Untar wandered into the city as a young, innocent , and somewhat odd elf with a high level of empathic powers. He paused as he walked past two men talking in the road, not five minutes after entering the town.
The wind told him the first man’s name was Cadoras, which seemed odd, as the man stated, “Cadoras is no longer here.”
The Menki the stones said was Satayne looked at Untar with a disturbing gaze, which the elf returned shyly. Satayne then looked closely at Untar's ear as Cadoras gave a greeting.
Untar asked, “ Sir? Is there something wrong with my ear?”
Satayne response made Untar shudder, “Mmmm, they look so...tender.”
“You would not bite a simple poet, would you?” Untar asked with worry in his voice, causing Satayne to shake the impulse off.
“No,..of course not…” Satayn responded, just as Cadaoras asked, “Poet?”
“Oh yes.” Untar answered as Satayne continued his thought.
“…No more than I would a bard.”
“Oh dear me,” Untar said quikly, “A bard? Not my worthless self. Just my words and a few scraps of paper is all I have.”
“You are a poet yet cannot sing?” the Menki asked.
“Words.…“ Untar breathed, his eyes looking upward, “That is where my heart resides. I wish for no more.
Cadoras said, “Hmm, no. The heart is here.” He taps his chest. “But you’re funny.” he continued with a chuckle.
Untar was confused by the nature of these two, and continued trying to explain, “Ahh, but to give life to a word. Have you never done this?”
Cadoras reaction was unexpected, poking Untar's ears and stating, “You look funny.”
“You startle me sir.” Untar said. But Cadoras seemed confused, so Untar asked, “It is kind or ill to poke ones ear?”
A few more words were exchanged before Cadoras and Satayne strayed off on their own business. Untar did not seem to notice much, as he had taken to listening to what the stairs had to say. In wandering about ten minutes later, he ran back into Cadoras again.
“It's the one with funny ears,” Cadoras said in greeting.
“Oh dear,” Untar said, reaching up to touch one, “I have funny ears?”
Cadoras nodded with a murmur to confirm.
“But, I have had no other.”
“Yeah. But they are funny.”
“I am glad they bring you a chuckle.”
“You are nice.” Cadoras admitted.
“A simple poet must be, or who would he give his words to?”
The two chated for a bit more before a lovely Enki approached. The building to the right told Untar her name was Maelgwyn, while the building to the left said she moved as if dancing, thought she just walked. Untar had to agree.
“Hello,” she said simply, “How are you?”
Inspired, Untar answered in prose. “Hello, my dancing lady. You move like liquid music.”
“You are funny Mister Untar.” Cadoras said, .
“ I only can say what I lay eyes upon,” Untar said simply, and meaning it.
“It would seem you have some competition Cadoras.” Maelgwyn said with a grin.
The conversation drifted off, and Untar once again found himself wandering. What an interesting first hour in his new home. He hoped all the following hours would be just as fascinating.
