This is off the main topic, but I must strongly recommend against wasting your time and money on an education degree--especially if you want to be a teacher.

Now, they offer teacher certification courses that take only 6 months, cost a few hundred, and come complete with teacher certification (fees included in cost). [at least in most states]

Anyone with a bachelor\'s in any field can do this--so get a 4 year in something else, then you can get better than a double by doing the above.

In response:

Suffice it to say, I\'ve given this a lot of thought, and there are reasons that i\'m doing things the way I am. At one point I did consider the certification, but due to the university i\'ll be returning to, there were complications on that score. Mostly due to the education dept. not allowing students outside the education program taking certain core courses that are required for the certificate. And no, I wouldn\'t go to a different university for the world ;)  I enjoy UNF, and I plan on taking up some music composition classes or independant studies again on the side. Need to further my music at any given chance ^_^

And for the record, I should have clarified, but I didn\'t expect a response on this subject. It\'s not a straight education major, it\'s education with a chemistry focus, so in the end i\'ll either teach, or work in a lab. I\'ve considered many options and this is the road that works best for me personally. And money is not an issue.  My parents pay the courses, and I help out by working part-time or full time depending on my schedule.  Although i\'m in the middle of job hunting right now...and it sucks heh :P

What right do you have to suggest such a thing?  I started the thread and I have no complaints about where it has travelled.

Er, sorry, I think that just came out wrong. It just seemed like nothing new was coming in on the music stuff is all. And now it\'s diverged into my schooling somehow lol. If you don\'t have any complaints on the direction, then it\'s all good, and I\'ll retract that line from the previous post.
