Wipeout and newbies
« on: April 30, 2005, 11:35:51 pm »
I started playing in the last week, and have put quite a bit of work into learning the game, getting resources and otherwise geting started...
Am I wasting my time doing anything \"productive\" (like getting attached to a character) until this wipe at an unknown date?

Just test the game for now, figure out what you want to play and whenever the wipe finally occurs (unknown date), you know what you want.

I agree. It\'s good to plan ahead anyway rather than just come up with something on the spot only to realise it\'s not what you want to do in the long run. This wipe, in my mind, sort of helps us out in the respect.

I was just caught off guard when I finally found out about it (after spending a week trying to build up a character).  There\'s nothing about it on the main page to the site and I was buisy learning the game not sifting forums, so I had no idea that the details of this wipe were going to be so devastating.

There\'s a notice in the Server MOTD when your loading. You can\'t miss it :)

actually, I usually go do something else during those load screens... so it was easy to miss.  silly me.
that is, however, where I finally saw it- just took me a while to figure out that \"wipe\" meant \"all of it.\"
