NPC's and Questing
« on: May 16, 2007, 08:24:54 pm »
Greetings;

    I'm new and need some advice, I've tried to search the forum but may not have phrased the problem correctly.

    I do not need help about a quest. I need to know how to question an NPC about a quest(task) he asked me to perform.

    The situation: 1. Delivered a letter to an NPC, by giving it to him, before talking to him
                        2. NPC immediately commented on the letter and asked if I would perform a task
                        3. Before I read this I typed hello in the NPC window
                        4. NPC greeted me back
                        5. Now the NPC doesn't respond to the task he asked me if I wanted.
                        6. If I ask about a quest he responds "Maybe Later, I don't have anything now"
                        7. So now original quest which is waiting for a reply from the NPC is remains uncompleted
                        8. Is there any hope of getting the NPC to re-ask me to perform the task?

                                     Thanks in advance, "DEREL PUROGIS"

Hiya,

You have the option of creating an alt character, getting that letter again, giving it to your main, and then having your main character hand over the letter once more to prompt the question from the NPC. Give this a try.

Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

Thanks for the reply;

     What you're saying is, "Sorry, NPC logic is not very good, if you don't immediately accept you've lost the opportunity
   forever, just start over from scratch with a new character". Correct me if this is incorrect in any way. BTW, I am thankful
   for your help. Just finding out the limitations to the game.

Indeed, our current NPC/quest system certainly has its frustrating limitations at the moment. Sorry it's causing you extra work.. :}

Thanks, for the help and I'm sorry for not reading your reply carefully.

    I'm sorry if this ends up being a re-post. I replyed and pressed the Post button but it didn't seem to Post for some reason.
It seems to Post if I do a Preview and then Post. If this ends up being a double post please forgive.

    I re-read your first reply and it seems to imply that if I create a new character, obtain an object, so that it's in my inventory
that I can then in some way transfer it to another character I have. How is this done ? Is it in the user guide ? Maybe posted
in a forum ? I don't think I'm the only newbie surprised that this can be done. It sounds like not as much work as starting a
new character and using it as a replacement for your main, just to finish a minor quest.

                                               Thanks again, for helping

No problem. What you will need is either another account (you can't log in from the same account more than once) or a friend to hold the item for you while you switch characters. If you create another account, you'll have to log in with both your characters and simply have them trade. Log in where there isn't a lot of geometry, like an empty location, so that you won't get too much lag when running two clients. That's about it, there is no real bank or holding area for the moment :]

Alright ! I think I've got it !

BTW, It looks like I do have to preview a reply before I can successfully post. Is the forum supposed to work that way ?
I'm new to posting, but the 2 times today I thought I had posted but they didn't show up were when I hadn't
done a preview.

                                            Thanks for you're patience and your help !

You can post without previewing - just make sure you're pressing the right button. The only time a preview should come up if you didn't ask for it, is when someone else has made a reply while you were typing.
