crashing during initial loading of maps

simply put. during the first time the psclient loads the maps it crashes.

i have run the updater a couple of times. as of about 10-ish this morning est it was up to date. i have turned off the sound.

when i get home tonight i\'ll reinstall and re-update it. but, before i try that is there anything else that i could try? or be aware of?

I have the same problem, as well does many others, I assume your trying to leave the death realm aren\'t you. From what I have read and seen the last update befor they closed the updater (As you might notice it can\'t find the laanx server) but the last update was bad, now anyone who dies and tried to revive are thourghaly screw untill they open the updater with a patch so we can go about our pointless beta testing lives. :-D

So basicly in a day or two we will be able to use those characters again but untill than you\'ll have to play with a new character. Weather all this info is correct or not I\'m am no entirely sure but its better to have that than for this thread to go unanswered.

i\'m not even getting that far... after clicking join game at the start of the client it gets to the second line of the progress and bang crashes hard.

i wish i was getting to the death realm. then i could see what the fuss was about.

I know what you mean, thats the exact same problem I have and many others.

And I tried making a new character to just do something in the mean time and it too crashed like my main character. Not sure whats up with that, uninstalling and reinstalling did no good both times I did it. I think we\'re just screwed untill the admins make teh patch for it which shouldn\'t take long I assume considering this will really grow as a major problem in the next day or two.

So my suggestions are... play something else for a day or two than come back to see if the problem is resolved yet. Sucks I know, I want to play as well but i\'m also stuck outside of the game.

i have it to. try wiping all traces of CB from ur comp and startin all over. o and run ad ware or spybots. spyware was makin me crash for 3 days

Have you tried that or are you suggesting it?. cause unless you tried it and it worked I\'m not gonna do it cause I don\'t think it would work. its a problem in there last update not a PC problem so I don\'t think we can do anything about it at all unless we get a whole new account and start from there.

Umm possible tip for those that goof up there game like we did. Don\'t uninstall and reinstall, you can\'t update than(Updater is down remember). at least you can build and play a different character in the mean time, just not your messed up one. I found this out the hard way.

Well after the recent update I seem to have the crashing/death-realm thing working better but still the occasional crash though not when loading  :D

update:

i\'m not sure which. but it was either the latest round of updates, or the defrag of the related drive did the trick.

however, i am puting my tria on the latest round of updates.

yup, with the new update comes a playable game, but now I can\'t play with any sound which really sucks. Boy this game has a lot of work to go befor its even stable.

It has taken me about an hour to get this post in - Forum has new year jitters I think.

Since I ran the updater on 30/12, whenever I logged into planeshift it would crash. I was able to log in and it rarely crashes, if I do the following:

-Turn sound off
-Ensure vertex buffering is off
-Resolution of 800x600, NOT fullscreen
-Whenever I change zones, I have the mouse cursor outside the PlaneShift window (thx for the suggestion from someone in IRC)

Most times when I don\'t have these settings (especially fullscreen) it crashes.

have the same problem, run the updater at 31/12 and game crashed after choosing my character.
As far as I remember a lot of people have this problem since a day or 3, if this problem IS related to the update then why don\'t they remove the update befor more people can\'t play anymore?
