 minutes past the end of the meeting, so lets wrap things up.
Uadjet: Thank you all for coming, and I'll see you all again at the next Q&A in two weeks!
Uadjet: Until then, have fun playing and maybe try and event or two!
Thosor: no furthur questions, Your Honor
Anysu: Thnaks for the updates!!
Thosor: yes, the going is good.
>Anysu salutes Uadjet with respect.
>Anysu salutes Gonger with respect.

Uadjet: Hello, and welcome to the Developer's Q&A!
Uadjet: This is an OOC meeting where we tell you what's going on behind the scenes, and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you might have.
Zarre: Hi Uadjet
Uadjet: If you have a question already, please step up to the lecterns in front of the stage.
Uadjet: Hi!
Anysu: Hello
Zarre: Nice to see that Dhergir skin here in PSU too. :)
Uadjet: Yeah, it is!
Uadjet: It's a bit wonky playing one. movement is off, no mantling, etc.
Uadjet: But Talad gave Derghir a homeworld just so that th e game would let me load this character. :)
Uadjet: He also fixed my event character, who ate a bad map section and couldn't be loaded.
Uadjet: That one I found odd.
Zarre: Yay!
Daevaorn: My mum always advised against eating school books or maps. How right she has been!
Thosor: Don't eat yellow maps.
Daevaorn: You never know where such a map has been before.
Zarre: *cought* Yay for the homeworld.
Daevaorn: Just kidding, glad it has been fixed, Uadjet.
Uadjet: Heheh! :)
Zarre:  ^ ^
Uadjet: So I did a bit of a stress test on my new PC yesterday and then earlier today. Four clients at once is doable. I didn't test five.
Uadjet: So I can do multiple characters at events again.
Daevaorn: Nice.
Zarre: great news
Uadjet: I had three yesterday: Maid, cook, and employer.
Thosor: If they don't run off
Gonger: And it was good fun.
>The aura of good health fades away.
Uadjet: Now, behind the scenes Talad has been quite busy.
Uadjet: As usual.
Uadjet: He did some checkign on achievements, including which ones haven't been obtained.
Uadjet: I think I was the first one to start a new guild, on one of the alternate characters on this account, and that one worked.
Uadjet: But if you have time and interest, try to see which achievements you can get.
Uadjet: I don't think the faction ones are working yet.
Thosor: Oh! I missed crashing a guild party?
Daevaorn: They are, Uadjet. I got "Velvet glove in Weavers Tree", when I hit the cap and got deduced points by kethzun
Daevaorn: See the report for the chat transcript
Gova: They aren't. Neither are the mount/familiar ones, or the equip magical items ones other than the first.
Gova: You did? Ah. I'll have to find quests that grant me faction, then. I don't think there are any left.
Daevaorn: Well not sure anymore whether the chat message was pertaining to reaching max rank with a faction or an achievement, now that you said they don't work. %]
Uadjet: Interesting. Wrong faction, but good to see it's working.
Uadjet: I'll have to go through the vid again and see if he checked the mount/familiar ones.
Daevaorn: I have not obtained some exploration ones but that might be due to the fact that the target point/radius has not been touched, (DR, BD)
Uadjet: Maybe it's just only awarded to people who gain a mount or familiar in PSU, and not those who had one before. That seems like it could be solved with a database check.
Gova: The exploring location ones all work. I don't know how small the check radius is.
Gonger: About those achievements... do we have to work through them again from the start? Like collecting x different glyphs?
Gova: I'd swear I saw an NPC in Amdeneir that was the achievement checker. Near the carpenter, I think.
Gova: For glyphs, I just bought some from Levrus.
Daevaorn: I checked my list an can confirm that I got the Weavers Tree Achievement correctly.
Gova: I certainly didn't buy 40 air glyphs. I think it took a reload to get that one.
Uadjet: Maybe buying one triggers a check on the achievement.
Uadjet: If you've been attending the events I've run, you'll easily have 40 glyphs.
Uadjet: Most of Talad's time in the last few weeks has been spent on improving crafting.
Uadjet: That and eating Italian food, I assume.
Uadjet: He's Italian, so it seems a safe assumption.
Anysu: Yeah crafting.
Uadjet: He posted a poll on Discord, asking what people wanted him to work on.l
Uadjet: Crafting won by a good margin, with combat improvements and economy fixes comign second and third.
Uadjet: Not small tasks, of course.
Uadjet: He's fixing crafting books, which don't always display all of the needed information.
Daevaorn: I'd say shortcuts and chat-command support are major issues. Have they been an option in the poll or was that free input?
Daevaorn: (e.g. /target)
>Anysu cheers happily at Uadjet!
Zarre: I've mentioned a couple of times to Talad regarding the need for many more shortcuts.
>Daevaorn nods in agreement with Zarre.
