Flash intro on planeshift.it

(NOTE: I debated putting this in Hydlaa Plaza, but it pertains to Planeshift... move it if you feel the need)


I was just wondering, what exactly does the \"streaming graphics\" mean on the flash intro?

I mean, \"streaming video\" and \"streaming audio\" are streams, but in planeshift, do we have a render farm that streams graphics? Is that why the frame-rate is so low?

^I know, there isn\'t anything...^

So what exactly does \"streaming graphics\" mean?

I don\'t think that flash intro has changed in 4 years.  It\'s high time we\'ve done a better one but nobody has stepped up yet .

I believe it\'s just a message that appears to tell you the graphics for the flash animation are being downloaded.

Streaming means, while u download u can watch it butit buffers and then u download 1% and then u watch 1% then u downlaod another % and  u whatch that  lol

I used a decompiler to root around in the swf just recently, and streaming graphics is just used in place of the same old \"Loading...\"
The script loops through the same 6 frames, checking each time whether the last frame is loaded, and when it is it starts playing.

Any regular flash file that you open streams as it plays, that\'s the reason some animations look choppy, but many things, like this intro, pre-load the graphics to make it smoother.

id never watched the intro until 2 days ago, because i was bored witht he server shutting down and all, and i must say the intro looks very impressive! lol i was like omg this game is so cool!  why havnt i seen all these cool places before?

whoa, for some reason, i never realized that the current town is inside the stalactite! but in the intro it clearly says it, and you can see the sky kinda has a ceiling! thats so cool! i never looked at the sky in MB. i always thought we were like, ontop of where the stalactite was or something. is the whole game going to be in the stalactite? or will there be other places to go? like is the big white building thing on teh cliff on teh edge of one of the levels in the stalactite, or is it in some other place on the surface? this is so cool!

slap me if im wrong or but most of those places will eventually be in ps... all the fun of exploring.. as for the blue city of yliakum, that pic is probably artist idea of who hydlaa would look in about 5 years of development time ;)
