[RP] NIght of a Thousand Words
« on: May 13, 2006, 03:17:58 am »
Loto tacks the following message around Kada-el's Tavern

Night of a Thousand Words

On saturday nights, in the little sanctuary by the windowless tower, I will be hosting a celebration of musical arts. All poets, bards, minstrels and troubadours are encouraged to share their original work. Meet me at 8:00pm [EST] for the festivities.

Rules:
    All work has to be
original

We encourage creativity, but please keep vulgarities to a minimum

While someone is performing, please respect them and wait untill the end to have conversations with your friends

[If you do not know of where I speak...here is a picture...http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h225/Hazmats/shot21.jpg]

[This is my first attempt at an event so any help is greatly appreciated]

harlohim is hoping to have a poem ready for next week, but she's a little nervous and self-concious about it.

Well, last night's meeting was good. we had some great poems and songs that stirred emotion and provoked thought. Here are just a few:

"Evil ligers in the mist,
The strength of heroes tested.
A fight by sword and fist.
Who is next?

The face of stone is the source.
The mighty heroes gather
To face an evil force.
Who is next"
-Loto

"The speed I move is faster than any of you can run
A blade I have is pointed at your lung
You cannot breathe
You cannot comprehend
What light you have inside
Are my lips smeared with vile poison
Is that why people pretend I'm not there
Do they smile
Do they nod
In vain effot to get away
My life was an empty vase
But you filled it so it blooms
And now that my flowers are healthy
I hope they never wither"
-Harlohim

"Doors that now stand closed to all, shall be opened once more.
The great city, haven of Talad, will receive its lost people.
Ojaveda, my home... home to all Enkidukai... shall shine again in Yliakum."

[[being that my poet has been dead for the last five months, I have taken note of this. However...he is back. Be seeing you.]]

Untar walks up to Kada'el's and see the notes. The paper speaks to him. The stones under his feet call to him. The wind whispers in his ear. They all say the same.

"Yes," Untar says, a smile forming on his lips, "It is time to write."

*Loto walks up to the wall in Kada-El's with his previous posters. In his arm are several new ones.*

"Come to the Night of a Thousand Words" it says. "On Sunday (this week only) at 8:00pm [EST] at the Dungeon Exit Park. Bring your best material each night!"

Tonight's meeting was the best yet! Over 10 people came. The support from fellow citizens is great. There were many great poets tonight. Malfini, Kilaya, Einnol, Darkshade, Just to name a few, were quite good.

Misty darkness flows from the street,
A lowly call of silence hides my feet.
It makes me walk ever on,
It bides me to the path,
It bindes me to the path.
It's a path I walk on alone,
A path that deserves no less,
A silence that cannot bless,
But only bind our hearts, our ears.
Silence is the master of the street,
I am far its equal.
So I walk on my path,
My only way,
My silent way,
The way I've known since birth.
-Darkshade

A new day dawned...dreams shifting, disappearing, gone.
Sitting between walls, she yearns for light...
Her tears fall, her heart without sight.
Wandering through the ages
Her diary marked with wet, somber pages.
As she searches for worth, long past her mirth...
She knows not why it's so hard to say goodbye.
But she hears a voice, though the wail of the wind...
A hope, perhaps, that things would mend.
"Be still, I am near...your voice, I will hear."
And the light shown brightly...as she smiled.
-Nilaya

Remember, next week we shall resume saturday night shows.
