This is not about newbie training.
Newbie training is good and should be implemented.
But this is different.
Think about this: how many people get dropped to a crowded plaza without any clue where they are, no equipment and many.
I guess such thing is quite unusual.
Most people come to a city with clothes, some equipment they used in their former job (you even choose what it was when creating character backround). Most people also do have some money.
Also they come to a place with some purpose in mind. They should know a person or two in the town. If they did not, they would probably go elsewhere. And even if they were not to the town yet they probably at least heared about someone that is of some interest to their profession or is generally well known (such as the head priest of the temple).
This could be written in the quest log since it is already implemented or in another suitable place.