Daevaorn: Working ones would be a start before we address numbers.
>Moving back to valid position in sector (null) sector...
>You feel surrounded by an aura of good health.
>Your Dark Way Resistance is slightly increased.
Zarre: I'm out of shortcuts for a low level alt already. o.0
Daevaorn: What I find more pressing is that targetting is broken when using them.
Gova: Yeah, I had over a hundred, I think. Close to, at least.
Daevaorn: Of course I could also do with at least triple the number we have now.
Zarre: Think I had 250
Uadjet: Targetting when casting spells is an issue that Talad is aware of.
>Daevaorn smiles at Uadjet
Gova: Impressive, Zarrre. Even all of my crafring shortcuts didn't add up to nearly that many.
Uadjet: I'm not sure if Talad wants the /target command, as he rightfully said that new players likely won't want to use chat commands for thing. We older folks don't mind them, but younger players find them a touch... archaic.
Daevaorn: They are essential to effective shortcut programming.
Uadjet: Some might need to be added, though. /target was expecially useful for GM commands as well.
Uadjet: I don't know how much work they would take to add, though.
Uadjet: There's target next whatever, as well as target by name.
Uadjet: I could have used that last one while looking for hops yesterday.
Thosor: too complicated? maybe needs to be simplified like a one-button mouse.
Daevaorn: The whole clicky-clicky is sooo pulling on my nevers.
Zarre: Just checked Gova... the actual # of shortcuts was 152.
Uadjet: I genuinely think hops are invisible.
Daevaorn: Target next is not implemented when I try it. Neither alone nor with /target next player|item|whatever
Daevaorn: Previously simple and frequently repeated tasks like summoning and mounting a Rivnak/Drifter are not possible now.
Zarre: Nevet got to looking for hops out BD rd 1 yet.. just Oja rd 1.
Daevaorn: Not to mention automated moval of items between containers for crafting purposes.
Anysu: I have yet to find many things I used to harvest.
Anysu: All have different names now.
Gova: Yeah, I can't drag the put summon button to my shortcuts.
Daevaorn: Previously it was possible to -type- shortcut commands :-)
Gova: Ah, you can still make a shortcut manually.
Daevaorn: You can't as essential chat commands like target are missing.
Zarre: 12 herbs had their names changed Anysu.Maybe check the PS website for news? I tood a screenshot of the names.
Daevaorn: Actually what was quite cleverly done is that the names where also changed automatically in all player written books.
Gova: Okay. Dont' mount while sitting.
Zarre: And in the quests too
Daevaorn: Not all of them I am afraid Zarre. Not sure why, maybe misspellings.
Zarre: Oh, maybe. Any quest I've found worked.
Daevaorn: Products from herbs have also stuck with their old names. You make Wyn Paste from Blue Orchid Stems now :-D
Zarre: Thought I already mentioned that to him. >.>
Zarre: Never checked it again. xD
Daevaorn: Prolly 0.40 then :-)
Daevaorn: Although I like it, makes herbal so mysterious x)
Zarre: Hey, it was mysterious enough to begin with. ;-)
Daevaorn chuckles.
Gova: I'm looking at the achievement stream, and there are a few that I have that don't have a value indicating tha tsomeone has obtained them. I'm jumping around a bit, so maybe there's a reason.
Daevaorn: But this statement about Talad not wanting to support chat commands anymore really got me worried. It was the one feature that made PS UI/UX smooth and allowed to work with the games complexity.
Daevaorn: And to be frank currently UI/UX is hard to bear.
Uadjet: With crafting, just today Talad got a check working. The game will display required materials, tools, and container and if they are available. It looks pretty nice. :)
Uadjet: Well, I think it's more that he doesn't want it to be required to play the game.
Uadjet: He's not opposed to the option, he just doesn't want it to be the only option.
Uadjet: I'll ask him about /target, given its usefulness.
Arireare: does anyone remember the name of the courier Londris Kolaim is looking for, i had located someone who knew who it was but apprently my character has forgotten and id rather not have a repeate of what happened with Relliom
Daevaorn points two thumbs up.
Daevaorn: Thanks!
Uadjet: Okay, so major progress on crafting and updating textures so far.
Uadjet: The new temple textures are a massive improvement.
Uadjet: I think he said the floor was a 100x100 tile.
Uadjet: It's a bit better now. :)
Uadjet: We're past the hour. Any other questions?
Thosor: No questions, Your Honor
Thosor: The trees in plaza are cool.
Anysu: Is next Dev meet the 31?
Anysu: Which would be new years..
Uadjet: yeah, I don't think there's much of a point holding a meeting then.
Uadjet: The next scheduled meeting is January 14th.
Uadjet: But thank you all for coming, and I'll see you at the next Q&A! Until then, have fun playing!

