What do you think?

Edit: Great, a typo in the title. Can a moderator fix that? Thanks.

Um....no offense, but that article really needs to be Wikified.  It doesn\'t link to anything, unlike this post.  Take a look at the PlaneShift Wikipedia article to see what I mean.

Also, that was copied and pasted directly from the PlaneShift history page.  That is not your intellectual property.  A disclaimer saying that it is from PlaneShift.it is not enough.
Your article could very easily be added as a subsection of the main PlaneShift article.

I think only people who can spell should write Wikipedia articles.

Hehe, sorry. :) But the typos arn\'t only in this thread title, they\'re actually in the small parts of what he wrote in the article aswell. My point was, that people use Wikipedia as a sort of encyclopedia, so someone should be using their best spelling and grammar to ensure people are learning about Yliakum, not \"yulakum\".

Quite right, but at risk of going off topic, there\'s a group of Wikipedians who devote most of their time to correcting the spelling and grammar mistakes of others.  Many of these articles with spelling errors have only one or two in the entire thing, but on occasion there will be several per paragraph.

The collaborative nature of Wiki is what makes it so great, so even if there are those who lack the ability to express themselves properly using written English, they can still contribute their ideas and insights to an article as long as they ask someone to proofread it.

The person responsible for the article doesn\'t have a Wikipedia account, and is [relatively] new to the forums so I\'m giving them the benefit of the doubt that they simply didn\'t know any better.

There\'s such a growing sense of elitism amongst older Wiki members that it kind of saddens me to see that kind of attitude.  Maybe I\'m too optimistic.  /me shrugs.

In any event, would it be okay if I deleted that article and merged some of its information into the main PlaneShift article? (this goes to everyone, not just Moogie or sesmi)

~Indi

edit: I cleaned up the article a bit and reworded some of it (even though it\'s the official history some of the sentences were a little funky).  It either needs to be merged with the main Planeshift article or modified to the point where it isn\'t simply a copy+paste of the official history and added to the category \"Planeshift\".

Oops i started to edit the article just now...but someone seemed to be doing the same. Oh well. It did need a lot of work. A wiki article that does not connect to any other wiki articles is pretty useless.

EDIT after the reply below:

Didn\'t mean to sound offeneded/offensive. I know your meant well ;)

We know you didn\'t mean any harm, but you know what they say about good intentions...er, actually I forget the exact saying, but you get the idea.

I pretty much left the whole of the text intact since it\'s what it says on history page verbatim.  There were some grammatical errors (one of which Kaseijin corrected, I assume).  For future reference, please know that just because anyone can write in Wikipedia does not mean that anyone should write in Wikipedia any way they please.

There are standards.  Without standards, Wikipedia would not be as well-respected as it is, now would it?

Read the Wikipedia Tutorial before creating any new articles in the future.  Start out small by editting minor things on articles that have already been written.

Oh, goodness.  This appears to have gone entirely off-topic now.  Moogie, could you please move this thread to the Hydlaa Plaza?   (or any moderator for that matter)  Unless, of course, it isn\'t actually off-topic.  Or something.

It was a good initiative though, it\'s nice to see people doing things like this. Thanks, sesmi. :)
