Deteriation
« on: March 02, 2005, 08:06:17 am »
I think it could generate more interest in jobs if the buildings in PlanShift would deterorate.  Players with skills in building are repair could earn mony by fixing these buildings.  This could also reclaim space for new buildings to be built if the ability to build ones own home is introduced.  That would be a controlled way to keep buildings erected by players who decide they are tired of playing from taking up space that other players would like to build on.

Just a thought on something far into the future of the game.

Um.

1) Nobody aside from NPCs even own the buildings yet.

2) In the real world, buildings don\'t just fall apart that quickly.  There are still buildings that are as old as civilization just hanging around.

3) Or they can just get knocked down if the owner doesn\'t show up for a long period of time.

Well, buildings will be in the final release (in other words, year 201x).

Second it seams like a good idea, the old buildings are only standing because someone paid for the repair when needed.

Besides it would only help to make PS more realistic.

How long did the various tombs in the Valley of Kings last aside from being vandalized?

Houses don\'t just fall apart constantly.  They get damaged, sure, and they can get termites and rot, but that requires shoddy construction and certain conditions, none of which are gauranteed.

So, you build a house for someone, make it look good, jip on supplies, then overcharge to repair when it falls apart (You might wanna actually do a good job the second time...).  The ultimate builder\'s scam.