Uadjet: Hello, and welcome to the Developer's Q&A!
Uadjet: Sorry it's a week late, and the scheduling is wonky this month, but things will be back to normal soon enough.
Gonger: Also the calender is slow in showing updates.
>Anysu waves at Stalfoss
Uadjet: For those who haven't attended a Q&A before, it's an OOC meeting where I let you all know what's going on behind the scenes, and you get the chance to ask questions.
>Anysu greets everyone.
Uadjet: Now, as you may have noticed we've had a new release two days ago.
>Anysu cheers happily!
Uadjet: Actually, if you hadn't noticed it you wouldn't have been able to log in, so you all HAVE noticed.
Uadjet: There have been some upgrades to combat. At the event yesterday, I'll wager at least some of you noticed the new weapon trails we sometimes have.
Leeza: I certainly have.
Uadjet: If you're using a magical weapon, you will get a weapon trail when you swing it. The more powerful the weapon enchantment, the fancier the trail.
>Anysu claps.
Uadjet: Talad has also added the ability to do a shield block.
Uadjet: Equip a shield and hold down the right mouse button, and you should raise your shield to block attacks. You can't attack while doing that, but you can practice the timing to block incoming attacks when still (I hope) getting in some counter-punches.
Gonger: I think I need to do more fighting.
Anysu: Me to
Uadjet: Talad has also added in the ability for GM's to edit items once they're out in the world.
Uadjet: That includes a lot that we normally do via command, just easier. Well, easier if it's one or two items. If I'm locking down 50 items that I've spent a few hours positioning, a single command line is much faster. :)
Uadjet: There are also some new option on that screen that I'm really excited about.
Leeza: Nice
Uadjet: You noticed at the event yesterday that I can now make items attackable. I can also set the hit points for the item.
Leeza: It was so odd to be able to attack the tent and carpets yesterday. xD
Uadjet: Some of it I'll save as a surprise for later events, but this is a fun one...
>Uadjet picked up a Training Dummy
Gonger: But no experience points for hitting / destroying items!
Uadjet: Well, they can't fight back!
>Uadjet picked up an Archery Target
>Uadjet dropped a Trophy of Intelligence.
Uadjet: So one thing makes them larger, and one thing makes them small.
>Uadjet dropped a Two Doors Closet.
Leeza: Just wondered if I could walk through the giant trophy
Anysu: Did like smacking those tent items
Gova: I had to make a hasty exit before people destroyed the bit I was standing on!
>Leeza nods in agreement with Gova.
Anysu: Makes me think of the Lego video games where you can smash everything.
Uadjet: Talad has added some functionality for merchants and containers to either allow access or not based on other factors, like faction.
Uadjet: Wow. The selection circle scales too. Makes sense, but it is huge now.
Uadjet: Question?
Leeza: Any idea when all cooking grills will no longer be considered "out of range?" Noticed today the ones in Oja are out of range.
Uadjet: Ah, I'll go take a look at those.
Leeza: Thanks!
Uadjet: Bascially, when the crafting station is a part of the map and not an item placed on the map, it wiorks by linking an action location to a container placed in a place players can't see it. Below the map, typically.
Uadjet: The game should be checking the distance between the player and the Action Location, but is instead checking the distance between the player and the hidden container.
Uadjet: Hidden Container, Useless Action Location.
Uadjet: A terrible sequel.
Leeza: yeah
Anysu: Are you sitting on a shield edge Uadjet?
Gonger: Oh my, how can I unsee this???
Uadjet: I tried to equp it, but derghir just aren't built for that.
Uadjet: So I'll try to slide those hidden containers up a bit. Maybe that will help.
Uadjet: The Arena and Gug have the same issue.
Uadjet: Thosor?
Thosor: a couple things, 1. some players, new and old missing descriptions, example, Stalfoss here, and...
Thosor: 2. oh wait, please TP ico here, 2.0 coming up
Thosor: Are craft books broken? looked in my stock book for ingots, it stops at molten step, no quenching, and friend Ico doesn't seem to be able to get a boojk.
Ico: hi all
Ico: what's happening?
Thosor: Hi Ico, welcome
Anysu: I to was curious if any craft books were fixed recently.
>Anysu waves at Ico
Thosor: Ico, we are discussing craaft book problem.
Ico: for craft book what you mean?
Ico: i don't know nothing sorry :D
Uadjet: Click on the "Silver Ingot" part, not the little +.
Thosor: When I tried to make an ingot, consulted book, and it was incomplete.
Uadjet: This is a Dev Q&A, where we talk about what's going on behind the scenes and give players a chance to ask questions.
Ico: i cannot reach to make an ingot and i havent book
Thosor: how about iron, checking,.
Ico: ah ok i listen :D
Thosor: ah, I see it now
Anysu: In PS here when you go to make or craft something Ico you need a craft book.
Uadjet: So far we've covered combat changes (weapon trails, shield blocking), the new ability to make objects attackable, and now we're discussing crafting books.
