Skills development
« on: February 15, 2006, 10:01:39 pm »
I have some questions on skill development.
The manual says that Physical development helps the hitpoints and such.

I started with 0 pysical development, trained it up as much as game would allow, but it is not going up to 1--what does a person hav to do to get this skill to advance?  (it has been all green for 3 days.)

Are all 0 starting skills stuck at 0 since when they are 0 you can\'t use them?

Is this a bug?

Or is there a gym in some distant village that we must go lift weights at?

My stats advance 1 every time I green them up--what\'s up with the skills?

Not all stats/skills are implemented at the moment :) The list of those that are can be found in the stickied \"Getting Started In-Game\" thread in the Newbie Help section. Thus you can train some skills if you find a trainer for them, but can\'t practice them - and thus can\'t level up.

Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

This is a copy from the thread mentioned above:

Quote:
 Stats:
All

Combat Skills:
Sword
Knives & Daggers
Axe
Light Armor
Melee

Magic Skills:
All but Anti-Magic

Job Skills:
Mining
(Crafting will be implemented soon)

Various Skills:
Lockpicking

However, I read a recent post from Talad stating that shields had been activated, and so has med & heavy armor.

So does this list need updating, or are shields, med & heavy armor activated but not improvable?

No one I\'ve asked knows for sure if these are indeed implemented - Xordan hasn\'t heard anything about them, for example.

Um. Except noXide, who gave a definite \'No.\' ;)

I think: the new damage calculation system allows for shields to be bought into play easier
<Rux> i wish i could say that narrows it down, but the internet is one freaky place

It seems that if the skills are not implemented, then the skill level in the combat calculations would be 0, which would mean carrying a shield (regardless of what skill level you show for it) it would be a hinderance to your combat.  The same with med & heavy armor.

0 skill in this case would = great hinderance to agility and combat calculations.  [Monster knocks shield from character hands and eats it.  Character is very scared, but cannot get away since he/she does not know how to walk in armor.  Monster slowly sucks character\'s flesh out through his visor.]
