Deleted posts count - comments
« on: January 07, 2005, 05:39:18 pm »
Well the topic top is locked and should be left as is as it simply gives information about this strange variable.

Strange variable, yes it is, it is a meaningless pointless variable. Most forum software don\'t even bother recording how many posts were deleted. Also I not sure if it is working correctly anyway.

I had 3 posts and 1 thread of mine disappearing already, yet show 0 posts deleted. If the thread was not moved to a administrators hidden forum and indeed deleted, it does indicate that the deleted post counter does not record every deleted post and thus inaccurate variable to even be displayed or used for any decision making.

On forums which I am moderator of, I must say I have deleted many entire threads, and thousands of posts already. Trust me the number of posts deleted definitely has no impact on any decision the moderator or admin makes when dealing with forum members. It is the content of the posts that usually gets you into trouble.

No decisions are made due to a deleted posts count. Personally I don\'t see why we have it either, but there you go.

As I\'ve explained, posts within deleted threads do not get counted.
