i dont get it

just  a short thing really.

lately alot of topics around here get closed/lots of posts get deleted... it seems to be moreso than when moogie was the moderate-zor, i dont understand why.

i can make perfectly good posts, nothing wrong with them.. even use punctuation and everything, ill come back the next day and they'll be gone - no explination no nothing. why is this?

how is it that topics that i actually find decent such as this that actually amuse people get locked with in hours of them being made, when topics where alll people do is talk crap about cats (or stuff not to do with cats) go on for like years. there's reems of useless crap here that hasnt been locked or deleted..... whats with people getting rid of the good stuff?

I agree, especially with locking something and not even giving an explanation.  Vengence gave an explanation on the islamphobia thread, and thats what you should do, give an explanation...not just lock something with no warning and no explanation, gets people irate...

I've also noticed that there have been so many new moderators coming around lately. Perhaps they're why threads keep mysteriously disappearing? Karyuu always gives good reasons for locking threads, but I think Santiago and the others are just playing around sometimes. They're still new at it as far as I'm concerned, and I don't think they know what they're doing just yet. Actually, I was sent a PM saying my signature lags people or something, yet it takes me longer to load Santiago's signature than it does my own. In fact, the main PlaneShift website, according to Santiago, would lag people like crazy because it's flash. Moogie and Karyuu were probably the best (well, are the best, since Karyuu's still around) moderators here.

Ok, as i'm a "normal" person, I'LL ask the questions. Why do you not comment when you lock? Is there something threatening that might breach something you've kept secret? Might it be we post too many "multiple" posts, or perhaps new posts on old posts?

I don't think that the goal is to prevent posts and threads from being deleted and locked.  I think that the issue is the manner in which such things happen.

This comes a little late, but I was typing before Xordan arrived.

We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. I would like to assure everyone that I have never locked a thread without first giving an explanation. Most of my activities so far have been merging double posts, moving misplaced threads, and locking only by request (and always with an accompanying message to explain why).

With regards to the thread linked by Drey entitled "Forum Game". Please see the sticky thread "Welcome to Hydlaa Plaza! (Rules)", in which Karyuu states the following:

Some of the types of threads not welcome here are:

- Bored Threads
- Counting Threads
- Threads that ask people to answer a question or list a favorite where the answer is only a short sentence, and no discussion is involved

Any moderator could have closed this thread as part of a regular sweep.

In future it would be appreciated if one of us was contacted privately about general forum issues and we will do our best to address the problem.

To add a further explanation:

I was the one who locked the thread. The reason I didn't post is because a link to the Hydlaa Plaza rules was already given, explaining that forum game threads in which no discussion is possible are not welcome here.

Moderating these forums is already time-consuming enough without a post for every action.  Explanations and justifications for every mod action are not required.  Sometimes you guys sound like 8 year olds continuously asking your parents "whyyyyyy?", seriously.  If you don't like it, please create a forum somewhere else and post there.

Incidentally, most of the deletions and locks (especially the ones with no explanations) were probably done by me so don't blame Karyuu or Xordan or whoever your fave theory/whipping post of the day is.
