Help, it always says the server is failed
« on: November 28, 2006, 03:11:44 am »
I know the server sometimes goes down, but I don't think that it's the server. I've tried to log into the game (I've never played, I just downloaded it a week ago) multiple times, but it always says "Server: Failed". How can I fix this? I really want to play -- it looks so fun!

By the way, I'm not very tech-savvy, so I'd appreciate it if you talked in plain English ;)

Yes, I did read it right before i posted this topic.

"You need to allow the client to use bidirectional UDP on that port, to that server."

Like I said before, I don't know squat about techy-ness. I asked my dad if he knew anything about how to get this to connect, but he has no idea how. I'm currently googling the quote above and other things in the topic.

first is the computer connect directly into the modem?

if not you need to contact the manufacteur of the router to check that.

given that you are on a mac. most likely the firewall isn't active. unless you have a 3rd party firewall.

check hydlaa.com to make sure that the server is up.
may laanx frighten the shadow from my path.
hardly because the shadow built the lexx.

I am directly connected to the modem.

I'm pretty sure I have a 3rd party firewall, but I'll check.

Hi! The current version of PlaneShift on the Laanx Server is 0.3.017 ... .. . The current version of PlaneShift Client for Mac OS X is 0.3.016 ... .. .
this means that us Apple Mac users have to be patient and wait until a new version of the Mac OS X Client is released for download

Keep an eye on this PS Forums Thread:

http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=18245.0

It's usually a torrent file that is released first - use Azureus or Transmission to open the torrent file, followed by the Full Client .dmg file released onto the mirror sites. Don't run the Updater app at all until there is a post to say that it is okay to do so.

Meanwhile, have a good look around the PS Forums and the stickies threads, and read up on the Players Guide and the Getting Started guide on the main Planeshift website.

Welcome to the world of PlaneShift! :)

- running PlaneShift Mac OS X Tiger (10.4.11) Client, on an Apple iMac G5 2GHz PowerPC processor, 2GB DDR SDRAM, an ATI Radeon 9600 graphics card with 128MB VRAM, a 20-inch active-matrix LCD widescreen display, and a 250GB Serial ATA hard drive... so what's your excuse, huh?
