Planeshift Control Pad
« on: November 15, 2005, 09:02:10 pm »
I\'ve been thinking, a lot of games are able to be played with a Control Pad, yet, Planeshift uses arrow keys, space bar, shift key, etc.

Since neuro interface is impossible at the moment, [and very expensive...I don\'t even know if neuro interface gloves exist yet] I think Planeshift should be compatible with a Control Pad.

I get bored using the old default controls with the keyboard, I want to sit back in my chair and just use the controller sometimes [still use the keyboard to type messages, and the mouse to click icons, but basic movement come with a choice of keyboard or control pad.]

I have configured my Nostromo gamepad for use with PS a bit.  I only set it up enough to know that it works, but I prefer the keyboard myself.

I suppose PS does not support the gamepad, per say, but the gamepad I have can be programmed to have an action on it duplicate a keypress...

Hmm...Tell me, what did you do exactly to configure it?

There is some software that came with my controller that allows you to assign single keys or a macro of sorts to any button:

The reason that most MMORPGs don\'t work nicely with gamepads is because there\'s simply too many functions to fit on the pad :P

Also it\'s a pain to switch back and forth whenever you want to type

Although I only tried it for a few minutes and a few commands, I suppose one could walk or run with the D-Pad and/or the sticks and have most of his shortcuts and whatnot on the gamepad\'s dozen buttons.  (I suppose multiple commands to each button)

/me wonders if voice recognition software could work with PS...
