Roleplaying Disagreements
« on: August 31, 2006, 08:08:30 am »
I'm just curious, if someone decides to Hold a Party at Kad el tavern, and a Gm asks them to Leave because he is holding sick people in that tavern.....

Who would hold precedent?

I mean Taverns arn't meant for sick people >o)  and have been used for parties for centuries.

So i could agree that a tavern is the place to host the party, and i would have the sick people escorted out for their own health, and because of the noise.

I also feel the tavern owner would love the Money \\o//, from the drinks and all, and he might personally decide to kick anyone out who would ruin his buisness.

My opinon would be, that the sick persons would leave, and the party would rage all night long.

Am i wrong?

I mean, which group holds the right to stay? The one with the money, the drinks, and the fun, or the sick people?

And would a Gm use his power to force the party out? :sweatdrop:

Some great questions here, and i'm just curious what the answers are. :detective:

What makes you think the sick people wouldn't like a party to cheer them up?

Does that mean the people role playing the sick people were acting unrealistically? Or, Am I just out to lunch? Were the health care workers applying leeches and letting blood? What kind of anaestesia were they using? Surely it was alcoholic this being medieval and all. I suppose it might have been some alchemical potion or other but I'd think most of them would have an alcoholic base even so.

Did the partiers not get sick from unpasteurised ale or wood alcohol? Certainly there was little quality control in medieval times. They might have had some fine vintage bottled by monks but they were more likely to have had runoff from the pig swill.

Have all ramifications of this event been considered?

Will I ever stop typing?

Only my hairdresser knows for sure.

For the timeframe of our Game, i would say the true Medicine was SOLACE, which was a salty sort of paste that was put on the wound.

Alcohol wasn't used because they had no clue that it would help heal the wound faster.

And no, in our times, people did not go to Taverns, to seek medical help.

That is basic knowledge.

If you needed medical help the last place to go was a tavern, you probably would go to some sort of doctor, or better yet, have them come to you.

A tavern is no place for sick people, and People who WERE not sick, would not go into the tavern, Thus the tavern owner would lose buisness.

first off a GM during RP isnt a GM any longer. I mean yes they still ahve the power but they arnt any higher than us during RP unless they choose to.

and second, its the choice of the owner if they wish to hold a party or house the sick.  And i dont think that a bunch of people will randomly walk into the bar and party without any notice.

well i'd guess the sickos would drink potions of healing. Or take infusions of life... And maybe it was there the sickness started so it was quarantined...

People should always RP disagreements that arise from RP conflicts. This means keeping the situation within RP, and not bringing it to an OOC discussion. No RP event takes priority over another, and conflicting parties should combine their situations, not ignore them or complain to GMs.

This thread is a continuation of two previously locked topics. There is nothing that can be discussed of it on the forum.

I see people aren't getting the point. The next thread that attempts to discuss this all over again instead of roleplaying the situation as they should will just be deleted with no further warnings.

Don't bring RP disagreements into OOC forum arguments. And moreover, don't break forum rules. If a moderator locked a thread, that discussion is over. If you want to disagree with a moderator, discuss it in PMs first. This is a rule. The next situation like this that arises in the game, share your opinion all you want with the involved people, in the game. If everyone made threads about every tiny bit of friction they experience with others...
