server crashes
« on: January 29, 2006, 10:05:39 pm »
Hi, let\'s see if I\'m lucky that you can help me.

I\'ve been trying to play Planeshift for the first time for almost a week.

What happens follows:
- I run the client - OK
- I log in - OK
- I start crating my charachter - OK
- The server soon crashes (or at least I get the message that it is down) - AAARGH!

I always get this message:

\"SERVER NO LONGER RESPONDING, IT HAS MOST LIKELY CRASHED. AUTOMATIC SERVER RESTARTS IN 5 MINUTES\"

So I wait 5 min and try again, just to see it crash again. This happened about 8 times, less than a minute after logging, so I have not been able to even create my character.

I have checked and there is no firewall blocking port 7777.
I have also updated the Java.

Any ideas on how to solve this trouble other than those included in the first thread by Chaos?

Thanks A LOT.
Ed

oops, sorry!

I just read the reply to the other thread saying the server is under maintenance.

It must have been posted while I was writing here... duh.

Server is acting like this for about 2 hours or more. Just after few server crashes in row site admin posted there, that they have to solve some problem which is causing server downs and that they are turning server down.

Lets wait,

I did a search to find this.  I\'m having the exact same problem.  I am going through the process to create a character and I get dumped by the server half way though.  Revision 13 software has just been released so maybe there\'s a problem with it and server stability?

Editing:  I run Windows and not a Mac but same problem.

A mac client isn\'t yet available for version .013, so logging in won\'t be an option at all for the moment :/ Cha0s will have things out ASAP, though. As for the server itself, indeed - after an update (especially a large one such as this) new bugs manifest themselves along with new content. There are several things to be investigated already, and the team is working on it all. Hang in there :)

Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.
