CRASES ON LOAD!!!
« on: December 11, 2005, 05:38:09 am »
Whenever I load into the game it crashes and says \"exception access violation.\" This has never happened before, and my computer has not changed at all. It started graduallly, first it happened infrequently, and now as soon as I log on it crashes. What do I do? it may be a bug, my character is just inside the arena. Before now the game has worked without problem, what has happeded?

Make sure you have run the updater recently, first of all. Try again right now, in recover mode. And then make sure that you have sound disable, and are using the stone skin. Can you post the number that you get along with the access violation?

The access violation is 7C00724A. I updated and it still crashed :(. Also when I was updating after it finished I clicked update again and it started downloading the same files that it had already downloaded. Is is supposed to do that??? Im assuming the stone thing is some sort of spell, I don\'t know any yet though.

Ahhh, 7C00724A, is a well known crash, it\'s caused by the background sound. Turn that off in setup and it should work.

I understand this is a background sound fault.  But the system is crashing before I have the ability to turn the sound off!

You say you can turn the sound off in set-up? where?

thanks

Run the  PS setup application separately. If you\'re on Windows, it can be accessed through Start -> Programs -> PlaneShift Crystal Blue -> PlaneShift Setup.  Under sound options, the very last option is \"Off\" :)

How much memory do you have? Even if it was running perfectly before, low memory could be the reason behind these crashes. If you have less than 512 MB RAM, it might be the case.
