FC4 using .bin ( won't work )
« on: May 24, 2006, 05:12:57 pm »
I downloaded the .bin file using bittorrent and when I try to open it, I am told it is of filetype unknown but its contents suggest executeable. I am told to rename it to type executeable. How do I do this? What extention should I use?

You don't have to rename the file, just make it executable.

I'm not sure how it works in FC, because I guess you are running Gnome, but in KDE I can right-click on the file, select Properties and then set the "is executable" flag on the Permissions page.

Or you can open the console and enter "chmod a+x PlaneShift_CBV0.3.014b.bin".
