whenever i click update the windows shows up then crashes

same here. it comes up with the small dos box with the blinking text line then moves into the slightly bigger box but freezes. Then a window comes up saying it has encountered a problem \"send problem\" blah blah, then closes.

when I update or watch settings I get a virus alert
