For how much can I sell this on eBay?
« on: June 23, 2005, 06:51:36 pm »
I\'m planing on selling the main part of my system (MoBo, CPU, GPU, RAM) and with that money (and the money that I have saved up) buying a new Athlon/PCI-e based system.

Here are the specs:

Mobo:

Asus P4S533-X

Socket Type: Socket 478
AGP:   1 x AGP (1x, 2x, 4x)
PCI:   6 x PCI
RAM Slots:   2 SDR DIMM, 2 DDR DIMM
Form Factor:   ATX
Size:   240 mm x 300 mm
Chipset:  SiS645DX

Extra Features:  Fast-Write, Side Band Addressing, JumperFree(?).

RAM

Total: 512MB

DIMM1: 256MB PC2100 (2.0-2-2-5)
DIMM2: 256MB PC2700 (2.5-3-3-7)

CPU

Type:  Intel Pentium 4, x86 architecture.
Clock: 2.4Ghz
L2 Cache: 512kb
Transistors:   55 million
Size: 0.13um

GPU

Type: MSI RX9800XT
Memory Size:   128 MB
Clock: 378Mhz
RAMDAC Clock(?):   400 MHz
Pixel Pipelines:   8
Vertex Shader: V2.0
Pixel Shader: V2.0
Bandwidth:   21.1 GB/s

++++++++++++++++++++++++

So? How much do you think I could sell this for on eBay?

If you want more info, ask.

I\'m in the US, so I\'ll be selling in dolars.

From another forum I was advised that ~$400 would be a decent price. I guess I\'ll start a bidding at around $375, see where that gets me.

$20 will earn you a kick in the throat, and a complimentary bums rush.

Well, there are loads of people who would buy out of date computers! Just look around eBay.

It\'s quite a good computer, the problem is that you probably get it brand new for about *grumbles something about francs* 600EUR, that\'s about $600 I think, so $400 would be cheap if it\'s in good health, expansive if it\'s not :)

400 - 500$ max. Though, don\'t get it lower than 400, doesn\'t worth giving it away so easily, the cpu is relative decent, same goes for the graphic card, that still costs around 150 - 200$.

Uhh, I just found a guy selling his Hercules 9800XT, with 200 euro. That means around 240$.

The memories, I think 30$ for each is a good price to start from.

As for the mainboard and the cpu, 100, max 120$ for both.

 Make the math.

 ;)

As for the time you\'ll \"change\" your pc, let me know, to give you some tips for the graphic card, and if you need, mainly for everything.

 Good Luck!

 :)

I decided to look at sites and try to rebuild my system to see how much it would cost.

Using http://www.pricewatch.com I was able to throw it together in 5 minutes wasting $300.

But Bestbuy.com and compusa.com both wanted around $600 (bring down to $500, seeing as their system was slightly better) for something like this.

So if I can find a shoper that doesn\'t know the benefits of using sites like newegg.com and pricewatch.com, I could easily sell for $400.
