Turn of sound?

I have planeshift, updated bla bla bla and as the world loads the program quits. I\'v researched it and know it\'s my sound, how do I turn it off when I can\'t even get into the game?

Also sometimes just before I get in it says server not running or reachable. ANY SOLUTION?

Could you post and/or send a console log? See the sticky at the top if you are unsure how to do this.
