Request: New Sub Forum => "Official Announcements"

Hello all,

after doing a search and not finfing anything concerning this topic I would like to make a request.

I think the community would really benefit from a sub forum for official announcements and requests by the developers.
I think this would greatly enhance usability especially for \"newcomers\" and possibly reduce redundant questions.
For my part I normally scan all sub forums for interesting news but I find it a bit disturbing that \"interesting stuff\" from the devs or mods sometimes appears scattered over all subforums (new releases, news, requests for testers and such).

What does everybody else think about this idea?

Hmm, well anything important is usually on the main site or sent along the mailing list.

yeah, there already is the news page on the main page.  However it would be good so that there was a place that everyone could discuss that particular announcement in one place, instead of 5 people starting different threads..

Well if you want something that just posts the Official Anouncements how about a Closed Sticky in the General Section that gets updated whenever a new annoincement comes out?

Just check the main site and don\'t be lazy. Poor devs have their hands full as it is.

True there is a news page on the main site but that seems to mostly have things about interviews and the such, meanwhile servers going down and the such are either scatered or not present (I didn\'t find one official statement until much later about the update server being down), if there was this new news section all you would have to do is add a new thread and say what the news is (stickied or lock\'d) then news would travel faster and be much more efficient.  I myself would love to see this in this forum.

ABSOLUTELY!! a NEWS section - it\'s obvious that the news on the main.html is OLD news by the time it is posted. A NEWS section in these forums, with read-only priveleges for all except the developers and server site-managers.  Where we can be told if the server is down for a period of time, or that there is an update for the client.
 EXAMPLE:
( I just got an update to the updater AND .3.0.007 client which was 7 megabytes in size - windows-version, and still shows as 007 when i load it. But I got the oval bad-news window :

Server dropped us: (Invalid error message)

4 times within 5 minutes of \'joining\' the game.  Now the server won\'t even respond at all - it\'s been 3/4 of an hour or more, and it would only take 2 minutes to post a news bulletin in these forums to tell us that!

A section called like \"General and Official announcment\" (every forum has one btw I think) the sticky are not a really good place (I think most people look at them like normal post, \'cause there is so many... around 10 in bugs and 8 in general (I checked only these 2) And I m pretty sure most of sticky should be stick anymore (I guess).


A section were announcment will be made only for important information (like \"warning do not update, it\'s crashing\", or \"wipe done, beta version up!\" (:p) will be really easier for all user  :]

Edit: and maybe, an other idea if possible, changing those section:

suppr those 2 and make 3 section Bug with Windows, Mac, and Linux (3 sections, if it\'s easier for devs, maybe 1 use linux, one mac etc... so it\'s will be better for them I guess)


and an other one idea (the last one, I swear) (for now :p), to improve the utilisation of sticky posts... I think they should be maximum 2/3 sticky per section, \'cause if there is 8 sticky, noones care about them anymore... :/

(btw I would like to help in moderation in this forum, I already worked in game forum and know how its works, but I don\'t know to who send an application or anything, I tried to 1 or 2 person in mp, I get no response at all :\'( )
