Yeah, the link is dead for the time being, as the client doesn\'t work anyway. We just need to wait for dfryer (the mac guru) to write the new client for 3.008, shouldn\'t be too much longer I hope...

Sorry I haven\'t been keeping up recently!  Most of my time is going to school, so CS hasn\'t been fixed to compile on my mac, and so Planeshift don\'t work either.  This weekend might provide some opportunity for me to get caught up, but don\'t get too hopeful.

If anyone out there has the inclination they can try compiling CS under 10.3 to see if the problem has been fixed between OS versions (the heart of it is that wint_t seems to not be defined under 10.2)

Thanks!

Download Planshift - any way to speed it up
« Reply #6 on: April 19, 2005, 06:19:45 pm »
I have a Mac 0S X 800 Mhz PowerPC G4  768 MB SDRAM with
version 10.3.8

When I went to download the new version it said that it would take
17-18 hours.     Has Apple any intention of developing an equivalent
to DSL?    I purchase an English mac journal which had version 5 of
Planeshift.   I hope they come out with version 9 on it.

Somedays I am tempted t o buy a PC for games.

Uhh, dude, Internet connection types are not platform dependant.  Wether its Dial-up, DSL, Cable, T1/3, or fiber optic lines, it can be used on Mac, Linux, and Winbloze. These aren\'t software products.  They are hardware infrastructure.

Well, it is nice to learn that DSL is not platform dependent.   My internet Provider tried to sell me DSL and when I said I had a Mac they said sorry but DSL was only for PCs.    So what you are telling me is they were
wrong.       I will raise the issue again with them.

What i found out was that my then ISP could not provide DSL in my town because my phone company would not allow them since the  phone company provided DSL service.  Also my then ISP had the speed up service but only for a PC.    I have since changed my ISP server to the pnone company to get DSL mainly.

The real reason is that they don\'t know how to configure ur Mac. Its very easy and u could probably do it your self. Just ask them to give you the DNS servers addresses  and your user name and password.
