haelp plx! Er.. Connection problems..sort of..
« on: November 25, 2004, 10:01:18 pm »
Hello, i\'d like to start off saying that I am a big fan of MMORPGs, and this is an incredibly cool game.

But.. there\'s a problem.

The first time I ever connected I got on perfectly fine. No problems, nothing. However, it was a little laggy. Which leads me to my first problem.

I know it\'s not the servers fault, but my computers. Is there any changes I can make to the resolution to make it run faster? On my other games I full screened it but it didn\'t help much here.

With that over with, here\'s my other problem. I can\'t connect. At all.

I log in with my name, and it says initializing world. Of course this will take a while, but it takes longer than it should. And when it actually finishes, the game logs in, and freezes instantly. Theres nothing wrong with my graphics card or anything because I logged in before completely unscathed .

I\'d really appreciate any help, because I\'m really rather bored here.. a nice game might cheer me up a bit ^_^.

Here\'s a snapshot I got while it was loading stuff.. I managed to get it before it went away. Maybe this means something? The word \'failed\' usually doesn\'t bode well in these situations..

Don\'t post the same question twice. If a mod comes on, they will move it to the appropriate forum.

Anyway, run the program \"pssetup.exe\" to set the resolution and color depth to lowest, and also try \"software mode\" (it may help)
Anything that you might have installed in the meantime might have corrupted some part of windoze, maybe the directx or graphics drivers, which might be the reason. Otherwise, you might try to reboot to get windoze back into some working shape. Also, make sure that you have enough swap space (at least 200 MB) and 200 MB of RAM. Also close all other programs that might be running, as PB needs lots of memory.

Edit: The failure messages aren\'t of any importance, they\'re normal (there will be four of them). However, the \"alternate driver\" message doesn\'t appear on my system, therefore there might be some problem with your graphics drivers despite it having worked once, maybe corruption by installation of ned software (games) or driver updates.