Gonger: Hello Ico. Feel free to ask questions. Outside this meeting, also use the Help channel. What is said there also shows on our Discord!
Ico: i will do gonger thanks^^
Uadjet: Question, Leeza?
Leeza: A while ago I dragged and dropped my glyph sack by mistake. To be able to cast spells after, I needed to research each one again. Is this normal? Maybe I should ask for a feature to lock a container to the inventory window.
Gonger: Good question.
Leeza: I was cooking at the time and moving foot to and from the preparation table.
Leeza: *moving food
Uadjet: Yes, when glyphs are dropped, stored, traded, or in any way leave your inventory they need to be purified again.
Leeza: Alright.
Gonger: Also about glyphs, it is a bit annoying that the purified status is not shown while using Storage.
Thosor: I think I lost a whole sack long ago.
Uadjet: Locking a container seems like a good idea.
Gonger: So it is easy to store the Purified glyph instead of the un-Purified one.
Uadjet: Losing a whole sack, especially a glyph sack...
Uadjet: That would hurt.
Leeza: Good point, Gonger.
>Anysu nods at Uadjet.
>Leeza waves at Ico
Ico: question: is normal to have 2 azure glyph?
Uadjet: Let's see... the idle animations should stop playing at random times while sitting or running.
Ico: it seems that are uniques
Gonger: Absolutely, Ico.
Anysu: Wow. Was the sitting animation fixed? I am not auto standing up. I just was typing that!
Gonger: There are common and uncommon glyphs.
Gonger: It is easy to get a dozen or more common glyphs.
Ico: but are not cumulable right?
Gova: There are 8-13 glyphs for each Way, and I think nearly all glyphs are given out by two different quests.
Gonger: Cumulable to increase power? no.
Gonger: They are stackable, like other items.
Ico: ok
>Anysu cheers happily at Uadjet!
Leeza: Hmm... would be a nice thing though, Ico! :D
Uadjet: Helms should not longer look like they've been driven down into people's skulls...
Uadjet: More music...
Ico: for more music i have many sources availables^^
Anysu: lol. How about more Dance emote actions?
>Thosor begins to dance.
Uadjet: More music is always good.
Uadjet: Talad added some to the Dryken Plane.
Uadjet: As for more dances, I did propose using some dance animations from Mixamo for the Enkis in Oja's plague zone.
Uadjet: Specifically, the dance animations from Michael Jackson's Thriller.
Uadjet: They did not take that suggestion seriously.
Ico: before adding dance animation fixing existing animation? :P
Uadjet: Likely a wise choice.
Anysu: awe..
Ico: i saw only mining and 1 on 1 is to be fixed :D
Uadjet: So, any questions?
Thosor: player descriptions missing?
Ico: that i have to ask, where is to put in ?
Uadjet: Ah, yes.
Ico: i dont find the text editor
Thosor: Stalfos, even is missing his
Uadjet: Right-click on yourself and choose Look.
Ico: ahhh thanks
Gonger: My description is not missing, I think Stalfos(s) never had one...
Uadjet: On the window that pops up, there is a little pen icon on the right hand side.
Ico: and an eventual image to upload ? :D
Thosor: there was a new dwarf I saw earlier without description too.
Anysu: I think Gonger is right about Stalfos description
Uadjet: MyPlane hasn't been ported yet, but there was the ability to put a picture there.
Anysu: Isn't description picked by player? Maybe they do not want one?
Gonger: It will come again, Ico. Patience is the key to success in PlaneShift!
Ico: ahahaha
Uadjet: There is no rule requiring a character description.
Thosor: what about the auto thing, strengths they have, etc. are they stronger, weaker than you for example.
Uadjet: If you want to RP, one is highly suggested. They really, really help.
Gonger: Yes, Description and Out of Character Notes are set by the player.
Gonger: Character Background evolves with the character playing the game.
Anysu: Check Stalfoss again, Thosor, there is a change and something there now.
Uadjet: The character background tab is filled automatically, but the rest is largely blank.
>Anysu nods at Gonger.
Thosor: ok, I see. but wondering about the starting atributes, that no longer happens? "you survived a flood"
Uadjet: I suppose the descripion is like tree rings: New layers keep getting added as time passes.
Ico: made :)
Uadjet: Ah. It may not, for characters created in Unreal.
Leeza: Seems like the faction isn't identified in the "Character Background" window.
Ico: i havent infact
Gonger: Thosor, they show for my character under Character Background: You guarded the vault.
Uadjet: It's different, at least.
Leeza: For example: "Thanks to your actions, the members of this faction see you as a friend, and are eager to spend time with you."
Thosor looks at Ico's description: wow that was fast, I thought it would say 'I wish Thosor would quit bothering me'
Uadjet: Which makes sense, as character creation is different.
Ico: ahahah
Anysu: Yeah what Leeza said.. doesn't tell the faction name.
Ico: what you mean for faction?
Ico: as a guild?
Uadjet: The various groups and guilds.
Uadjet: Professional, like smiths or weavers, plus religious factions, combat style factions, magic orders, and so forth.
Ico: i made in unreal and i have this
