Development Team Blog / Re: New Stuff thats comming
« on: November 15, 2017, 05:11:11 pm »
Most of this has been released now, I'm discussing with Talad about getting access to the process of issuing art updates. If this happens I will begin pushing out updates as soon as we have things to release.

Looks like I also deleted this video without realising what it was.

Development Team Blog / New Stuff thats comming
« on: September 23, 2017, 03:08:41 pm »
So,

All this stuff will be out with the next update.

Having spoken with players I've adjusted categories so books, maps, and music should now be in their own category which I hope will make storing and using them easier for you gus. (as well as naming wands, staves).

I've also set up 'public' music scores and maps. So now people can make one and give it to someone else who can then edit it. This will be the same as books are handled.

I've also added in new art definitions which players can now use in art/books/UI etc. If you want to see what they are you can look in PlaneShift\art\skins\base\client_base.zip\maps\ and all the art in all the folders in this file can now be used.

I've also created a towel item, which apparently we've been missing one despite having the art for one. I think this will likely be buyable from a merchant. A number of the older released items like presents will be available from merchants as well.

Thats all for now.

Enjoy,

Venalan

Development Team Blog / Re: How to add images to BOOKS or MAPS.
« on: September 11, 2017, 02:34:11 pm »
Hey all, so Mishka and I have been talking a bit about art bundled with the client and its use in books/maps, the next art update will have some additional art available to players which has always been in the client but never accessable.

Part of this work has also led to Mishka to making some maps and has been kind enough to allow me to share two of them here.

Below are the image and the xml code to the make them.

True, if enough people really want to be able to hold a quiver in their hand as a prop only. We can add it.

How about making equiable version? would look coooool

Two problems, first, if you hold a container it messes up the inventory display so I don't want to make that something people will be exposed to if I can help it (you can see this if you hold a picnic basket). Second, I would love to make them equipable on the back but there are is attach points for the art to be displayed on characters backs, and I dont have access to be able to make one, and also the first bug would also come into play as well.

Nice, I thought that bench would be a good item years ago.

Me too, so I figured I would do it while working on this round of art stuff.

So I'm in the middle of adding two new items which will evenutally be available to players.

The first is just making a bench already in PS a stand alone item.

The second is a quiver. This item will only function as a container in your inventory. You wont be able to hold or ware it or use it as a container during combat with ranged weapons. This would require additional server code to support its function during combat. So for now it will be a prop more than anythin else.

Development Deliberation / Re: New Cal3d code download location.

Yes it will be rendered obsolete, however it will still be a significant amount of time until we move to the UE4 engine. So, as people may still want to build a local client we are making sure they can get the code.

Hey,

The repository for the Cal3D code used while building PS [svn://svn.gna.org/svn/cal3d/trunk/cal3d] is no longer available as gna.org has shutdown.

Talad has made a copy of the code available and hosted by us.

So the current skills we have implemented are as follows;

Alchemy
Axe or sword or ranged or kives & dagger or mace & hammer or melee or polearm & spear (you can pick one each quest completion)
Baking
Cooking
Empathy
Fishing
Harvesting
Herbal
Minning

Mace making is basically complete, thanks to Tuathanach.

We need all other skills completing. Skills like jeweley making or leather working could be simple 'make me X' *get a level*, where as things like lock picking, body development and music could (and maybe should) be more story based as we can not check someone can play or compose music so the quests could be short tasks which are highly variable where you get a level once your done, like the variable quest where your given travel tokens.

I suggest you try and come and talk with me about doing any of these quests either on IRC or when i'm in game. I'm always very hapy to with a player again to make more of these skill based quests.

Wish list / Re: useful glyph drops from bosses

It was in reply to you Migg. Guaranteed means guaranteed, which means there should be no glyphs only given in quests where you can end up not getting that glyph as a reward. If you know or think I might have missed something let me know.

Every glyph can be gotten at least once, I set the glyph rewards up in such a way to make this a certainty. If however I've made a mistake and there are some which can't be guaranteed to be obtained, or even if people are unsure they are guaranteed, let me know and i'll look into it.
