Updater annoyance (not the blackness....)
« on: May 19, 2005, 02:29:18 am »
I\'m behind a proxy, so my updater\'s config file has the proxy info in it.  (no big deal)  However, whenever I run the updater it overwrites the settings file.  (it resets my proxied server info too)  This is mildly irritating, because it makes me have to keep typing the stuff back in.  I update frequently, especially for a pre-alpha...  If anyone can fix this, I\'ll be quite thankful.

I think this effect was causing some of other idiocies during the updating process as well...

EDIT:
The newest version of the updater doesn\'t reset it\'s config file anymore.  (it\'ll do it on installing the new version, but once its working correctly it keeps its settings)  The server info is still reset though.  Oh well, just a minor annoyance now...

If it actually updated ~80 MB, then you already have the new update. It is likely that the update has been on the server long before it has been announced, as the updating would have had to be tested as well. :)
So everything should be fine with your version.

Seytra is correct.  The updated files for the Windows client were on the server a little over 24 hours before the announcement, but the developers wanted to be on the safe side and test the update thoroughly first.

Your version should be fine.  Try running the game and if you still have problems relating to the update, post them in detail here.

If you make a file readonly in Windows, the updater won\'t try to update it

Did you read any of the posts in this thread?  It\'s not even about the blackness...  There are other threads for that.  Go here.
