pb G4
Mac OSX 10.4.3
run the updater.jar (all file option), firewall off (or on with 7777 open), server up (15 users), ping ok (64 bytes from 203.81.44.229: icmp_seq=0 ttl=48 time=387.739 ms)

Please check the guide again. I\'ve made a modification (see the 3rd step of the second \"IMPORTANT\" part after the Manual Update Guide). Hopefully this should solve your problem. :)

My server.xml reads:

Is this the correct phrasing?

Yup, that should be it, I think.

I\'m not sure if this is the same problem or not, but I cannot connect to the server either. I plowed through this thread and all the similar threads I could find and read the guide.

Firewall is off.

Server is up.

PM G5

Mac OSX 10.4

I did not run the Updater.jar or Updater-old.jar

Downloaded the Mirror #1.

Mirror #1 is slow and out of date. Use 2 or 3 (fast) or 4 (slow).

Another hour and a half of downloading. Thanks though.

Edit: Well scratch that, this one\'s gonna take me ten minutes.

Alas another edit. As I still cannot connect.

Editing once more, I can connect now, but it says:

\'You are not running the correct version of planeshift for this server\'

And I\'m ready to kill.

You sure you didn\'t get mirror 1? That\'s where the bad files are. Try updating with the Java Updater from scratch (i.e. delete everything except updaterconfig.xml and then run Updater.jar in your Planeshift folder).

There are a number of reasons why I don\'t think it\'s mirror one.

1. The first time I downloaded mirror #1 it took an hour and a half. This one took 12 minutes.

2. I had to change the network in the new one I downloaded. I had already done that with my previous download.

3. I could connect to the internet.

These could be stupid reasonings, created from blind hope, but meh. Anyway, to further matters, the the Updater.jar is not working. This seems like such a wonderful game too.

Edit - Oh yeah, and I remember reading somewhere in a thread I was browsing looking for a solution to my problems with the game, something about needing administrator(?) priveliges for something. Just wondering what that was. Oh yeah, I checked, and apparently I have PS version 0.3.011... if that makes a difference. Sorry if it\'s obscure information.

Yes you do need to be the administrator of your computer. If you\'re the only user, you likely are. Second, did you follow the details in the Guide on using Updater.jar?

P.S. You probably are using Mirror 1. I just wanted to make sure.

Ah, I didn\'t see the Java guide when I read it. (Either that or you\'ve just now added it) Ok, and about the mirror 1 buisness, is there any way to definately tell witch mirror I\'m using? Or am I doomed to eternal downloadings?

If you use the Java updater it tells you. And that part of the guide has been there for a while. ;)
