Oh, and to add to what karyuu said...

Symmetry!

When you draw a head at a straight on angle, a helmet, a shield, a sword, make sure it is balanced. Of course, this is only for swords such as Broad Swords and Claymores, because some arent symmetrical anyways, but try to keep it all even. Also, look up references whenever you draw.

sat down just now and drew that. i know it\'s not very symetrical *looks embarrased*, but i was just trying to get some more detail in a face. i will post back (probably) later with another picture trying to follow your advice dragonfire and karyuu.
