Server rejects my 3.015 client
« on: July 12, 2006, 01:38:03 am »
I have been running the 3.015 client for a week now but today when I launched the client I get "You are not running the correct version of Planeshift for this server."

Great! A new client update, but no.

Running updater I briefly see "Your updater is a newer version than the server's...".  A temporary file is always created on each update attempt in ./updatertemp/version.dat.  The version.dat contents are

Does anyone have a suggestion?

Being a Mac user on PlaneShift is like being a console gamer in Europe... WE GET EVERYTHING LAST! It's too bad the Mac is the only computer we have that can run PS reliably.

That was the case with the Update from PS 0.3.013 to PS 0.3.014 for the Mac OS X Client... but with the Update from PS 0.3.014 to PS 0.3.015 - it's the Linux Client players who have to wait for the Official release, although they can use an unofficial release that someone put together.
- running PlaneShift Mac OS X Tiger (10.4.11) Client, on an Apple iMac G5 2GHz PowerPC processor, 2GB DDR SDRAM, an ATI Radeon 9600 graphics card with 128MB VRAM, a 20-inch active-matrix LCD widescreen display, and a 250GB Serial ATA hard drive... so what's your excuse, huh?

Well I ran the updater as dfryer suggested and it worked even though I got a message saying it would not work.
However I got a picture that gave me repeating arrows and I could not do anything.  But  then I pushed tje arrow ahead and everything cleared up.     But my window was  rather small.   Also my inventory window decreased so I only had
the top half of what  I used to have.  So i exited PS.

then I met to check my pssetup and instead got pssetup.cfg which showed:

System.ApplicationID = pssetup

Video.ScreenWidth  = 600
Video.ScreenHeight = 400
Video.ScreenDepth  = 16

So I intend to change the settings to 1440, 900 and 32 respectively and see what happens.

I am going to check my pssetup too.

I made the changes.   At least  my pssetup window is bigger now.

When i got into PS, my window had increased in size.  Also my inventory window had increased so I had a cursor that allowed me to see my entire  inventory.   All my weapons, glyphs, etc.

 ;)

I ran the 1.1.1.1 version of the Updater that came with the 0.3.015 Mac OS X Client of PlaneShift about 2.5 hours ago and everything ran smoothly and now I'm in-game and all is running well, well so far anyway.

Many thanks as always to the PlaneShift Development Team and to dfryer for making 0.3.015b available for Mac OS X again!  \\o//
