Can't access old character
« on: June 09, 2006, 02:11:37 am »
Gidday. I originally tried planeshift a year or so ago and had created a character (Boneyard). I thought I would try the new version. Now when I login to my account I don't see that character, but I cannot re-create the character with the same name. Any ideas?

*edit*

Ok, just read this post http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=14529.0 which could explain the lack of the character, but I still want to use my old name if possible...

The wipe has not happened yet. Unless you were in Molecular Blue version, of course. If you were not, then ask yourself these questions:

1) Did you have another account? If so, try logging into that one
2) By any chance, did anyone else have access to your account? If so, they may have deleted the character.
3) The planeshift team might have thought that "Boneyard" is an invalid name. Have you read th echaracter naming policy? Once they block a name, you may not be able to use it again.

Hope I helped.  :sweatdrop: :sorcerer:

Hiya!

Unfortunately "Boneyard" is not an appropriate name for use in PlaneShift, so you will have to choose another. Check the Player Policy link in my signature for further information :}
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

Ah I knew it... I used to hate this policy, since like every name I chose was invalid. But now, I only know that the PS team is only doing it's job, keeping PS as much of RP as possible. Keep up the good work!!! :detective: ;D

Ok, thanks for clearing that up. Shame about the name - was quite attached to it, but I am sure I can think of something else. Didn't realise it was offensive. However, it still doesn't explain what happened to my character. Ah well, a change is as good as a holiday  :D

I think we had a wipe around September of last year - around that time, anyway. That would most likely explain the disappearance of your character, if you haven't checked since then :}
