Can't get past Race & name creation

I have the same problem, but with Linux (Ubuntu Breezy) and Windows (XP SP2). I updated both several times, but nothing happened :/

same problem here, xp sp2, clicking next or paths doesn\'t do anything except make a noise and nothing happens.  if i manually enter a name and click them i get the message warning about naming rules. but nothing else happens after i click next again.

i don\'t know if you are supposed to be able to change hair color, skin color, etc. but none of them worked for any of the characters. i also tried to update several times, all it says is that my files are up to date.

Appearance variations are currently available only for the Dermorian and Ynnwn faces.

I\'ve read the thread and the problem is the same. In character creation once the char is selected, race and name, it..just clicks on path or next, no hair color change etc. No message, my nascent character just stands there looking at me!

Also on Win XP Sp2

SOLVED: I ran PS Updater in recover mode - and after a long run, the problem was solved. Now I\'m wandering about in town not knowing what to do - better read the player guide.

PS updater in recover mode didn\'t work for me...but i did notice that in PS Setup Application, if i go to skins button and click on the test button, nothing happens, could that be part of the problem?  and how could it be fixed?

ok, just tried again after my last post and it worked, but i also saw a message come up just before it went to the first loading screen, it said \"Warning: could not load plugin \'crystalspace.sndsys.manager\'\" what is that? i got a character by hitting paths and fighter then upload, but just as it was finishing the loading screen, i got another error, no idea what it was because PS stopped responding and i couldn\'t see what it was.

Try turning sound off with Planeshift Setup.

Start-All Programs-Planeshift-Planeshift Setup
then launch the game, it will work, eventually.