Ico: Thanks to your actions, the members of this faction recognize you and are happy to speak with you. Thanks to your actions, the members of this faction see you as a friend and are eager to spend time with you.
Leeza: Ok...but which faction is telling you this? ;--)
Uadjet: Yeah, that info should be in there.
Ico: ah ok you are asking too much
Uadjet: Factions are still being worked on.
Anysu: Mine looks same as Ico and I made in Legacy. Still not faction names.
Anysu: as Leeza said.
Ico: ah another thing
Uadjet: Factions aren't quite done yet. A couple of the devs are working on sorting it out, but as it's more complicated than it was in Legacy it can't just be copied over.
Ico: only for me map is not usable?
Uadjet: The map in the compendium?
Ico: yes
Uadjet grins.
Ico: a lot of unuseful squares
Uadjet: You need to buy sections of that map from vendors or other players.
Ico: ah ok
Ico: nice ^^
Uadjet: Pterosaur handlers are a good place to start.
Ico: and once that i have how can i apply?
Ico: i have 2 scrolls of map now
Gonger: Never forget that PlaneShift is now and always will be Work In Progress.
Leeza: Need to be rich to buy a map here. They cost 5,000 tria each
Ico: gonger i know^^
Uadjet: That just makes it fun!
Ico: i have hydlaa
Ico: and there is the job cartographer? :P
Thosor: undercutting me Leeza?
Leeza: Good :)
Anysu: You can drag map onto your figure from inventory as if eating it or equiping it Ico
Leeza looks over at Thosor, "Is that even possible? I think not!"
Thosor: put it in middle of your inventory screen
Ico: tem cannot be equipped
Ico: he told me :D
Uadjet: Yeah, 24 factions, and all NPCs and quests need to be assigned, if appropriate.
Uadjet: Is it a blank map bought from teh library, or a such-and-such overview map?
Ico: map from quest
Ico: never bought them
Ico: maps and sketches are not supported yet for viewving
Ico: if i right click
Anysu: That is different then.
Uadjet: That's not a compendium map piece. Those always have Such-And-Such Overview Map as a name.
Anysu: Compeddium ones are purchased
Leeza: I don't have any of those yet either, Ico.
Ico: Hydlaa mainmap
Ico: and hydlaa eastmap
Thosor: I got some comp maps at events
Uadjet: I can lead people to maps, but GM-spawned maps break characters.
Ico: better not^^
Ico: but question before: cartographer exists as job?
Ico: so player can make map themselves?
Ico: just for curiosity^^
Uadjet: Talad just fixed my Uadjet and Event characters, who were both bugged in different ways. The event char used a spawned map piece, and the game kept trying to load race info that Derghir have never had.
Ico: not for me, for a friend :P
Uadjet: They would be explorers, and therefore part of Essential Trail.
Uadjet: We'd need to get drawings up and running first, and I don't know how much work is involved there.
Leeza: Maybe even add more details than the current maps available?
Gova: Hmm. Only 14 factions for me.
Thosor: mi think 15 here'
Uadjet: That would be nice. The compendium map was made with an external program. I was thinking the ohter day about being able to open a single section of the map and get more detail. Like explored mines. You find a mine, and a generic pick shows up on the focused map. Mine something there, and an ore icon of the appropriate color pops up in front of the pick and the mouseover gives the ore type.
Uadjet: Some herb types could work there too. I think trees are a bit too widespread for that to be viable. It would be nothing but log icons covering the map.
Thosor: yeah, that reminds me, I had to harvest a plant before seeing what it was.
Leeza: Maybe NPC's like Grok and Nyshun too?
Ico: is not normal this? thosor?
Anysu: That be cool Uadjet
Uadjet: Well, we're well past the hour, but today felt really productive.
Thosor: Ico, I used to jut either see names over plants or at mouse pointer in legacy. here you have to get your tool out.
Thosor: i had to switch pick for scyth today
Ico: just for to know the token of the player will be changeble in the future? as the panel you told before is ported
Uadjet: The token?
Ico: when you group in the list of players
Ico: there is an iage
Ico: image
Uadjet: Oh, in the group box?
Uadjet: I wasn't even looking at that.
Uadjet: In Legacy it would show an image. There was one for each race and gender.
Arireare: so how do i identify items
Ico: quite confusing if group is large?
Leeza: We couldn't choose that avatar/image.. the game just adds them automatically.
Ico: as yesterday
Daevaorn: You cast a Blue Way spell on them.
Daevaorn: Or have someone else do it.
Anysu: Generic, just like in Legacy the image. But The group does list character names.
Arireare: hmm, i really need to find the rest of the glyphs im missing like half i think
Uadjet: I'm not aware of any plans to change that. We'd need a lot of new images.
Ico: mmmh :D i will think on how to do and then ripropose :D
Leeza: I must be on my way. Thanks for the meeting and updates.
Ico: hi leeza^^
>Thosor waves at Leeza
Gova: I've got 63 glyphs, last I checked. There are quite a few out there. :)
Uadjet: Yeah, I have to be going too. The Europeans need some sleep, I'll wager. :)
Uadjet: Thank you all for coming, and I'll see you at the next Q&A in two weeks! until then, have fun playing and maybe try and event or two!

