You have to redownload to go to the login place..? I'm afraid I am not understanding this :}
The server is going through a series of ups-and-downs at the moment, so if your server connection shows up as Failed, give it some time to come back. It can take a few minutes, or it might take closer to an hour.
In the meantime, you can look through the forums to get an idea of what the game is like - read some guidelines, rules, etc. :]
