Gamemasters et al., banning
« on: February 13, 2005, 09:47:46 pm »
Hi,

how many GMs are there, e.g. \"we have 50 reg\'d GMs\"?

How many of them are, or are supposed to be, online at the same time, e.g. \"four of them at any time\"?

Does the PS-team aim for a certain ratio, e.g. \"we aim for 1:200\"?

How is the precise process when a GM thinks someone is to be warned or banned, e.g.\"the GM warns him \'officially\', after three warnings the Player is contacted by Game-Devs, and then gets kicked.\"?
Everyone should make their own MMORPG

I think we have 12 GMs currently.

There\'s usually at least one GM1 or GM2 online, but at busy times of day there\'s four or five, including GM6 (myself).

I don\'t think there\'s any defined ratio.

GMs evaluate situations on a case-by-case basis. Warnings are given for certain actions, followed by a kick if those actions continue heedless of the warning. Serious actions such as racial abuse and other such abuse/harassment do not typically get warnings as there is no need for one; action is taken immediately.

We operate according to GM codes of conduct (which is currently not public information) and observe/enforce the Naming Policy (which IS public information) as part of that.

Naming Policy?

Hi, I tried to create a guild with the name \"The Dominion\" and about 2 hours later was asked to change it to something not related to a certain sci-fi show. This is fine, she was kind about it, and I changed the name.

Few things though, first, where is this Naming Policy?

Second, I had an alliance (before changing the name) using the name \"Dominion - Klyros Kingdom Council\" and can\'t seem to change the name of this alliance, do I have to re-form it?

Third, I hate to be stingy, but I am not the only person I have noticed to have used a name borrowed from something else, how often do people get asked to change the name? Well, thins will all make sense when I read the naming policy I\'m sure.

Thanks, the game is excellent by the way, can\'t wait for steel blue...

If we spot someone with a name that goes against the naming policy, we\'ll ask them to change it. We can\'t be everywhere at once, nor do we immediately spot everyone as soon as they log in just because you\'ve seen them yourself. :P

We did have the naming policy stickied in the forums, but it was outdated and taken down untill a new one can be written up. For now, people are asked to trust that GMs are telling the truth.