General Discussion / Let's get ancient players back...
« on: January 01, 2024, 08:52:57 am »
Dear all,

This has been discussed before, and we really should get going now.
Let's try to get ancient players back. We all miss friends of old we would like to see back in the game.

I propose the following steps:

  • Send an official invitation mail to all existing mail addresses. I add a draft below, all reasonable comments are welcome.
  • In one or two months, send a reminder. No more afterwards, we do not want to spam people.
  • Give the Guild Leader of each guild (or some other represantant of the guild) a list of their members' addresses for a more personal invitation.
  • Give every player upon request the mail addresses of five people they would love to be back in the game. Please note: I am not sure this is a good idea, since popular ex-players might in fact be spammed. I include this anyway and hope for comments.

This is the draft of the official mail:

******************************** DRAFT_BEGIN ********************************

Dear friend,

It has been a long time since last you ventured to Yliakum, and much has changed ever since: Since end of April 2023, the Unreal Engine version of PlaneShift is running.
What started out as a migration project over the years finally became a new version with plenty of new content:
  • New locations with new NPCs and new quests
  • A dungeon filled with traps and treasure
  • Crafting improvements
  • Everything simply looks a bit nicer - except that players still want the Legacy transport pterosaurs back - they simply looked more impressive!
  • And so much more, check news for all details: https://www.planeshift.it/news

So what could be a better start of the new year then a new experience of PlaneShift?

Download it, meet old friends again, and make new friends - or enemies, for two things will never change: PlaneShift is Fully Free to Play, and RP-oriented.

See you soon!

The PlaneShift team

********************************* DRAFT_END *********************************

Please let us know what you think of this.

Travel safely,

Gonger

General Discussion / Dev Q&A October 22th 2023
« on: November 01, 2023, 03:21:39 pm »
Talad (Leader/Founder)
Eonwind (Rules)
Tuathanach (Rules)
Zunna (Rules/Settings)
Mordaan (Settings)
Venalan (Settings Lead)
Uadjet (GM Lead)
Emaline (GM Team)
Zweitholou (Art)
Gonger (PR)

