Fink is a project put together to bring a lot of open-source software to Mac OS X / Darwin.  It allows you to select the software you want, then automatically downloads, compiles, and installs it.  It is probably not the most user friendly software in the world, and should soon not be necessary to run the PS Client.  It is, however, how I get the libraries that end up bundled inside Planeshift.

Near the start of the thread theres some brief info on how to get the lib file.
Heres some more detailed instructions if you\'re having issues or don\'t quite get it:

Heres the Fink Download Page.
http://fink.sourceforge.net/download/index.php?phpLang=en

Click the link Fink for your version of OSX.
Click a link for a download source, usually the location closest to you.
You may have to click the download link manually to start the download.
Mount Disk Image.
Run Installer package.

Copy FinkCommander folder to your Hard Drive if you wish.
Go into the FinkCommander Folder.
Run FinkCommander.
In the search box (upper right) type in:  libvorbis0-shlibs
Hit Enter/Return Key

You should see an entry appear in the list box below
Select the entry by clicking it.
Click the icon on the left (with the blue Plus)
It\'ll probably ask for your password.
Probably twice.
It may also ask for a response, which you can select the default option. (just select next, I think)
If all go well, thats it.

Try this:

Go into your Applications Folder on your Hard Drive
Then go into Utilities
Run Terminal

At the prompt run this command:

sudo apt-get install libvorbis0-shlibs

type your password and see if that works.

Here\'s my specific problem:

- PlaneShift Version you are using: PlaneShift_CBV0.3.002
- OS mac OSX (10.3.6)
- Computer type: ibook G3; 800 mhz; 128 MB
- Video Card model N/A
- Character Name: Have not made one yet... kicked off before i can create
- Details on the problem:

well as i stated above, Planeshift kicks me off before i can create a character. After i log into my account (e-mail address and password) and choose my server, i come to the screen where it says create new character at the top-left hand region of the screen. A few seconds after i get there, my mouse (in game) wont move and a few seconds later it kicks me off and the submit bug report to Apple screen pops up.

#1. Please don\'t resurrect a 3-month old thread.
#2. Use this: A Guide to Running Planeshift on Mac OS X
#3. It won\'t work now, cause the latest version has not been compiled for OS X yet.

Can we please get the guide stickied? Either here and/or on the CB Bugs forum?
