Ruby madness....
« on: February 04, 2006, 08:37:59 am »
Just a question,

Are rubies supposed to be this common?  With people having collections that run into the hundreds and thousands?

The whole ruby thing is ridiculous if you ask me. I guess its supposed to waken some kind of warm, fuzzy memories of molecular blue, but as you say they arent difficult at all to find. They spawn in the same places over and over again after about 20 second increments. So I simply ignore them now.

Especially since due to a bug, they were accumulating to a spot so I was able to pick up 150 and 250 at a time a couple days ago. :|

So I have around 2,000 of these things.  I\'d give them away, but they aren\'t worth anything as gifts!

Sometimes I surprise myself... :D

This time, I agree with zanzibar - because: Due to the incredible amount of useless rubies, the item spawner appears to be overstressed, therefore the spawning of useful items (like apples, mushrooms, and breads) had to be disabled!

Do you developers try to enjoy your players this way?!

LigH remember why they came about in the first place. They were a christmas present from Talad. It was a nice gesture.

I agree these rubies really have no use YET. I am sure they have something planned for them in the future. If not then I agree and think that they are usless and maybe should be taken away till they are of some use.

I did not forget. They were a christmas present - many thanks. What would the \"Ruby Reign\" be without the ruby rain?

But - christmas is over. The ruby rain shall wear off gradually. And usefull items shall spawn again.

Back in the previous build, placing them on unusual places was fun.  Spelling out words with them were fun.  Having parties and decorating the area with them were fun.  Along with the emeralds and diamonds.  But those days are long gone.  Still, you can find things to do with them.

Make up a Roleplay story in-game that explains why they have reappeared.  Perhaps some ancient power has awoken and the rubies must be collected...to be combined and put the ancient evil power back to sleep?

The possibilities are endless.  Since this is a Roleplaying game, time to practice your roleplaing skills! -)

I do not mind remaining a few rubies.

But I hate losing all apples and mushrooms to them!

I just say: There are way too many rubies, and that limited item spawner is no longer able to create useful items, because useless items are favoured.

Ah, the joys of elitist nostalgia...

If people don\'t do those things anymore, then they couldn\'t have been that fun in the first place.

Not quite - such activities are simply forbidden now.
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.
