Not having knowledge is one thing.  Having knowledge available and refusing to spend a little time looking up answers is another.  How many people do we see every day on these boards asking stupid questions that are already answered on the PS page or in FAQ\'s?  I haven\'t posted a lot here, but I\'ve been watching the boards for a while and there are a lot of newcomers who bypass the PS site completely, then want someone here to explain everything to them.  It gets redundant.  The newcomers around here who do their homework and know what they are talking about rarely get jumped on by anyone.

Ignorance is never a deffence. I was flamed as a noob and with good reason. I will flame anyone who doesn\'t take time to read the forums, or I will not reply at all. Maybe the noobs should be just ignored, and their posts should be left unanswered. Damn, forgott to take pills, split personality kicking back in.

I can totally understand people\'s reaction to some newcomers, when they turn up and post the same questions that have been asked from day one and that are answered all over the forums and on the web site.
I\'m afraid it can get extremely frustrating (and boring) for long term residents, some people are just a bit more vocal about it than others.

I think it was Kiern who pointed out that for those who have been here a long time, the slow pace of game development means there is very little left to discuss that we haven\'t already. So instead we turn on the new whenever they annoy with stuff we\'ve heard a thousand times before.

I guess the release of MB will spark some worthwhile forum discussion anyway and perhaps ease some tension and short fuses :D

....oh and how could I forget, MB will stop all those \'when is it going to be released?\' posts, wooo! (Temporarily anyway  )

I like that one saying...\"Ignorance is no excuse\" :D And as keldorn said, the fact that some of them diss the game that is still in developement degrades the newbies further. oh and heres another one while im at it...\"You dont get a second chance to make a first impression\".

Excuse my complete ignorance and my topic diversion, but I have read it so many times now that I finally have to ask...

Why suxxors and roxor and stuff like that? Someone explain it to me

I personally feel that good grammar and an extensive vocabulary is far more impressing than \"elite speak\"..

On the ignorance/lazy argument, being a newb I know that the shear amount of info on the forum is overwhelming. And newbs are typically very eager to jump into the community rather than taking the time (a long time at that) to go over all the information. I believe the newbs should do some reasearch, but sometimes its difficult finding out if someone has posted info about there topic already, especially since many of the posts are titled with names that are irrevelant to the subject. Im not defending the newbs, just providing a counter-argument.

The only advice to newbs I can give is read other newb posts and see the reations they get from people, you\'ll soon discover the type of material you shouldnt post and it doesnt take as long. Also you should read old posts anyway, since they all give some valuable information, and periodically you\'ll find what I deem a \"golden\" post which are posts that are either a infinite well of information or just absolutely hilarious.

I\'d like to see more people being a part of the community, but more so I would like to see intelligent people that know how to manage resources and make valuable arguments.

Gotta love the leet talk, those people always die fast in fps trying to type  :D . As for the newbies getting flamed, I think if your not sure that somethings already been posted even AFTER you\'ve run a search for it, dont post it. Or better, bring it up in another thread and see people\'s reaction to it. I think its a better way, and if people start responding to it, start a thread about it. Plus you get a more subtle \"Thats been discussed already\" instead of \"Its been posted, look stuff up before making new threads\" That way you wont draw huge attention to youself by starting a whole new thread thats already been made and getting flamed.

Well you can\'t break the arm of everyone so they read everything, the amount of posts here is large, and a year wouldn\'t be enough to read em all.

As an active member with alot of posts on other forums, I purposedly skip topics, because reding on a computer is difficult, and there are topics that not necessarily interests me.

As a newbie of planeshift, I took the time to read all the information on the website, and I also read the sticky topics put in the forums. If some people think that certain topics are relevant to the understanding of the game, then those topics should be put as stucky topics, because good stuff is hard to find in a pile of messed up thoughts..

I think that the minimum a person could do is read the info on the website.

Here is what I suggest, if u\'ve just arrived and have a question or an idea, just do a search to make sure it hasn\'t been discussed before. That\'s all we ask.
