@Garile: Simply put, it's an
irregular military force, one of the reasons it is called as a
militia as well, thus it would not be alike to typical military organizations on its structure.
It may seem a little foreign, but it is pretty integrated on Planeshift settings for now. Before someone comes with the unfit for "medieval" argument I will present a more specific part of the linked article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irregular_military#Historical_reliance_on_irregularsAlso, as said before, its structure can become larger and smaller according to the necessities thus the structure posted here may change and is just a prediction on how would it would be on the maximum level of largeness and complexity.
It is possible for a military to cross the line between regular and irregular. Isolated regular army units forced to operate without regular support for long periods of time can degrade into irregulars. As an irregular military becomes more successful, they may transition away from irregular, even to the point of becoming the new regular army if they win.
If someone have any suggestion to make it more fitting into PS Settings as what it is: an Irregular Military, I'm listening.
