Duh, Duhhhh, Duhhhhhhhhh
« on: November 23, 2005, 04:11:54 am »
Is it just me or does that little ditty after nyou kill a monstre annoy the crap out fo you? I mean you hear it over and over again duh, duuhhh, duuuhhhhhhhh. I\'m not just going to complain though, I will offer a simple solution.

Perhaps monster noises, like groans or growls when they die. Im sure this might be under way but I think it would be nice if at least the romval of the annoying jingle took place now.

Kill two monsters before 10 second passes after the first, the music goes so fast and loud...Now THATS annoying.

Plus, how did you get that music to work, anyway?

Music works for me fine as well - always has with OpenAL

As for the music - how bout a variety of sounds - and some based on the degree of the foe - this is simplist in description - but I don\'t have time to explain it all - it might grow better in someone elses emagination anyways.

Just before this update came out, I made sure that the victory sound turns off when you turn off the sound settings- I might have put it under the wrong one, but it should work :)

Feel free to list which sounds aren\'t turning off to the right settings.

Now, on topic GeorgeD is adding a bit of sounds here and there. I am not sure of the staus of general groans moans and other horror soundeffects. But it is certainly planed for.

The idea is that after a long, hard battle, you hear the music.  After an epic battle, I think it would be appropriate.  But hearing it for killing a rat in one hit?  No.

To use openAL you must have the openal libraries installed - if in linux debian its as simple as  apt-get install libopenal0  its possible in windows as well but trickier.

What you just said is tricky enough...I guess I\'ll just wait for them to get the software sound back together...

For a newbie, a rat is a huge thirteen-headed black dragon spitting fire tornados !

I agree with your remark, but it must be related with few parameters.
 - comparison of the level of the player and the fiend
 - length of the battle
 - remaining HP at the end of the battle
 - perhaps also, the number of beasts of the same specie killed before
 - etc.

The length of the battle should be the only parameter needed if you ask me. If you spend 5 minutes fighting something I\'m sure you can classify it as an epic battle, whether you\'re a newbie taking on a rat or a demi-god taking on 50 ulbers. If the battle takes long enough play the sound ... if it\'s over in a few hits, don\'t. Simple as that.