Aachey: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is an out-of-character meeting where you can hear about the development of the game and ask the Dev and GM teams any questions you might have. If you do have any questions, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Aachey: If there are no new questions, I'll give you a quick rundown on what's been happening behind the scenes.
Gonger: I would like to discuss something...
Aachey: Go ahead.
Gonger: There are newbies arriving, but right now practically nobody seems to stay. I whisper them, and rarely get an answer, and then they are gone.
Gonger: There is a lot of negative feedback coming through the Help channel.
Gonger: So my idea now is:
Gonger: What about deactivating the Drykken Plane for a while so newbies start with the tutorial quests?
Gonger: And see whether then more newbies decide to stay.
Gonger: An experiment.
Aachey: That may be worthwhile.
Aachey: The Labyrinth could just be streamlined, blocking off dead ends temporarily so that it's less confusing. More linear.
Gonger: Frankly, even if we keep improving the Plane, it still will give a wrong first impression of the game.
Gonger: Add the Plane at some point later in the game... a weird spell shows you this part of your arrival which you had forgotten... anything like this...
Aachey: I'll admit, I think the Dryken Plane only really works if you start in a regular map and go through the Dryken Plane, but that means creating a new map for each homeworld. Two for the elven homeworld, as that one has two portals.
Damola: Yeah, that may work. But until then:
Damola: I like Gonger's idea. I'd try it.
Aachey: Ahh, a flashback kind of thing? That could work narratively. Have an NPC talk to the newbie, and then have them go through the Dryken stuff. When they complete it, they're back at the NPC.
Aachey: Something like that?
Gonger: Yes.
Gonger: Thus we do not lose the Plane (I find the construct interesting, but not at the beginning) and have an easier entrance for newbies.
Gonger: We should NOT give up on it, but move it to a later point.
Gonger: Any player who went through the quest with the changing rooms will pass Drykken Plane also.
Gonger: I forgot the name of the quest.
Anysu: good idea to try
Anysu: without the Plane.
Gova: Menita's Puzzle?
Gonger: Yes, Gova. Thank you.
Gova: That quest should maybe be tested. I don't know if all of the teleports will work here.
Aachey: There's a very real chance that NONE of them will work. I'll give it a try.
Gova: Is the Dryken Plane where youj go in that quest? I just assumed Menita whipped out a Hookah Glyph and sent our minds elsewhere.
Aachey puts on Jefferson Airplane's White Rabbit.
Anysu: Never did that quest.
Gonger: Follow the White Rabbit.
Gonger: That is NOT from the Matrix, originally, by the way.
Aachey chuckles.
Gonger: Nobody?
Aachey: But that's a good idea. The Dryken Plane isn't really the best representation of what the game is like.
Gonger: Alice in Wonderland.
Gonger: But now comes the difficult part, Aachey...
Aachey: I just assumed everyone knewabout Alice in WOnderland.
Aachey: I certainly ripped it off for the last few Legacy events.
Aachey: Convincing Talad?
Gonger: You read my mind.
Gonger: But that was not hard in this case.
Aachey: Yeah.
Aachey: Talad is travelling at the moment - or was over the last week - but we could discuss it with him at a Q&A.
Aachey: We've talked on Discord.
Gonger: Amazing song, by the way. I think I never heard that one before.
Gonger: Does anybody here think it is NOT worth trying?
Gonger: Temporarily disable the Plane.
Karzela: I think it is a fine idea, but Talad may think differently.
Gonger: We will go through that door when we come to it.
Aachey: Let's build a player base again, before we chase them off. :)
Karzela: The seed was well planted in Discord earlier today.
Aachey: After all, chasing off players by dropping ulbernauts on them is a GM's job.
Gonger: Well said, Aachey.
Gonger: Right now we lose too many newbies too quickly.
Gonger: And honestly, I do not want to advertise right now, and lose people who might stay when starting with the Quests...
Gonger: So let's try to force this down Talad's... ehrm, I mean, let's convince him to try it.
Karzela mumbles, "A bit more respect from the stage..."
Anysu: Speaking of whispers, can a player choose not to have a whisper option in thier chat?
Aachey: So Talad has kept working on the tribes element of the game.
Aachey: Choose to not display it in main, or not have it at all?
Anysu: choose to not to have it.
Aachey: You can turn off the ability to see whispers in main by going to Options->Interface, and under chat text to main tab turn the button by whisper to off. I don't think we can remove that tab entirely, as it's part of the UI.
Anysu: Okay so it can be turned off. I asked because if someone sent a whisper to another and they didn't have whispers on they would not see it and reply.
Aachey: If the option is off they may not see that the whisper tab is highlighted. Especially if they're new.
Anysu: I just wodered that if Gonger was whispering and no newbie saw it or didn't have the option on so didn't reply because of that.
Gonger: Oh, excellent point, Anysu.
Aachey: So Talad has it working such that gobble tribes can gather resources, and use that resource (like rocks or carp) to develop their home. In the case of gobbles, they can build more fires, and eventually more huts.
Aachey: Players can slow that down by killed gobbles, and reverse it by attacking and destroying the huts and (presumably) fires.
Gova: Eagle gobbles and sewer gobbles are nice and shouldn't be picked on, but serpent gobbles are jerks and I wouldn't mind messing up their huts.
Karzela: Personally, I always loved the look of the tattooed gobbles and their huts.
Aachey: And in time this will be expanded to other creatures.
Aachey: I think Talad started with gobbles because they have huts already in the database, but creatures like Tlokes, Tefusangs, and Ulbernauts will have nests too.
Aachey: He's also got a nice surprise coming, though he's only posted in in Supporters so I can't say what it is. :)
Aachey: And no, I won't answer questions.
Aachey: Also, he's now checked the Observatory NPC locations and will be adding them to the game shortly.
Aachey: It'll be a nice surprise, Anysu. :)
Karzela: Well done!
Karzela: Hundreds of shortcuts!!!
Aachey: I'm quite fond of the NPCs I create, perhaps unsurprisingly, so I love to see them in game.
Gonger: I am trying to remember the surprise... I guess I must cheat, and check the Supporters channel.
Gonger: Ah, yes. People will love this.
Daevaorn thinks Gonger is a tease.
Aachey: What's the point of getting advance notice if you can't dangle it in front of other people?
Daevaorn: Any news on the more pressing UI/UX issues like the said shortcuts?
Daevaorn: Sorry if I missed that question before.
Anysu: Or maybe it will be more dance emote options! Would like that!
Aachey: Nobody had asked that yet today. I know Talad is working on it, but I have nothing to report right now.
Daevaorn: Thanks.
Aachey: Any other questions?
Karzela: None from me.
Aachey: Don't forget, the /mute command supports the area syntax. :P
Anysu: Thank you Uadjet and Gonger for the updates.
Aachey: I think we can bring the meeting to a close, then. Thank you all for coming, and I'll see you at the next Q&A in... three weeks, this time. Until then, have fun playing and maybe give an event or three a try!
Aachey: Oh, and I finished another couple quests. Forgot to mention that.

PS I am not allowed to create a new subject under PlaneShift News and Rules, so I chose General Discussion. I do not think it makes much of a difference.

Newbie Help (Start Here) / How to help Newbies. Some thoughts and ideas.
« on: September 05, 2023, 05:57:43 pm »
Dear all,

Newbies do not have a simple start to PlaneShift right now because the current player base is low, and often hardly anybody is online. As I write this, Gonger is all alone...
We need new players, we want new players, but how are we going to give them support? I discussed the following ideas during the latest Dev Meeting, and people seemed to agree:

  • In the PS Launcher, add buttons that lead to the Discord Channel or the Forums.
  • In the In-Game Help Channel, add a text with the links to the Discord Channel or the Forums. Links that actually work would be even better, but may be hard to implement. (Thanks to Uadjet for the idea of working links.)

With easier access to Discord Channel or the Forums, newbies will easier get support. At least for solo players this will be very useful.
But what about people who join PlaneShift because they want to Role-Play (which is one of the distinctive features of PlaneShift)? They need other people online, so it would be great if some of you were online more often. So many people on Discord, so few online, it just does not make sense.

