nothing works
« on: March 02, 2006, 07:59:14 pm »
I downloaded ver.0.3.013 tried running the updater, but that didnt work it just came up with the general windows \"an error has occured\" window, neither the client or anything works, i also tried the updateer patch but that didnt make a difference, and as the subject suggests nothing else works either, eg the setup, etc...
i would include the dump file from the client but om not sure how to upload it, all help would be appreciated

We\'d love to help you, but there\'s nothing to go on here.  Please read the stickies, and post back here with some information.  We\'re not psychic.

When you say downloaded, do you mean the complete installer via the bittorrent?

If so, you shouldn\'t have needed to run the updater (i assume).

You assume wrong.

Btw, there\'s nothing here to indicate these two crashes are the same.

I also have this general error when the world is loading, planeshift was working fine a few days ago, I tried running it and I got a different error, got the zip file from the forums for the newer updater prog, ran the updater and tried the program, and got the error when the world was loading. I tried running the updater again, and it tried to repair \"libmng-cs.dll\", re ran planeshift and got the error again, re ran the updater it tried to update the same file but this time said it failed to update the file. I am using a laptop
1.4ghz pentium processor
512mb ram
ati mobility radeon 9600 pro turbo graphics card
running the game from an external hard drive via usb 2.0
I hope that I have given enough info to help, if not just ask for more.

Nothing you need to apologize for.  Just run the updater.  :P

phischphood:  Try dumping in the new update files as outlined in the updating sticky.

SLAYER2:  You have an AMD or otherwise non-SSE chip.  In the main sticky, it says under the part about these lovely little numbers to try searching the forum for it.  Only 6 come up.  Read this one:
EXCEPTION_ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION: CPU feature dependend build?

Try the hotfixed executables, and wait for a real patch.
