Backing up PS options
« on: August 07, 2005, 06:05:21 pm »
What files do I need to back up, to preserve the changes I\'ve made to options, before trying to reinstall PS?

The reason being, I posted elsewhere, that since the update I can no longer select \"Load all maps\" or the new \"Keep maps loaded\" in PS setup. It was suggested I edit \"psclient.cfg\" by changing the relevant options from false to true. This works for \"Keep maps loaded\", but not for \"Load all maps\" which gives me the \"mgbhelp.dll missing\" error.  I tried deleting the file then ran update to renew it, but this didn\'t help.

Thanks.

The broken pssetup options are bugs.  I fixed them myself, and it should be working when they update next.  The \"mgbhelp.dll missing\" one, though, I haven\'t heard yet.  Not sure about that one.

If you still want to know what to keep, heres a list:
logs folder
screenshots folder
data\\gui folder

set all the other options by pssetup, when it\'s fixed

With the options files in data\\gui, you might just want to keep the shortcuts list if you\'re having odd problems.

Though, with PS, full reinstalls aren\'t that useful.  You can delete any file, and the updater will re-get it.  So, a good way to \"reinstall\" is to delete the entire folder you think is messed up (less the options files above) and run the updater.