PlaneShift is a complex game, so pretty much everybody will be glad about some guidance when getting started. As things are now, I fear we will lose many newbies because of a lack of support. A few weeks ago a newbie asked a question in the Help channel when I was AFK. Nobody else was there to answer the question, so the newbie left... and I never saw this newbie again!
Since I finally am on holiday now, I will take up advertizing again, but I will do so with a kind of stomach ache because I am not sure this is the best moment. But then, who can tell when the best moment would be?

I hope it will be possible to give more support to newbies. Everybody can help by connecting to the game a bit more often. Then newbies will see that there are people present in our world, and even a late answer to a newbie question will be more useful than no answer at all!

Thank you for reading, and thank you for your support.

Travel safely,

Gonger

In-Game Roleplay Events / This is the end... of PS Legacy
« on: April 28, 2023, 01:43:29 pm »
Greetings to all!

Talad announced on Discord that PlaneShift Legacy will be stopped. This is the full text:

Hello @everyone, PlaneShift Legacy server is going down at the end of this weekend after being up for more than 20 years, with very few interruptions. 550.000+ accounts created, hundreds of thousands of characters built, hundreds of events, tournaments, weddings, merchant days, adventures and roleplay.
Thanks to all who contributed to its creation through all this time! Hundreds of people who added ideas and content from lore to 3d, from music to rules, in a journey through technology and discovery. A special thanks to @McJty for creating Crystal Space Engine that made PS Legacy possible!
The spirit of Legacy is still very alive and now transmigrated in PSUnreal! The journey continues as we write another chapter of history. I wish the new version long life and a happy future! Thanks to the old and new developers/contributors to make PSUnreal better and better every release.  Let's go!
In the previous announcement of "The Switch" you can see some old screenshots. If you want to take some in game, this is the last chance! https://www.planeshift.it/article/2023/PlaneShift%20Unreal%20The%20Switch

We all knew the day would come, but still Legacy will be dearly missed.
So many people (friends and not-friends), so many hours, so many events, so much RP, so many memories.
I do not know if something special is planned for the final weekend, but in any case there will be a final event run by Uadjet.

Check the PS website, Discord, and (I guess) the forums for details...

Unreal Engine / Advertising of PSU
« on: April 01, 2023, 06:09:06 am »
A good day to you all.
Now that PSU is open to all we should think more about advertising again. There are still some issues to be resolved (like traps, looting, light), but as soon as the Dev team has sorted them out, we should spread the word.
That's where the PR team comes in - meaning me, right now.
So here is an overview about plans and ideas.
  • I think I have a pretty good view on mentions of PlaneShift, because that is done with some simple googling. On many websites I left small reviews, or corrected misgivings there.
  • It is much more difficult to find websites where PS is not mentioned at all. So we have to find them and put a small review there, or make them mention PS in some other way.
And this is where you come in: If you know any website about MMORPGs that does not mention PS, drop me a line, and I will try my best to change this.
(I write that "I will try my best" because past experience shows that not all websites are interested in mentioning an independent game without budget...)
  • Since I am trilingual, I would like to do more on German and French websites.
  • The wikipedia articles (at least) in English, German, French need rewriting. I did minor corrections already and will open a separate thread about this because this is a major project.
  • We need to improve our ranking in google searches. For example, a  google search for free mmorpg gives six pages of results, but PS does not show!
  • The website could be better in certain parts, but this should also be discussed separately.
  • Some people have been making PS video tutorials, I hope there will be more of these. Maybe those who are interested in doing video tutorials can get in touch with me so we can coordinate this a bit? It would not make much sense to have several tutorials covering one subject, and none for other subjects.
This is quite a lot already, but I am sure some of you can add some valid points to that list. I am open to all ideas, and of course accept help. The PR team is hiring!

And everybody can help. Point me to websites where PS is not mentioned, or mentioned wrongly.
Spread the news among your friends.

Most important: Have fun with PSU.

Greetings to all!
Disclaimer: I do not claim any special knowledge about gaming hardware. My post is only meant to start a thread to help to those who are in (hardware) trouble after the move to PS Unreal. So please do correct my mistakes, show alternatives, and present ideas of your own!
Let's help our friends!

The minimum requirements listed on the PS website are these:

Windows 10, CPU Intel Core2Duo 3.0Ghz e8400
GeForce Gtx 650 Ti 2Gb card
4Gb RAM , HDD space 15Gb

I am running PS on a six year old PC smoothly and with the highest settings:

Windows 10, 8 Intel Core i7-6700 3.40Ghz
GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
16Gb RAM

My PC is well above the minimum requirements but far from being a high end machine.

I made some very quick search for roughly equivalent machines, and found this one for 277 Euros:

Windows 11, Intel Core i5 6500 Quad Core
Intel UHD Graphics
16 GB DDR4 RAM

Please note that this is only an example, NOT a purchasing recommendation!!! But, unless I am totally mistaken (and, again, do tell if I am!), this example shows that it may be less expensive to play PSU than you think.
I am sure others can and will present better ideas.
Even though I speak only of Windows PCs here, of course suggestions for Linux or Mac users with problems are most welcome, too. But especially for Mac users a small PC might be a good solution.

Thank you for helping our friends!
