Lags everywhere

Hello!
Whenever something happens in game, my PC does strong lagging. I mean, i have an P4 2,4GHz, 512MB RAM and an GeForce 4 MX 440.
All Graphics are turned to very low, but this silly thing still exists. What can i do?

The game lags, or your computer doing other tasks does?

That should drop the cpu usage while you not percieving any noticeable difference in your gameplay. Just give it a try.
