Something unexpected happened!

I tried running the game twice and it came up with a box that says:


\"Something unexpected happened:
EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION at 0041AC3B\"

I tried searching the forum for this, but nothing could help.  Sorry if this has already been covered!  I have windows just in case you need to know that.

I just downloaded this game today, if that makes a difference...

First off, please read the stickies.  Specifically this one.

Secondly, please post some actual information, and stop creating a bunch of new threads.

Thirdly, you need to run the updater.  If you just downloaded 0.3.012, you should probably just download the new version (0.3.013) instead of bothering with the updater patch.

I got this same problem. PlaneShift worked before the update, then I ran the updater. I have turned off sound. I ran the PlaneShift Tech Demo thing and it was halfway finished loading the sewer and a message popped up that said \"something unexpected happened: EXCEPTION_ILLEGAL_ACCESS at 0041AC3B\" Then it said \"This program has performed an illegal operation and must now close.\" Then it said \"something unexpected happened: EXCEPTION_ILLEGAL_ACCESS at BFF9DFFF\" Then it displayed the illegal operation thing again then it died. what\'s up, and how do I fix it?

Read the upgrading sticky, follow the instructions.  That\'s it.

The crash has already been solved in CVS.
At the moment I suggest to play with sound on and then fix the options in order to not hear any sound.

The crash happens just when you minimize your window or you lose focus and you have sound off.
