I Played RPG for long time. I Agree about limitation of skills and stats BUT - We must find place in our game for those, who "must" be best.
IT is about logic. If I have my skill of blade at 20, I will meet better character with 100% sure. But what if my skill is 100? Lets imagin that person in reality. That warrior knows everything about using certain weapon ( I thing certain piece ). Everything about moving in fight, dodging, about gravity, about strengt of his oponent. About place, where he fights, etc.
Next logical step is this: If GMs are able to monitor each dominating person, I thing isnt so hard to make "motioning limit"
A Small group of warriors, they are best in sword, will be lets say 10 % of entire population. They will be presentation of the best, what can you learn .
When to this group will "grow" another 10% of population, limit will increase. The Top group will be 20% of population for now.
When you want to go deeper, Lets limit 10% of the bests with long swords, shortswords, they combinatins... Now we have about twenty limits in Swords. And twenty elite groups.
About creatures? There is one big mistake. I will kill rat in sewers for first time and I will recieve 100% of experiences. Thats logic.
I met new creature, with special acting, atacking. Ok What if I kill that rat for 10 time. That creature has nothing to suprise me. I recieve only 10% of experiences, becouse only new thing I can learn is different way where falls rats head. This is mine meaning of learning. From same thing is harder and harder to get something new. And this is my creature limit.
*edit*
Sometimes I'm surprised which some new player that I meet two weeks ago, now are much more powerfull than me (I have played PS about a month)
They just level up their chars... I just roleplay, I don't care much leveling, just the needed.
From time on time I spend a journey camping on a rogue or a mercenary to get some PP and then I train what I need.
I must to say I have 'dumb' character because he has low levels on almost all stats and skills, but I don't care. When I get the chance to RP I'm happy.
Something that mad me are those player who came closer and press the challenge button, I reject all the time...
Why should I fight with one I don't know? Introduce yourself first, and give me a reason to fight, roleplay with me, hurt my feelings, and maybe I will fight.

Thats what is role playing about. I have same meaning as you. This is game without end goal, after player goes into the hall of fame and others can quietly looking at his character. This is endless living with certain rules. No place for some sort of king class.
I am looking forward to the future of my charackter, witch has a place to live in privacy, witch has a place to live in society. Has a friends, needs products, creates something. If someone wants to crush hundreds of monsters with one goal, then others games are available for him. I have an Idea of teacher class, where strongest characters will be able to train others.
